Anyone who can help a hacker victim?
madzeds replied to madzeds's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was a member of Vigilante addiction's whitelisted servers but I imagine they did some housekeeping of non active members because I don't have access any longer. Will seek refuge elsewhere I suppose. -

Hmm how do? In main menu? -
I had left this mod awhile back due to my hectic schedule and irl things. I came back last week, only to be hacked on my first sit down. I was teleported to the middle of the ocean and have not been able to get back by downgrading or exiting on loading. Is there anyother method besides waiting for your character to starve or dehydrate to death? I need some help to be able to join the ranks of humans again as life as a merman is quite boring. Any Ideas?

Refer back to my post. ANYONE who disagrees with your ideas is "bad." Your idea is shit and you're weak. You need to think of something better than an auto turret to protect your gear. I've had a vehicle for a week without parking it off the map. Can YOU say that? I'm sorry but the technology involved to create a turret that can distinguish friend from foe is by far more advanced than anything you could currently protect with it, which makes it overpowered and out of place. You need a vocabulary lesson. Entitled AND dumb. lol

"Everyone who disagrees with me is bad. The turret I'm suggesting is weak, useless, and easy to kill. Unless there is someone there to feed it (some one who could, say perhaps, defend a base.) I have the best ideas ever. Anyone who disagrees is a dummy." Fixed. P.S. Your welcome. P.S.S. I am not a bad "solo" player. I have and will continue to seek out friendly players to join my group and we will acquire vehicles to have fun with. I will not cry when those vehicles go missing due to a bug or some jerk off catching us off guard and taking it.

I am Johnny noob. I have found a working helicopter not far outside a town. I did crash it. I didn't raid their camp, and I was shot at before entering said heli. (Their sniper needs practice.) As much fun as it was for them to find that heli, fix it, use it to set up there base, take it out to raid, and covet it. I guarantee I had 10x the amount of fun running up to it as fast as I could in a serpentine and stealing it. Sorry, but your clans idea of fun is THRIVING. MY idea of fun is SURVIVING. I think we both know which of those things this game is about.

Well.. No offense, but it sounds like you don't want to play a realistic post apocalyptic zombie survival sandbox game set in a post war soviet country. It sounds much more like you want to play a base building game set in a futuristic or modern setting. I'm not saying that the two are mutually exclusive, but dayz "as is" is nowhere near what your suggesting. The level of "turrets" and base building your talking about is crazy. How immersive is a survival-pvp-zombie game, where you can basically leave your crap laying around and feel secure in your items safekeeping as long as you log in once a day and fill a generator? You SHOULD have to worry about random people stumbling upon your shit and stealing it. You SHOULD have to restart afterwards, not revel in your drone armies capability in protecting your crappy akm, NVG, and blood bags.... The most funny thing to me is that what your suggesting is SO much more advanced than anything you could protect with it. Tell me one item in this game that is more valuable than an automated targeting turret? That's like me suggesting a nuclear deterrent in a game about farming so that people don't steal your fertilizer. Whats next? O FUCK MAN SOMEONE BROKE MY TURRET!!! ROCKET NEEDS TO ADD ROBOT DOGS THAT PATROL MY BASE TO PROTEXT MAH TURRETS WHILE I EAT HOT POCKETS AND SLEEP! Sorry, whereas your ambition is great and it would change the game in big ways, I feel that the biggest point of the mod is to show people a world in which nothing is permanent. Be it your vehicles, weapons, food, drink or for that matter your life. At any point if you feel "SAFE" in any of those aspects, something about the spirit of DAYZ as we know and love it, will be lost forever.

Have you ever shot someone non lethally only to have them disconnect? Have you ever seen a zombie crazy train run through Cherno following a looter only to see them disappear in a field, leaving 15+ zombies with nothing better to do but meander through a field? My suggestion doesn't fix loot cycling, server hopping (in a broad sense), or a slew of other imperfection in this alpha, but I do believe it would be possible and beneficial. What I suggest has been suggested before as well, although it may not have been worded as such. It exists in countless other games but is lacking for some reason in our persistant sandbox zombie survival game. It is a combat system. Defined in this post as an API or parameter that would tell the client and host whether or not zombies were actively attacking or running at you (not just "investigating a noise",) and whether you had shot or been shot by another player. Said parameter would trigger a state (true or false) which would affect your ability to log out of the game. Now to be fair and to add to the basic implementation of such a system, being shot at may not trigger such a combat state (I.E. you would actaully have to be shot.) This would stop, what may be an overzealous attempt to implement this, bugging anyone in a .5 km area of any gunshot from logging out unfairly. Lets start small. I remember the first time I realized that logging out could save yor life. It was long before we started with no sidearm, long before we reached 100,000 player (yeah, I realize I haven't been active on these forums,) long before it was even a big issue. I was running from a fleet of inescapable, un-aggroable zeds when my computer crashed. I had a bit of kit and a primary but was running out of town so I wouldn't ring the dinner with my enfield when my pc crashed. I frantically rebooted and logged back into dayz with hopes that I may be able to find my half eaten corpse and re-loot what I had scavenged. I loaded in only to find that I was still alive. I wasn't even bleeding. Simply confused I trotted on, not knowing that players all over where using this as a way to escape any and all danger they where confronted with. How hard could this be in a simulator which can do so many things... Combat=1 or combat= 0. Maybe I'm way off base here but this game seems to be able to tell zombies when to attack you, it is able to tell you when you are bleeding due to a gun shot. Is it not feasible that it could then stop you from logging off if one of those things has happened? TL;DR: WTF, Why can I alt+F4 out of anything. Fixing it seems simple. What roadblocks are developers facing in making this into a VERY basic fix immediately?

Global chat server?
madzeds replied to joe.gaming890@hotmail.co.uk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Reluctantly, ( I love immersion) I agree, but please only text on side channel. I always hated the people who would start screaming crap over voice com on side channel as I was cautiously looting a dangerous area. However I reveled in the joy of being able to chat (text) with people in side chat about silly crap or meeting up or needing meds etc. My vote definitely is placed in recognition of the fact that immersion in this game can be invigorating without sidechat. Sometimes its more fun to be able to communicate with people it is a game after all. An option to turn the chat off when you don't want to be bothered by it but still have it there for those who want it would be great. -
After I kill a man for his beans, I listen to Everlast - ends Singing along replacing the word ends for beans.... I lol everytime.

So, none of you vets coulda mentioned not to put it under a tree lol... O well.... If someone reading this didn't know, if you put your tent under a tree, you will be unable to interact with it.

What the hell is with item spawning? Nothing is spawning, and when it does it vanishes.
madzeds replied to Gashed's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nobody talks about it because anytime anyone explains how loot works. Everyone flames and calls the knowledge to be an exploit. (Loot cycling etc.) Which is strange because if you were told how loot works but noone explained how it respawns and cycles your really only getting half the story. Basically, when you begin to see a town, zoom in, if there are no zombies than there is also no loot. When you get close enough for zombies to spawn, it takes a few additional minutes for loot to spawn. So wait. I know this explanation is very flawed and there are exceptions and yada yada. On a side note, has anyone else noticed zombies continuing to spawn at deer stands nearly everyother minute? I walked into visual sight of a deerstand and watched the 1st 3 zeds spawn so I knew the loot wouldn't be there if I went right up to it as fast as I could. So I waited about 40 meters away (I think you have to be about 30 meters away for the loot to spawn) and went afk in the trees. Came back 10 minutes later and there were at least 15 zeds wandering around. I have been able to reproduce this multiple times just as stated. If anything in this thread is not just inaccurate but blatantly wrong, I am sorry. I am not trying to spread disinformation. Edit: If you log off on a loot pile and log back in it will despawn and you'll have to leave the area to get a respawn of that loot... Probably so you can't just go server to server right on top of piles and looting them. -
Putting live grenades in other peoples' backpacks.

Smoke grenades too lol... In the middle of a town this could be very funny. -
New player animation (Play dead) + other changes
madzeds replied to jaynich's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Also, add a "zombie like" walk or crawl. So you can kinda look like a hopper or walker from a distance. -
Kind of off topic. But someone needs to remake this song. Everlast - Ends Obviously, renamed to beans. Clearly appropriate.
