Even with gamma, I can't make out anything at night. Not even the outlines of buildings. Might have something to do with my setup, but I've heard a lot of the same from people since the last update. As it is, nighttime becomes unplayable for me. Flashlights help illuminate buildings from a distance, but becomes useless once I close in, so looting is essentially a no go at night. And they leave me defenseless, so night combat is out, as well. It doesn't leave me with much to do. Still looking for an alternative. Hopefully I'll find a headlamp.

Or watching as it falls through the floor/ground...

Today I finally checked out the Elektro fire station and found my first pair of handcuffs and a set of keys. I am wondering, are these metal handcuffs the only ones in game, and if so, is it true you can break out of them by rolling around on the ground? I've tried to find participants to test this on, but people I encounter have generally been... Reluctant.

With over 5 million revenue in sales.....

Though I Agee it will surpass the mod in numbers, given the last time I checked the mod still hasn't hit 2 mil. -

Where did you get that number? DayZ site says something like 350k. -
Latest patch (or the next one) kills players who log off while handcuffed.

I don't see a problem with a shorter day/night cycle. You get more variety within a game session. It seems to me (for what that's worth) that it would be relatively easy just to let hosts set the length of a day.

Bring back weapon lengths obscuring your movement indoors.

Oz: the only problem with it, though, is that it forced you to crawl or vault through some doorways :( -
Thanks Mosley! The backpack idea is neat (and what I was trying to use it for), but at the moment, backpacks are much more common than either rope or burlap sacks. Also: I think I'll start referring to SA as Extraordinary Rendition Online.

Some people find it fun, of course. Despite the danger, there's nothing I enjoy more in DayZ than an unexpected firefight. That's not quite the same as what the snipers do, but it comes from the same place: enjoyment. I agree, put the content in place, and let the community do with it as they like. There's room for everyone.

I had always assumed it was an issue with backpacks, not weapons. But you have a point. -
Ah, thanks. I ask because I thought I recalled Rocket saying something about plastic ties. As a related question, I came across a burlap sack today, but couldn't seem to put anything in it or use it in any way. Is it meant to be used on... Other people?

Even the friendly and well-adjusted of us can turn to KOSing after one too many bad encounters.

Kom, the problem with region locking is that anyone who only has the evening off is forced to play during night time, or use a server in a different region/continent, which increases their lag. I'm all for giving the server hosts the option to define day length. Everyone wins.

[Suggestion] Blood test kit part of the first aidl kit
louist replied to roadlesstraveled's topic in General Discussion
I'd also like to see more variety in kits. -
Ah, ninja'd.

The most famous are, of course, "Friendly!"

It would be nice if we could harvest those pumpkins I see everywhere.

I think the reason for the outcry against Nighttime
louist replied to Gth's topic in General Discussion
Might do, though that won't fix the flashlight :( -
I think the reason for the outcry against Nighttime

With gamma and brightness maxed, I still can't make out anything, so I'm not sure that's much help. I seriously can't see anything except the skybox. A flashlight only helps so much, and tends to get one shot. A little more ambient light, or improving the flashlight so that light diffuses realistically would help a lot. -
T-Dawg: It seems to vary. Even with gamma and brightness maxed, I can't make out anything more than the tops of buildings and trees against the sky. Given that my free time is at night, that makes it rather difficult. A flashlight helps, but given the issues with light diffusion, it's actually not that useful indoors. Still looking for a lamp to use, though it's like a beacon for everyone within a kilometer or two :(

I've asked nicely! And very rarely do I encourage them with .45 rounds. Very rarely!

Death: you're assuming the zombie outbreak came and killed/infected everyone immediately and instantaneously. I see it taking time, with people trying to survive for a while before us "survivors" arrived. That would explain some of the doors blocked off by furniture, or while the fire hall has been stocked with weapons and other paramilitary gear. People clearly tried to hold out in there.

I wouldn't be against a smaller variant that is more common, while the other's are scaled down in the loot tables. The world is filled with little daypacks and school bags, after all.

Wearing a mask and running around with an axe is great fun. For best results, scream unintelligently in direct.
