  1. Don't bash him for comparing SA to MMOs. Rocket invited that comparison by calling SA an MMO.

    Suggestion: multiple characters

I'm not sure the increase in "deathmatching" would be noticeable over what we see in the mod or what we are seeing in SA. Rocket has tried in the past to limit it, without success.

    Please fix doors!

OP has a point, though. Opening some doors only to have it slide you three feet back and to the right isn't terribly realistic itself, and breaks immersion. Every time it happens, I'm reminded I'm playing a BI game.

    DayZ in North America

Oh, I don't expect to see it any time soon, or even from the developers, but it is definitely on my Wish List.

    Suggestion: multiple characters

I have to admit, In the end I bought two copies of OA for this very reason. I enjoy playing with some old high school buddied. We live in 3 different timezones, some of us are married, and so on. Getting three or four of us together for a single play session was rare, and generally spontaneous. So I started playing two separate characters. One on my own, and one with the group. It just saves travel time and maximizes the time I have with friends.

    DayZ in North America

Not to hijack your thread, but what I would love to see one day is a very urban map with a lot of verticality. Explore from the depths of the sewers to the tops of skyscrapers, trying to travel as silently as possible, as you never know what could be around the next corner. I love the map, but I'd also love to experience the opposite.
  7. I also would like to see a more rapid day/night cycle. Work doesn't allow me much in the way of daytime play, so I have only seen the game at night. I'd love to change that.

    hmm, not sure about this

And there is absolutely no downside or impact upon your playing experience, either. In the mod, I enjoy day/night servers, but I also enjoy servers with custom locations, or using other maps, etc. most servers have their own charm, and it keeps more players invested overall. And lord knows, with hacking and other issues, keeping people invested can't have been easy. So let server hosts do as they will, and stick with the servers you like the most.

In game names are steam names. And yes, people can be incredibly offensive.

DayZ UI / HUD Photoshoped *UPDATED*

Show us some more. I'm not amazed, but I think there's potential.

Ah, my mistake. I though he was referring to combat logging in general. Glowing would indeed by the wrong way to do it.

I like the death when disconnecting while unconscious or restrained. Those look like good changes. Doesn't mention anything about pure combat logging, though.

Or just do what other PVP oriented MMOs do, and don't despawn your character if you log out until the timer finishes. EVE is a great example of this. If you log out with an active combat flag, your ship/character remain in space until it ends, even if you've shut the client down.

Seven seconds, is nothing, though. That's not much different than the current situation.

But that, I feel would be ineffective. What about people who take fire from 20 or 50 meters and log out? Or someone who takes a round in the leg from a distant shot? By the time the shooter has gotten to within the proximity range of the otherwise incapacitated target, they've logged. It's a tricky issue, though, and without a clear solution. I still like the idea of an interuptable timer. Say you are with a partner. One of you has shot someone in the leg, and they crawl behind a wall. One of you could keep up "suppressing fire" at the area of the player to keep him from logging out, while the other sneaks up to disarm/caputure/dispatch the player.

I don't like how that will negatively impact people who play together. Personally, I am most in favor of a timer, something along the lines of 20-30 seconds that can be interrupted by both the player (ie., you don't lose control while it proceeds, but can still look around. If you move, use and item, or perform a similar action it resets or stops), and by other players (like the combat indicator in the mod. If you're attacked or shot at, etc, it cancels or resets the timer). This would serve, in my opinion, as a balance between nullifying combat logging and not screwing over players who are legitimately logging out. While some people wont like the idea that other players can reset the timer, I think it suits the game. If you're pinned down behind a tree, or trapped inside a building by players, you shouldn't be able to easily log off. You should have to deal with such tactical disadvantages. Having an NPC replace the character is an interesting idea, but it sounds to me like it would be an awkward system.

Why are so many 'Bronies' into DayZ?

Compared to what? Compared to the DayZ fanbase, bronies seem fucking timid to me.

Arma 2's mechanics make dayz lame

ArmA2 also didn't have nearly as many active players before DayZ came along.
  19. I have to disagree, there. I find night servers, after the initial shock, are actually much easier. Perhaps that's because I don't go out of my way to hunt players, and nighttime really nerfs zombies more than players. That said, I think think 3rd person does detract from the survivalist nature of the game, and I wouldn't complain if it were removed.

Arma 2's mechanics make dayz lame

I suppose the hope would be that someone in a position of power would come across it and note that some people feel that the engine is, in at least some ways, outdated and archaic, and that some people believe the engine's limitations are becoming increasingly noticeable and obstructs both creativity and immersion. While the OP's dickish tone worked overtime to undermine his own points, there isn't anything inherently disrespectful in voicing displeasure in an engine. ARMA 2 felt awkward and outdated when it was still young, and with a mod like DayZ pushing it to it's very limit, it's downright painful at times. I'm still plying DayZ, and I still enjoy it much of the time, but there's no denying that long-standing engine limitations and bugs are a huge detractor. There's no guarantee the next iteration of Bohemia's engine will overcome these issues, but we won't know until it's here, and Rocket is, for obvious reasons, sticking with it. Edit: On the upside, I'm confident we may well see some engine updates that the devs had not considered before DayZ became such a hit.

This community has become so poisonous that speaking out against a clearly outdated engine invites fantastic levels of fanboy rage.

Is Morphine rare or what v

Hospitals tend to have 3 or 4 medical boxes in them, containing 5 of each of the following: Painkillers, Blood Bags, Epi Pens, and Morphine. That's 15 to 20 (as a minimum) in each hospital. They also spawn, though less commonly, in military sites. All-in-all, they're not very rare.
