    Thanks Askar but Combat Cactus warped in and healed me right up. I was really pretty nervous, every player contact i have had in the last week has been hostile, but he came in and was quite the hero.

  7. I have been playing this series since OFP and I enjoy some non-Dayz Arma2 action once in a while. I tried starting standard ARMA2 BAF and PMC both from steam but it automatically loads the Dayz mod and won't let me play single player. Is there anyway to start Arma2 to play the standard game without uninstalling Dayz?

    How do I disable Dayz? I start up Arma2 BAF or PMC and go to the expansions tab, it shows the mod, but when I try to disable it, the button is darkened and clicking on it does nothing.
  11. So, I have been playing for a few weeks on and off and I have been PKed without warning or provocation several times. Kind of disappointing but I understand it is part of the game. It had been pretty frustating though and made me decide to adopt a shoot on sight philosophy. So, I am looting the Balota airstrip and get mauled badly by Zombies. I manage to kill them but I am down to 2500 blood, gray, pulsing, out of focus vision. I considered respawning, but I had found an AKM, hatchet, hunting knife, and a Coyote Backup so I decide to try making the convenience store further north west. I make it after several hours of randomly passing out, crawling, and in general a miserable trip. I am looking for matches so I can go into the wilderness and kill some animals to get my blood back up. I am even more desperate not to lose this character as I have found a map, binoculars, entrenching tool, tool box, and watch on the journey. No luck on the matches, I am going through the store and my heart sinks as I hear moaning, look towards the front door and I see, dimly and out of focus, several shambling Zeds approaching, already inside and locked in on me. Suddenly I hear over my speakers, "Friendly?" I type out "Yes, almost out of blood, can't see", suddenly the freshly arrived survivor opens fire. I, of course, assume he is lighting me up "4 teh lulz". I see the zeds drop and the new guy says "I have a blood pack for you, let me get it out of my backpack". Still expecting a round to the head I stand my ground as he actually gives me a transfusion and doesn't shoot me afterwards. We clear the rest of the store together, kill some zombies as they stumble in, and I find a Lee Enfield that he is looking for and tell him where it is. He identifies himself as "Billy" and I am already messaging him as my character/real name "Rick". A short time later I have to log off but my faith that not all players of this mod are jack ass twitch shooters is restored.

    You could make the re animation time variable from .5-15 minutes to put some stress into looting PVP victims. Nothing like have Nooby McNoob reanimate and take a bite out of you as you are taking his single can of pasta.

    End goal

    I have read several comments on the forums and on the net in general lamenting the lack of any end goal beyond simple survival and accumulation of gear. We already have the option of repairing helicopters which seems to be the biggest project players can currently undertake. How about adding an aircraft carrier off the coast, near the edge of the map. Make the ship unaccessible except for from the air. Give players the option of "escape" by flying to the aircraft carrier and then their character is retired with some kind of reward screen, like the dance party screens from the ARMA Evolution MP missions. After 5-10 minutes of that, the character is retired and a new survivor re-spawns on the beach. Maybe, if possible, these new characters would have some kind of marking, like a medal, or an armband, or something similar, indicating the player has managed to get a character to "escape" x amount of times. If a player gets to the carrier 4 times with various survivors, their new incarnation would have 4 medals on the chest, or an armband of whatever color for that number of escapes.
  14. Here is an idea to make the map more immersive. How about making the pumpkin patches harvestable for a food item? How about making the large wood pile objects and the stumps with axes stuck in them become harvestable for firewood and hatchets? Then you could lower the spawn incidence of wood piles and hatchets else where. Finally, is there any way to make dead player bodies that were killed by zombies re-animate as survivor skin zombies after a time?

    Hatchets, woodpiles, pumpkins, reanimated players

    I have noticed up to 3 hatchets spawning in some of the 3 level barns, if you limited that and made hatchets available where there are axes sticking out of stumps next to wood piles, it would let you spawn other items in barns, not eliminating the hatchet spawns there, but definitely lowering the occurence.
