Problems with dayz-community-banlist
insolentfool replied to maddyn99 (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
just did all this, didnt fix my servers #45 kicks. almost always set off from collisions, but kicked our chopper pilot at 200M altitude just before which was nasty. Managed to bail out and survive but the rest were not so lucky. -
cbf'ed checking all the following posts, but try playing on a different server. Some just suck because they either don't restart often enough or have shitty hardware/connections. bad servers have actually reduced my 60+ fps flawless game experience to 5fps stuttery pieces of 10 second delay bullshit. First game i've ever played where the server performance affects your framerate.

second shot looks like it might have actually hit his chest/neck. I've shot people in the face with the m1911 before (as they were trying to axe me etc) and its not always a 1shot kill. They got knocked out but not killed.

What would be the perfect all around gun for a lone survivor?
insolentfool replied to Man vs Wild's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
m4 sd is easily the best anti zombie gun in the game, but at longer ranges it sucks on moving targets. several times i have lost a pvp fight when i had a m4 sd in my hands where i would have come out on top with lots of other weapon types. if i had to pick a single primary i would go with the mk 48 and have a m9sd pistol. I avoid 99% of zombies and the pistol is plenty for taking out any i cant avoid. Mk 48 will usually drop a player with one bullet, hits dead on target at 400m, has 100rd mag, and can clear a room or a vehicle with no problems. with practice you can kill people at 600m which is within most sniper encounters. I would consider the LA85 if SD rounds didnt go full retard with the accuracy. If i could only have a secondary? PDW. it can use so many ammo types its too hard to pass up as well as being the only full auto pistol. PDW mags, g17, m9,m9sd,mp5,mp5sd mags can all be used for maximum spraying. -
vehicles Correct behaviour is to return to their last saved location on server reset. last saved location is where a player either exited the vehicle or manually saved it. 1.7.2.5 caused many... (but not all) vehicles to return to their spawn every server reset, regardless of them being destroyed or not. With 1.7.2.6 they will again return to wherever they were last saved. I'm pretty sure the people who have legitimately gathered a dozen vehicles at one time have a general idea of how they work. And the name's Insolentfool, not ignorantfool.

yeah this game has been the worst value for money ever. I've only gotten like 600 hours on this game and i was so frustrated about how crap it was i bought a second copy for my laptop in the steam sales. so i've paid $45 for two copies of a game. I wish there was something else i could do with arma 2 other then play day z.

so much ignorance. Destroyed vehicles will respawn in the same location with the same gear on server restart on any server vehicles are working normally. Also any vehicles saved off the map return to spawn after 24 hours. I have gathered many vehicles, as after hundreds of hours playing its one of the "end game" type activities you can do. A coodinated crew of half a dozen can easily own 10 vehicles. It has its own limiting factors though. Any camps with that many cars is easy as hell to spot. You can spread your investment over multiple locations but that actually increases the chance of one of them getting found. Imagine you come back to camp and 1 car is missing.... do you have any idea how long it can take 2-3 people to move 6 cars 2+ k's away? Every time you leave the base you risk not bringing back the car. Attrition begins to add up. Quad bikes can be flipped... cars can be crashed.. choppers are risky as hell due to hackers wanting to shoot you down in AA tanks (usually how we lose ours). When we get bored and drive down to cherno/electro for some action we only get the car back 1/2 the time. The only reason people complain about vehicle hoarding is they don't have the patience to go do what the hoarders do... go looking for them instead of just using a lootmap and going to their spawn. Give me 2-3 hours and ill find a vehicle guaranteed. Give me 1 hour and a pushbike and ill find several. Once you have 1 all the rest come faaaaaaaaar easier. Want a vehicle? Make some friends. 3-4 people can search the north end of the map in an hour on foot, checking all the best spots for bases.

Loot spawns should be coordinated with hive
insolentfool replied to CongressmanAlexShrub's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Even if this was to work, this would be far more work then character creation and saving and massively increase the server load. Unless some programming genius turns the system into using a fraction of its current resources this just isn't feasible. -
Preventing Choppers spawning in trees for 7 days.
insolentfool posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As i understand it, the game saves vehicles whenever someone exits it. This includes ejecting. At the moment this has not been a massive issue as many servers have a resetting chopper every time the server reboots. But what happens if you get shotdown over water or trees and you eject/land and get out before it blows? Ejecting works, people will try it. What happens if somone drives a car into the water? it will respawn in a unsafe location and be destroyed every time the server reboots. As long as its on the map it will then take 7 days before respawning. Perhaps there could be a check implemented either in the alpha or standalone to check if a vehicle is in a "dud" location and give it a reset sooner. This has happened to our crew once on a server, all that happened was there was some exploded trees in the one location for a week and was impossible to retrieve the chopper. -
Robin Hood the Anti-Hacker Hacker.
insolentfool replied to jefe4life's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i've seen several of these threads deleted. John doe the newbie gets hacked then sees something like this and gets hacks to teach them a lesson. the problem is even if one person could do a great job of this, dozens will get power crazed and abuse their new powers and end up no worse then the hackers themselves. You know why people dont get banned when someone says" he hacked!"? because all it takes is their say so to punish an enemy. I live in Australia. Many years ago some genius decided it would be a good idea to bring in Cane toads to eat bugs causing a bit of grief. Years later we have millions upon millions of the bastards swarming over half our country causing way more problems then they were supposed to fix. While i applaud robin hoods efforts, This is not the way to deal with it by encouraging vigilantes. -
Auto run, while doing other stuff(alt-tabbed)
insolentfool replied to embrosioi4c@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
if the game can be run in a window you could do that, havent even bothered looking though as i use a laptop. -
Ask a guy who died to the only other person on the server....
insolentfool replied to shreddedrocks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
one time me and a mate were on a server with only 2 other people. we thought stary would be nice and safe for a loot run so drove straight in and started looting. Got ambushed as we were leaving by the only other 2 guys on the server. Needless to say we now have overwatch no matter what. -
NZ 05 teleported and executed right after downing a chopper
insolentfool posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
2 minutes after shooting down a chopper and killing "KOS | Netsky" and "synergy - elvte" I was teleported onto the beach somewhere and instantly shot by 2-3 people around me. This occured at approx 5:00pm AEST -

And another hacker just took back the vehicles we stole from his base, left a note laughing at us. Fuck this game, 3 different hackers in 2 hours. -
This same guy attacked us only a few minutes earlier at like 3:03 AEST, red beret, clown face and axe. He appeared next to me and yelled ARHHH You're going to die. His name was Dogs, I tried to get a screenshot of him but only got his text.

Sick of hackers? Then stop whining and help fight back.
insolentfool replied to dontgetmadgeteven's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not so worried about the dozens of people that can make hacks for day z, but the hundreds or thousands of script kiddies they are dealing to. This can't really cause us any more trouble then we are already in i figure. -
Hacking makes DayZ impossible to play 'seriously'
insolentfool replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My last 10 deaths have been to hackers. Still no thunderdome or anything "funny" just invisible assholes or server bombing. Bastards keep taking my choppers too. even this morning on a server with 6 people me and a mate got killed by an invis guy. didnt realise he was hacking till he shot me with a silenced as50 when i was watching the only entrance to my windowless building. -
My week. Monday:Finally get a chopper. Pilot d/c's and we plummet. 2 gunners managed to d/c before dying. Pilot loses his licence as we bitch at his NZ net. Hours later after a restart i get the chopper and fly back to base at night with no map (didnt realise it comes with built in GPS) Tuesday: Log in to find our base which has been undiscovered for 2 weeks (many vehicles) has been busted, only thing taken is the chopper. Everything else is exploded. suspect hacker. drive whats left of our supplies on a 1 way trip south. We got ambushed trying to scavenge more chopper parts and lost 1 guy, kept the vehicles though. swapped servers looking for a chopper and got one fixed. sweet. Flew around for 20 mins but the server kept crashing, Probably was being caused by the chopper. decided to let a fresh spawn dude test the eject function... happened to be over trees at the time. Parachute works fine but when the server died 10 mins later the chopper reset to its last save position in the trees and explodes every server restart. Wed. Get another chopper, park it on a 1 degree slope while looting someones base... it rolls into some trees. managed to get it airborne but over compensated and crashed nearby in a clearing. Recovered after reset and flew off map to save. As i was landing i got "kicked from server" for no reason. chopper doesnt spawn at either location... noticed it flying around in electro a couple of hours later. suspect hacker again. open fire on chopper and wing it, whole server gets bombed. Def hacker. Thursday: Mate finds a chopper on another server, i log on and start running along the beach, see a dude looting a huge crate of guns/ammo. run up to him tell him "you really shouldnt hack" and spam him in the face with my SAW. get to island, fix chopper and as we are taking off i get shot. Not the chopper as my mate was fine but just me. Suspect hacker again. get back to body and find G36 rounds on it.... yup. Choppers not only lag the shit outa servers and make them crash but are almost impossible to keep. Being only 1 on each server is just too tempting for the MANY hackers that rape this game. I've spent HOURS trying to get them and only had them for minutes. only crashed once and that was trying to take off when the rotor blades were touching a tree. was pretty funny though, what do you think happens when you hold a choppers blades still? the body spins instead. Trying to take off while spinning around trees is difficult.

Shot leaving Balota airstrip... then dragged still alive into the woods.
insolentfool posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So I was running towards cherno, annoyed I didn't find anything at the airstrip or tents when I hear a shot crack past. Lee enfield I thought, make it hard to hit me. Immediately I broke into a sprint and started to zig zag but after half a dozen shots I got put down, still alive and on low hp. "Great" I thought, here comes the kill shot..... But it never came. Just as I thought she was going to leave me to bleed out I start getting dragged towards the north treeline. At this point I didn't know what was going to happen to me, I can only assume that she thought i was dead and was removing the body for the next chump to murder. I woke up with 1k blood and was still bleeding. When I turned around I see a female character aiming away from me looking for her next target. With 1 k blood, no bandage and still bleeding I thought, "I'll show you!". I snuck up behind her and looked in her backpack. Unfortunately there was only heaps of morphine, food and drink. I grabbed everything and started eating saying " Hey I'm not dead, now I'm eating all your food what do you think about that?" A mag of 1911 made his mood pretty clear, but then he had to brave chero for food, drinks and morphine. :) Felt very deliverance when I was being dragged though...no idea what was going to happen to me. Damn this game is fun sometimes. -
So, how many of you that play girl characters...
insolentfool replied to a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I usually prefer to watch female behinds running for hours instead of a dudes. Any game I can/will play in third person I have this reasoning with. The first character I made was thus a female. This all changed the first time i found a ghillie. The powergamer in me wanted every edge so my mates ended up getting the suit and I ended up picking dude ass everytime since. Soon as they fix Ghillies ill probably change back. Good luck killing me. I won't be yelling friendly. -
I shot down the only helicopter I've ever seen in DayZ
insolentfool replied to xcr129's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ambushing people and stealing their cars is easily the most fun ive had, Getting a chopper is also fun but they are just so easy to lose between server crashes, hackers or just being found.... -
Friendly Fire Feature? What Just Happened????
insolentfool replied to rmnesbitt@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you can also get this if you respawn while still waiting for char to create. Not that you can do that anymore. -
I have 2 copies of arma 2, on 2 steam accounts, on 2 computers. It has become invaluble to my crew as the "whipping boy" who hauls shit 10 k's autorunning on foot, picks us up from the coast in vehicles, carries the food, drink and ammo for us. I can leave him in an overwatch position while we are all off scavenging. It only cost me $15 during the steam sales, already earned its keep. Of course it helps when you have a good enough second pc/laptop though, as i tried to swap copies of arma 2 on the one machine and hit resistance. It adds another level of challenge controlling 2 people at the same time. Current challenge is trying to fly a chopper with the main and then gun with the second dude.

vehicle "hoarding", what the hell is it?
insolentfool replied to Daddy'o (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
at one point my crew had 10 vehicles at our base. You tend to lose them due to attrition from things like ambushes or server crashes. we had 2 quad bikes, found a base with 3 more and found a 6th not too far from our camp. only a day later we were down to 4, then a week later 2. now our whole stock is gone. each time someone found our base we would lose 1 or 2 vehicles and spend ages moving. Sometimes we managed to get one back. We would spend hours finding, fighting and salvaging vehicles so we deserved them just as much as anyone else. Eventually I think someone got greedy and our bases were often found minutes after moving by people on foot, even when spread to pretty sneaky locations which were miles from anything. It just got too sus considering what powers hackers have. That in combination with the dodgy server hoster leaving the server down for 6 hour blocks some days we decided to change. Keep in mind, the more vehicles and bigger the base you have the more likely it is to be found. one quad parked behind a tree in the wilderness is much harder to find then 1 Gaz, 6 quads, 1 ural , 2 hilux's and several tents. Finally the game actually gets pretty boring once you have everything, you spend more time trying to keep what you have rather then being hungry for more. You get so concerned about losing any of your awesome gear or items that you avoid as much risk as possible until you realise you're just killing time instead of actually playing. Thats when people tend to start destroying poor newbies in cherno and electro for some entertainment. Removing unlimited ammo and item duping will lengthen the gameplay time, forcing people to go to the risky areas for ammo. Still, you stop caring about "Gotta catch them all!"
