Going to keep this one simple. In the DayZ Standalone there should be large mountains like in Namaslk, and ofcourse they should be covered in snow. I strongly agree that the DayZ standalone should be in a cold environment such as Namaslk because if you want to access areas of high loot you must first find yourself some warm clothes. There for players are forced to scavenge for basic supplies before they're able to find a weapon, or a military weapon, so players are somewhat limited to high altitude areas. I find myself, when I'm playing on Lingor, or Panthera that I will almost always find a military weapon before I have a map or any food or drink. The only barracks on the map should only spawn ontop of a snow covered mountain, such as Seraja Army Base. I don't meen that the map should be limited to only one barracks, but there should be multiple mountains, therefore plenty of barracks to go around. I'm sure most of you guys have played or atleast heard of Call of duty 4 Modern warfare, (no I'm not a cod fan.) but when you look at the map "Bloc" and where it is set, which is in Chernobyl. It would be a great place for DayZ to be set in. Not to mention the fact that the city 'Vorkuta' in namalsk seems to look similar, and quite nostalgic. I think for the best outcome of DayZ standalone, it would have to be set in an environment that is similar to Chernobyl and Namaslk. DayZ being set in it's current map 'Chernarus' is a good map and suits it well. But a dark, cold map like this would make DayZ so much more interesting, and I think it would suit it so much more than it does with Chernarus. Not to mention there could also be an in depth storyline, because Chernobyl still has radiation floating around and you could use that to some up a storyline of how the zombie apocalypse began.

Middle of america? How would you close off the edges of the map?

Add snow mountains, then you can have your rivers.

Just to be clear I picked 3. This isn't Battlefield 3, it's arma, bullets go where there meant to, even if you're not aiming down the sights. Have you ever wondered what happens with guns in real life if you don't down aim down their sights? They still go where there barrels are pointed. There's no such thing as hip fire spread, it only exists in shitty games that need 'balance'. If you add a laser beam, (not laser sight, this isn't optics we're talking about.) then it would show you directly where the bullet will go (if the target is within it's effective range.) As for the Lee Enfield, you cannot simply tape a fucking scope on it and expect your rounds to go on target. How are you meant to zero the weapon? Not to mention the fact you have to self zero it by manually adjusting it with tape, then firing it until you get the sweet spot zeroed in. Which won't be a waste of ammo, or attract any attention? Won't hurt to use the search function in the future.

This is a quick suggestion, so I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. In the current mod, all barracks have the same percentage of spawning loot and have a percentage to spawn some guns more than other guns. All towns should a higher or lower chance to spawn certain weapons. For example if you could be like 'lets go to this town' because it's known to have lots of melee weapons. And you could visit another town because you know they have more food than other towns. Same should apply with firearms. Certain industrial areas would have a more likely chance to find a pistol rather than a double barrel shotgun that you'd normally find on a farm. Why have this? Not only would it make game play more immersive but it gives players the option to make decisions on what kind of loot they might want. Also to break the bond that players have when they walk into a general store and they already know what they're going to find. e.g back packs, maps and compasses. It would also be a better approach to do this rather than drastically reducing loot spawns. And lastly it players would have to rely on general knowledge rather than looking up loot maps and seeing what building and area has the most loot. Hope it makes it into the standalone, I really don't see a reason why this could possibly denied into Standalone.

Having a .50 cal side arm won't help you survive, you won't be able to find ammunition for it, or be able to hold the damn thing. As well as the fact every zombie will hear you shooting it.

pfft, someone pointing a fire at you, would you really try to kick them? Even so, you'd only use this if you were unarmed, most likely a new spawn, making new spawns able to overpower someone with a weapon at point blank range? That being said, new spawns have nothing to loose, and will always try to kick your weapon from you if they get the chance. (I don't know why you would try to kick someone pointing a gun at you) Maybe something like push the firearm away from you or something, either way a gun has a hair trigger, the person will die as soon as he moves a muscle, no ones stupid enough to let someone overpower you if you have a gun pointed at them. Fine how it is thanks.

After playing all of the new maps released on DayZ Namalsk was overall the best. Though I have to say if it was alot larger it would be perfect, then I thought why the hell isn't the Standalone having snowy mountains? Looking at the current map, Chernarus, it doesn't look like the coldest climate yet Rocket is adding new clothing like jackets and warm clothing. If you had mountains with snow on them not only could you have a vary of loot that is compatible with the cold but you can have clothing that you can climb up the mountain with, as well as having snow camo items too. Or have white paint cans so you can paint your firearm white. As well as having a military base up there like Seraja army base in Namalsk, if you wanted to go there you had to wear warm clothing or bring a load of heat packs, it would be better for the game because you'd have to work towards finding good loot, currently you can just run to some barracks and find a gun without having to prepare. If it was added to the north part of the map this is what it should look like. http://www.wallpapersdesign.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Switzerland-Mountain.jpg There is no reason to not put in snowy mountains, there are mountain ranges in Africa, I'm sure Chernarus (based near Russia) could easily have mountains. Maybe try to base it in the Urals? Please add this! The current map is boring, when you guys finish Chernarus plus it's just going to be the plain old Chernarus with different areas and an extended map, if you added snowy mountains it would make the game a hell of a lot more nostalgic as well as making it more interesting.

I hope so!

AND FUCKING MOUNTAINS.

you cant have large cities like this, otherwise you cant have an open farm land which makes dayz so fun. you have to balance it out with small towns and cities every now and then. Thats why russia is a good choice because you can have an even balance of the two.

I like the idea that you need a kit to remove a bullet out of your body. Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to remove a bullet from your body, unless you have some basic tools (which has the potential to cause an infection) or you could have that kit. This idea has alot of potential. But the idea of bleeding every 10 minutes isn't the most realistic approach. If you were shot in the leg, and removed the bullet if it was still in your leg, a simple medical bandage would stop the bleeding.

Tents should disappear on death.
koze replied to jamieledgeway@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If camping tents are removed on death, then you could never raid a camp because as soon as you killed the owner, all the gear is magically gone..? Or, players should be limited to only 1 camping tent. Both ideas a stupid, very stupid. Not only is this extremely 'unrealistic' but would ruin gameplay for everyone. Exactly what are you trying to achieve by heavily ruining gameplay for anyone who wants to build a camp? -
Ballistics and Weapon Reliability
koze replied to simfreek@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
While everyone is going on about how much damage rounds should do in game due to their real life ballistics, I'd like to say: If the .50 cal is going to in the SA, most people would argue that is too 'OP' because they aren't used to that sort of power in COD. Anyway, when a .50 cal round enters say a torso, shock from the round entering the wound causes just as much damage, if not more than the actual round's impact. This is because all that shock will rupture everything, even bones within a certain vicinity (Don't know the dimensions exactly). This being said if you're hit in the upper leg (quads) then it would rip your whole leg off, or your muscle, bone and nerves will be completely destroyed. Either way you will die from blood loss. -
Maps or countries you would like to play in
koze replied to ThaFatBuddha's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
do you understand how hard map making is? It's taken them a long time to make chernarus plus, I don't think they're going to ditch all that they've done and redo all the loot spawns and everything right now. -
Utopia* Also, mining is a terrible idea, in the process you have to find a huge reserve of iron, then dig it out, then you have to refine it. Do you have the equipment to smelt it? No, so now you have to go scavenge for equipment to smelt the iron ore, which of-course would attract players and zombies. You'd be extremely better of just scavenging for some scrap metal in the first place. Don't forget this is a 'zombie apocalypse simulator', so saying that it would be 'cool' just to have it there in the game would be stupid. As for claiming lands and building houses and small towns.. Like I said, a 'ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE' simulator. Trading resources with other people, building properties and owning land doesn't relate to this, you'd only be doing this once the infection has been cured and everyone has started to rebuild civilization. And should we have NPC's? No. Rockets' already planning to add vehicle customization, you should look up more about the SA before you make these silly threads.

You have my support, I find it annoying that everytime I look some barracks I always find myself closing and opening the wrong doors. There should be something more simpler, like you walk up to a door, look at it and press a button to open it.

Arma is one of the most realistic game out today, and the DayZ SA is going to try to 'simulate' a zombie apocalypse. Critical hits on zombies because you have a certain skill set doesn't really make fit the game. In Arma, it takes skill to shoot at long distances, with or without optics. To make it even harder, there are rumors that bullets will be affected by wind. Taking shots at longer ranges will take much more effort, that being said finding a firearm in the first place should also be alot harder. I don't think that you should have to learn a skill just to hit a target you were going to hit anyway. Bullets will hit their target when the target is within their effective range. There should be no reason why people shouldn't be able to hit those targets, or have a higher chance (Aided aiming) of hitting it because they have learned a skill. That being said, if you can't hit the target in the first place it's your own fault and you need to practice, or get closer to your target. As for the 'Stamina' idea. You can be the fattest f*ck in the world, and if you know how to handle a weapon or have had formal training you can shoot it as good as anyone. DayZ doesn't need skill sets like these, but it will have some in the standalone I believe. But in my opinion you shouldn't need a perk or skill to help you aim, if you can shoot well in the game then you shouldn't be limited in any way.

Standalone - Map ideas, Horror Aspects & Special Infected.
koze posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Please take your time to read ALL of this before you comment: No special infected, this is not Left4Dead, and so on. DayZ is a zombie game yet the only time you'll ever be scared shitless is when you're getting shot at. Zombies are now only a nuisance. Now my idea includes "special" infected. No, not like the ones in Left4Dead, but just something simple, not overpowered, not playable, and not anything outside the concept of DayZ. And still keeping DayZ authentic. So, first the new DayZ map SHOULD be in Russia or the Ukrain, same region as Chernarus. No, I'm not russian but if the DayZ standalone map is in Russia it just keeps the authenticity in DayZ. Also, a map like Chernarus or something similar suits DayZ perfectly, for instance: It's city's arnt too large that it turns into a massive murder fest, and be able to find a gun anwhere. Think about it, if your city has a shopping mall then chances are it will be in an industrial area i.e major city. DayZ is a game where it is more fitted to being out into the country, therefor making vehicles more useful and valuable. And ofcourse a large city wont be near any forests or out in the country. So you can hide any vehicles you've found in thick forests. Now onto the Horror/Special infected. There is nothing scary about the current DayZ map (Chernarus) simply because that map was designed for arma2, a war zone, not a zombie apocalypse. So my idea is that we could have a few parts of the map where there are grave yards or haunted locations. Now a few people would be thinking, how about green mountain? Yeah well theres nothing dramatic about it, except the fact it reads co-ordinates of deer stands. But if you had a medium-large thick, dark, foggy, forrest, and in the middle of it is a grave yard or some shit scary location then it would be scary as fuck to go in there. Now comes in the "special" infected. Once you enter the dark forrest, there is a rare chance you could encounter some sort of super kind of zombie. They could maybe have a little bit more heath than regurlars, not too much. No special attacks, such as vomiting on you from behind, or strangling you with their massive tongue from 50 meters away. But what features it could have is to be able to stalk you, it hides behind trees or cover as it follows you. And when you stop to eat or something it strikes. My other idea is that when it detects you, it screams, alerts every zombie in your location. Though, when you aggro a zombie, every zombie within 30-50 meters is also trying to rip your face off. But this would happen on a much larger scale. Ofcourse it's all up to the Devs, and what you, the community wants. Another idea is.. Hospitals! Some of the most scariest games are usually set in hospitals. DayZ should have much larger hospitals, making finding supplies a little harder, and more scary. Things to consider: Blood trails, zombie patients. Instead of just shooting a few panes of glass, or throwing bottles at them and then just grabbing a few supplies then leaving. You should have to check rooms for blood bags and other medical supplies. (found in draws & cupboards.) Rocket mentioned in a Rezzed session of a zombie life cycle, which is a zombie that is kind of human like, but gradually turns into a zombie. I was thinking that maybe it could be linked with the special infected, after the zombie has reached its end of the cycle it could turn into the "special" infected. Ofcourse you wont be able to see that many special inftected in the game, but it adds a twist to how they got there and what they will eventually all turn into. http://www.google.co...,r:10,s:0,i:104 Another idea, if these special inftected were introduced into DayZ, they would only spawn in scary locations e.i haunted castle, graveyard or dark misty/foggy woods. But we already have a system that records how many zombie kills, murders, and bandit kills on our debug moniter. If this special infected was introduced into DayZ it could also be recorded on the debug moniter, e.i Demon kills: 3. Ofcourse they wouldent be called demons but you get the point. Conclusion: Lastly, a few of you might be thinking, whats the point of having foggy, scary/haunted areas? High chance of helicopter crash sites ofcourse! Not too higher chance, but you're more likely to find a crash site in dark foggy woods rather than in the middle of the country side. And it makes survivors/bandits have to work a little bit harder to get better weapons at helicopter crash sites. Please comment, and let me know what you think :D- 32 replies

I'm guessing you meant 'invisible', but I don't remember there being any invisible zombies in namalsk, and I don't see how exactly it would fit into a apocalypse 'simulator' -

YES! I can't believe i've been playing Dayz for so long and only recently have I started to watch the Walking dead, it really does motivate you to play DayZ, but gives you more ideas towards making DayZ improve. I also believe Dean has been inspired by it as well and is using their 'walking style' into motion capture too. -
its not a 44. magnum, its a 357..
