It's pretty simple, and probably really easy to fix, but the problem is that players can just log in and out to refill their magazines. If this isn't fixed Dean's whole idea of scavaging for things in the standalone won't be very hard, you find around 3 magazines for your weapon and all of the sudden you have unlimited ammo. Also I haven't been able to get on DayZ recently due to some f*ckwits stealing my key but I noticed that the last patch let you log out regardless of being in combat mode or not. So if you haven't noticed, you can just pop a zombie in the face, abort-so you loose zombie agro, and get your ammo back if you still have your magazine. I'm hoping this will be fixed when Dean add's his new ammo system for the standalone, but this still ruins the mod for players. Really needs to be fixed guys.

Ok, so everyone is getting tired of hackers and such, and trying to get them banned is a real pain in the ass. Most people who have DayZ bough Arma 2 off steam. So pretty much the standalone could use a system of some sort like steam or steam itself. Why? Because you can see who you are currently playing with and people you have previously played with, which would make finding hackers alot easier. And once you find their profile you can report them which would make life alot easier for moderators. This might be a challange for the Devs, but pretty much ALL games have this nowdays, such as xbox live, ps3 and most PC games. Also having this overlay feature would also make playing with friends way more easier, and playing with people you've met in game easier too. Any other ideas?

This cannot happen in the standalone, bad enough admins can turn off night time and ban people who kill them but this really needs to be addressed. If admins have this kind of power in the standalone then there is no point anyone playing it.
-
The fact that admins actually have the power to spawn in weapons, vehicles and equipment, as well as know where everyone on the map is should be a little alarming. If this happens in the standalone there is absolutely no point playing it because if an admin can know where your camp is located spawn in every weapon then that completely ruins the entire concept of DayZ.

Mountains like Namalsk

Where are you getting the electricity to power the lights? Towns that have light instantly indicate bandits that, that area has players, therefore turning into a PvP fest. Think realistically, if you were in a zombie apocalypse how would you power an entire town or city? How exactly would you benefit from it? If you've watched doomsday preppers, in one of the episodes they say that the best time to move and scavenge is in the cover of darkness. That is, if you want to move around not rebuild a civilization. But you're trying to survive in DayZ, and having a town/city completely lit with lights indicates you are there, and will definitely attract alot of players.

I don't think we'll all be running around with hand guns loaded with rubber bullets and shotguns with beanbags when there's a zombie apocalypse. A tazer would be a better alternative to knock someone out without harming them.

What I'm suggesting is that when you look at the player list it should list who is friendly, and who is a bandit. Then people can go around killing bad guys all day and not piss off all the 12 year olds who keep getting fucked on because they were ambushed by bandits. This isn't 100% fool proof, but then again something like this isn't completely reliable. This saying, humanity should be permanent, if it is not already. I honestly don't know if humanity is permanent so don't quote me on that. Humanity should be removed as numbers, because there is no limit to your humanity, instead they should have either 10 sections, Black at the bottom indicating they are the lowest kind of bandit and shoot everything that moves, then red, then neutral which would be white or something. After that you would have green, then blue etc.. (And when I meant 10 sections, I mean that all colour could be in different shades and such.) Or, have some sort of bar that has a vertical line or a dot, red to the left side, neutral in the middle.. blah blah Why have this? Because the current humanity system is buggy, and since it runs in numbers and there is no current limit (that I know of) then bandits would have to administer like 200 blood bags or something to regain neutral status. And if it is permanent, well you get the point. Or.. There could be a system where players could rate other players. But I feel a system like that could, and most likely would be abused. So instead, if you see a player on the scoreboard, you can look at his DayZ profile to see what others have commented on him. Or just have a quick system like, Is this player friendly? "YES" or "NO" and other players can view it. Self Defence: Unfortunately there is no current system to determine whether someone has open fired on you first, and you shot back at them in self defence. Thus, you get a bandit skin and a negative humanity for killing someone who was about to kill you even though they had a survivor skin on. (This is why humanity should be permanent) To fix this issue, the Devs could come up with some system that won't turn you into a bandit and give you more humanity if you shoot someone who has shot or inflicted damage on you first. Sorry if you didn't I think I went enough in depth about these subjects, every time I put a huge effort into a thread the 12 year olds just ignore it because they can't be bothered reading it all. I sure you all got the gist of it.

Nameplates and Tracers should be removed regardless, even though you don't find many servers with tracers, Nameplates don't really work with DayZ. With name plates you can spot vehicles and players, and know what their distance is, making rangefinders completely useless.

Honestly think this is another one of those things that ruins DayZ. People can just swap servers if they're scarred of the dark, but servers should have both day and night cycle. EDIT: I don't understand why so many people are against this, I hope I don't get shit canned for this but in WarZ, when it's night time ALL servers are night time. When it's day time ALL servers are day time. There's no escaping the time, though from what I've heard they only have 4 hour cycles so people from all countries will see the light of day. I'm sure something like this should be in DayZ. Why? NVG's are one of the rarest finds in DayZ, now they are almost completely useless, so are weapons that have flash lights. I'm sure in a Zombie apocalypse it's not always going to be 24/7 Day time, as much as we'd like that. And DayZ is meant to be a zombie Apocalypse simulator, so realism is one of it's core aspects. Also one of the reasons why Arma 2 (a Military Simulator) works so well with DayZ. Otherwise DayZ would be a game full of snipers quick scoping and players bunny hopping. (Much like WarZ) Some may argue, theres no point in having night time in DayZ any more because you can just turn up your gamma. Well I guess there's no point in having zombies in DayZ because you can just shoot them with guns? Well there's no point in NVG's because there's no more night time servers. @aHzdaNny We do have our own server. :o

your post contributed nothing towards this topic. And you must be a hero for calling me spoiled, I am suggesting that removing 24/7 daytime servers would make DayZ so much more realistic, now unless you actually have something to contribute, or some constructive criticism towards the topic then please, f*ck off.

DayZ Commander?

I don't see how that really helps, you'd be better off with a torch. If you've ever found an Fn Fal with night vision, it's still almost impossible to navigate your way around with it at night only using the scope. It would be the exact same with binos, except you don't have a gun attached. They kind of already have that with rangefinders, not many people know they have nightvision.

Theres no way you can ever stop teamspeak from being used in DayZ. People will just use other voice chat programs such as skype or ventrilo. If not you can just use a secondary computer or laptop, plenty of the people I play with do this. Or even mobile phones have skype these days.

Standalone should have a Namalsk like environment.
koze replied to koze's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Have you even played it? On Chernarus you only find people one place, the airfield. In Namalsk you find them everywhere. I have had so many more PvP encounters in Namalsk than Chernarus. -
Had an ATV, server shut-down, lost ATV and stuck in animation.
koze replied to deeznutz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
you can jump into a vehicle while your stuck, also I tried pressing F a few times and I got up. But I think it was in a different situation, give that a go, if not get someone to pick you up in a vehicle. -
Well I don't see how this wouldn't work in DayZ, but if you can eat people, then newly spawned players would be targeted. And they're already being killed for no reason.

Cable Ties, Pepper Spray, Rubber Bullets, Knockout Melee attacks.
koze replied to Wisebeard91's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think people will be running around with a gun loaded with rubber bullets and a tazer as a sidearm when the world ends. -
Chernarus needs snowy mountains. Foot step tracking would come in handy there.
-
Great idea, never been suggested before. Though all the guns in DayZ have to be from Arma2, otherwise.. You can do the coding for them.
-
Singleplayer? I'm not even going to bother giving you a reason why that's a stupid idea. You're better off just playing arma2, because DayZ singleplayer, will never happen.

Just to make this clear I am not complaining about how much damage they do or anything like that. Infact I honestly think 7.62 rifles should be a 1 hit kill from higher chest up. But this isn't the point. Anyway, so currently in DayZ, I'm not sure if I'm right or not but I think Rocket may have deliberately put alot of fog into DayZ so that people can't snipe everything that moves from a long distance away. The mountain opposite of Cap Golova for example, when I found my first CZ550 I climbed that mountain thinking I'd kill some idiots running around the bottom and it would be easy, it kind of was. But I noticed I could never see into Cherno, now I know why.. derp Anyway, I haven't yet played Namaslk because my internet is capped, but I have seen a bit off footage and read a lot about it. I think in the standalone, the weather, since it's in Russia ofcouse should be permanently in winter. I know this isn't the most realistic approach to DayZ, but having DayZ in a permanent cold environment would mean that people not only would be constantly looking around for food and supplies, warm cloths and heat packs, but the vision would be also restricted. I use Namaslk as an example because an environment like that would have snow storms, fog, constant rain, maybe even hail storms? and other shit that would restrict the vision snipers that are capable of taking out targets at over 1,600 meters away. I do not believe that nerfing the sniper rifles power would be a good approach to reducing the overpowerness of the cannons, because any more than body shot is an instant kill. (in real life situations) And removing them completely would piss everyone off. Removing the vision via fog and rain is a far better approach than heavily nerfing the .50 cals, or removing them completely in my opinion. Then again we are aloud to have our own opinions.

New interface for picking up loot and opening and closing doors.
koze posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In the current interface, if you want to say open or close a door you have to scroll up or down which brings up a menu. I know this menu was never meant for a mod like DayZ, but though it may seem to somewhat suit the mod I disagree. We have all had our moments when we were looting the barracks and when we tried to close a door it brought up a menu with more than one door. My idea is (Similar to the Half-Life interface) that if you decide to close a door you shouldn't have to bring up a menu via scrolling then pick a close door option, hoping that the one you picked was the door you wanted closed. So to simply put it instead of having to go through all that, why not have a door opening and closing button on your keyboard? All you should have to do is look at the door you want closed, press the 'use' button, and it opens/closes. The other one is that, currently, if you want to pick up loot or an item you go into a crouching position, then holster your weapon, or depending on if you have a side arm out you point it in the air. THEN you can pick up gear, compared to other most other games, it shouldn't take that long to pick up an item. There could be a looting system that you just hover your cross-hairs over your desired items and like the current interface where it gives you a quick pick up choice such as 'take M1014 Shotgun' even though there may be more loot on the ground. There should be a system where the item which your cross-hairs are hovering over glows or something to indicate that you want to pick it up, or some writing pops up indicating what the item is in case its one of those bags could contain random military loot but the Arma 2 Devs couldn't be bothered making models for them. The only issue with these suggestions is that making these changes would possibly require a lot of time and coding and such. Or maybe it can't be changed at all, since you're editing an entire interface, pretty much creating a new game which would take heaps of time to code, possibly delay the standalone. But by some miracle it could be done, then that would be great, and something like this would make the game more attractive to new gamers. It would also make life easier for new players to DayZ, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who agrees with this when I say that the current interface is somewhat clunky and easily confuses anyone new to Arma or DayZ. Lastly, in case anyone was thinking this might turn DayZ into something too 'arcade' like, well if it makes the game easier, makes it look more attractive to people who have never played DayZ, I don't really see a downside towards it. -
So.. you're suggesting that there should be no zombies in a zombie survival simulator? You just went full retard. Never go full retard.
