Thank God. Hope this disgrace is over now. They should sue the Greek government in front of the Brussels court of humanitatian rights, the least they should get is financial compensation for their suffering.

Interview with Matthew Lightfoot
[email protected] replied to griffinz's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Check Rocket's reply on reddit. He also considers the above basic as in 'simple'. However, he said they're working on the complex issues first (client and server data storage and communication) and try to get them stable. Rocket said Zombie AI stuff is rather easy and they like to tackle the harder parts first as a 'proof of concept'. When that's done, the easy stuff like Zombie AI should be a breeze. That's why I am willing to wait on these walking/AI/movement issues and happily allow them all the time in the world to tackle the architectural issues in a first release. -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Has there been any mention on the humanity/bandit system for the SA? Has this been given any new thought for the initial release or will it be addressed in subsequent versions? -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?

Just wait until the SA comes out. You won't believe the bad mood the missus is gonna be in once she realizes she's not #1 on the priority list for a good while :D -
Just wanted to make a quick post what worked for me when dealing with the dreaded "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" issue. I have a AMD Radeon 7600 and Arma 2/Dayz was crashing every once in a while for me, especially at the loading screen. The main window would freeze, become black and then a popup in the taskbar would have the above message. I would have to restart ARMA in order to login again. I was using AMD catalyst control center 12.6 when that happened. Updated to 12.7, same thing. Then I uninstalled all AMD drivers. Then used the free version of "DRIVER FUSION" to remove all residual AMD driver and dll files, downloaded at http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion Rebooted, then I installed the 12.3 version of AMD catalyst and... no more crashes! Works fine now. Hope this helps a few equally frustrated ones out there. Good luck.

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
[email protected] replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I completely understand Rocket when he doesn't want to give out more specifics. All we need to know really is that they're working on it and coming along fine. Any more details just would end up twisting our expectations and also giving competing games 'food for thought'. All I was worrying about was that the SA has somehow been derailed (health issues, stress, burn out?) but that seems to be off the table now. I feel relieved. -
Today was impossible to play

Try hive.mydayz.de private server. Uses a whitelist. Never seen a hacker on there. -
My Arma II stopped saving the video options. Whenever I change the video options they will be reset after restarting the game. Anybody know how to fix this? I checked the [profile name].ArmA2OAProfile in the documents folder and it is not write protected.

Arma not saving video options
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hmmm I checked again and it seems Arma2 is constantly changing back the "ArmA 2 Other Profiles" Folder permissions to read-only. I change it to enable writing and upon starting ArmA it's changed back to read-only. Settings aren't saved. I also tried using a new player profile, no luck. -
I always hide bodies with hacked-in weapons. Don't carry the TWS around, if you get killed someone else gets the chance to use an overpowered weapon. Just destroy it by moving it to a full backpack.

First bandit adventure in cherno.
[email protected] replied to Sixsillysins's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Welcome to Dayz. One thing: You walked into the store, you didn't 'secure' it. There's no such thing as 'securing' anything in DayZ.You will know what I mean after you've been killed a dozen time after you thought you secured a location. -
Hacker attack.. CLICK HERE.
[email protected] replied to Mikeymike5531's topic in New Player Discussion
Lean to live with them while you wait for DayZ standalone. My hope is that eliminating hacking will be made priority after the intial standalone release. It is impossible to fix as a mod for Arma 2. -
Killing a sniper is the easiest way to get a sniper rifle. Head to the popular spots in Cherno and Elektro and look for sounds of sniper rifles, then try to ambush them.
-
M14 is one of the best rifles for close combat, as50 for long range. It's a great combo. Another nice one is M14 + DMR as they can share the same ammo. Given the choice between l85 and m14 I'd take the m14 every time. Especially because you can use m14 with NVGs.

Petition to Boycott Standalone (until hacking is resolved)
[email protected] replied to HITPhoenix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's a ridiculous post. It's impossible to fix hacking on the mod. The standalone is the only way to combat hacking and cheating and that's what you want to boycot? -

Freudian slip I take it :) Baklava is this, I also would love a piece: You probably mean balaclava: -

Oh sweet, finally I can stack up on tincans for the hospitals. -
Cause they aren't built as mods but as standalone games?
-
Yes, that's what they said in the ArsTechnica article about DayZ standaloneSee http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/08/from-mod-to-game-how-dayz-will-evolve-as-a-standalone-release/
-
Rocket has been stating that he was in 'negotiations with different parties' for a standalone DayZ game well before WarZ was even announced. So, not it's not an obvious reaction to WarZ. It's just the announcement of a legal agreeement with BI he has been working on for a couple of weeks.

Nightmare inducing mad axeman - Scary stuff
[email protected] replied to Optimist (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Yea that was excellent scripting. Like from a slasher movie. -
LOL Yea we have seen concept art screenshots of WarZ. Not even a video. If I was Rocket I'd be sleeping very sound at night knocking that WarZ is a bunch of vaporware and empty promises rather than an actual game that is about to be released.
-
When can we pre-order the standalone. I'd like to support the development as early as possible. Did Minecraft have preorders without a downloadable alpha?
-
Exactly. Whenever I saw these idiotic 'Why aren't they fixing this, why aren't they fixing that' posts I thought 'Well they're probably working on getting that agreement with BI signed and working on the standalone already'.
