Asdf, The install of ArmA 2 on your server does not need to be unique, thus can be your own personal copy. Easiest way to get it on there would be upload your actual game you have. There is no freeware dedicated server available. An ArmA 2 server requires the full game on the server box. Regards, Matt -
Hey all, As you can all tell, DayZ has a new Website and Forum. I thought I'd create a thread so you can share what you think about it, any problems you're having and anything else! For one, I think it looks amazing! Well done to the Website team!

If you have emailed [email protected] and have not recieved a reply in a while, please email; [email protected] - That's my new gmail. It'll be easier for me to track what I'm doing. So please use that, much easier than PM's. Regards, Matt -

Guatalian, Unfortunately I have been unable to see these servers for myself. Are you sure they were authorised? We have only given out the readme for setting up a server to one or two people within the last hour. If it was passworded before hand, it was most likely not a proper server with the current SQL .exe's running. We've had a few instances of players attempting to setup a server with the same modline with the current official servers, however failing to realise it requires much more than that to run a DayZ server. Regards, Matt -

For any server admins who have been hesitant to give RDP information to us, then don't be afraid, we are opening the doors for everyone to setup their own DayZ servers! However... In order to operate, you must first speak with a server administrator, such as myself, and we must issue you a Instance number. Every different server (even 2 on the same box) require it's own instance number, or mission ID number. At the moment, we're up to 130+. So if you would like to run your own server, then please let me know, and I will hand out the required readme and instance mission file for you to operate, run and maintain you're own server. BEWARE - The same restrictions apply to privately run servers! - IT MAY NEVER BE PASSWORDED - NO EXCESS KEYS OR MODS - NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATES - IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO UPDATE YOUR SERVER TO THE LATEST VERSION OF DAYZ Failure to adhere to these rules will BAN YOUR SERVER'S IP from DayZ. Let the games begin :) Regards, Matt -

Vipeax. I can't be certain, but I'd believe upwards of 2TB a month for two servers. The main concern with servers is the CPU Power. I've had a box with a Quad Core Sandy Bridge run at 100% with a 35/35 DayZ game. CPU is the main cruncher with ArmA servers. You might happily run 3 Battlefield 3 64 Player servers on the box, but ArmA is a completely different ballgame. Regards, Matt -

Hey guys, I just opened US9.
Antipop (DayZ) replied to Codeusa's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As stated in the email Andrew, please let us know of any problems. I'll be monitoring the server in the next few days. If all goes well, you may be able to host 2x 40 player servers per box. If bandwidth isn't an issue. Oh, here you go; Best of luck, Matt -

Antipop (DayZ) replied to Magic8Ball (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
G'day Borstal. That's a fairly solid box there mate. You can potentially host a 40 player server, or 2x 30. Bandwidth is your limitation, as is the only 3 core CPU. As Rocket said, Ram might be chewed fairly quickly. However, in my experience Ram isn't of big importance with ArmA servers... -

Private Messaged you back. If other hosts are in similar situations to Magic8Ball, please just PM me if you are getting no response from [email protected] (Remember that's the official email, give it a day or so) and I'll see what I can do. I'm not an official DayZ dev, but I do have Rocket on other forms of communication and will try and get in touch with him for you, I can also help you get everything sorted prior to a tick of approval from Rocket. -

DayZ Server admins - Post your performance tips
Antipop (DayZ) replied to Freeborne (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have tried 'AlwaysUp' application. However, same problem with HiveAuth, just didn't seem to work. Then running it outside of that program it worked fine. Not sure what the problem is there. On my US7 Server, Specs are a Intel® Xeon® CPU E31230 @ 3.20GHz and 1GB DDR3. With 32/32 players for three hours straight my memory used on the server has not gone above 60%, so ram is not a big issue with ArmA servers. My CPU does take a flogging. Sometimes it's constant 100%, other times it hovers around 70-80%. This is a full server. In terms of FPS, yeah, anything below 5 causes problems. I try to keep mine at around 12. I tried 40 slots and it dropped to 4-6. So 32 is a good value that keeps the server up and running for longer and the players enjoy a more pleasant gaming experience. ArmA determines their own configs if you don't provide one (I'm told by the faithful Rommel). So I just ran it for a few days, and it spat out a config I believe, and it actually has run smoother since then. In terms of Bandwidth, I have no idea. My box comes with unlimited/unmetered bandwidth, so I'm just turning a blind eye to that one haha But I'm glad to see everyone else has slow FPS aswell, it's not just me haha. -
New Server Install? Help?
Antipop (DayZ) replied to MarKeR (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
G'day Marker. In order for a DayZ server to work, you more or less need Remote Desktop Access, and a Windows Based Server (Linux isn't supported as of yet). Unfortunately this cannot be achieved with some servers, especially from providers such as GameServers. The reason for this is that DayZ servers use two more .exe applications alongside the ArmA 2 server. Drop [email protected] an email. All the best. -
Carpet. Is this server located in a data centre or just at your home? If I remember correctly, they are only using servers which are "proper" servers located at Data Centres that can have GB's(/TB's) of data transferred. I don't think they are allowing home servers to be used as of yet, although I could be wrong. Drop [email protected] an email and enquire.

NY | TX | AZ | ??? Discussion/Donations/Self Hosting [Host Altitude]
Antipop (DayZ) replied to jonnerz's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
With the AUS server, I'm sure that they'd be happy with 1x 60/70 player server with a ping limit rather than 2x 50 players, which, as Griff said, would chew through bandwidth.
