I don't agree with the "be more careful", (because you could be as careful as could possibly be entertaining and still get screwed, easily) but getting rid of the seriousness of losing your char would be going in the wrong direction.

Really, if all the intentional misdirection were stopped: the above would read: The whole Zombie theme needs to be turned WAY down and/or dropped completely (does ARMA 2 feature a rabbit theme because rabbits roam its countryside?). The theme and colors should be standard green camo, with say the logo being a criss-crossed pair of rifles, backdrop to a skull. The titling font should be redone into standard military cut-out font or maybe a variation thereof to indicate para/post-military forces. What's going on at the moment is nothing short of repackaging PR, doing up some artwork in a space theme, calling it "Space Wars", then when the thousands of space-sim fans come pouring in wanting to know where the space simulation part of the game is, you tell them that it's all an experiment and that they're fighting a battle. On Earth. And Earth is in space. Best summary yet. Except it's so much worse than a death match for those who aren't initiated yet. The second I realized what it was I stopped playing. I'm not being the collector for these assholes to get gear. Let them figure it out when those of us who wanted PvP to be just a PART of the game as opposed to the whole thing are all gone. Which will NOT be long. I can't imagine people blowing more than 20 or so hours with this rinse repeat ganking till they say fuck it.

Deathmatch with a side of zombies EDITED FOR IDIOTS
bacon55 (DayZ) replied to MrShovelFace's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't use flares, I don't announce my location on comms unless absolutely necessary, and "defending myself" against someone 500m away with an assault rifle is not possible. Apparently at this point it's gotten so bad I have to shoot anyone I see before they see me. That's not good gameplay, that's fucking stupid, and the game won't last if it continues. Anyone defending it wants this mod to burn out as the fodder is going to stop coming, and thus the long distance PK'rs are left with nothing to do, and leave. -
Deathmatch with a side of zombies EDITED FOR IDIOTS
bacon55 (DayZ) replied to MrShovelFace's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Every point was valid. As well frustration is completely understandable given the time required to actually get things not being a PK'er, and getting ganked by the same sort of idiot who teamkills in regular Arma. The shiftless morons who get banned now have an outlet. I've stopped playing until something is done about it. I give the mod a week max before the actual players are tired of being fodder. -
You don't know your history. Many areas have suffered conditions (minus zombies) very much like those depicted in game. From major disaster areas with no outside help to the colonization of unknown wilderness. Generally speaking even in crisis situations people just don't go on shooting rampages. Anyway the argument is stupid, people respawn, there is no actual simulation of survival. Moving right along. Stop bringing it up.

The primary reason why the bullshit survival argument doesn't hold any water.

Hello, Well, in my opinion you can survive with teamwork yes. The hardest part would be to find another person who wouldn't like to kill you. In those situations some people might get jealous of the weapon you have and murder you in the night. You never know if you are being used by another person. As in, you and the other guy are headed to a location where a lot of loot might be, they could end up killing you and keeping all of the loot for themselves. All of this happens in real life, but in an un-controllable scenario like this it would be most present. We have not yet faced a Zombie Appocalypse so nobody can judge the outcome of friendship. You might meet up with somebody who looks like a nice guy, but is slowly becoming insane. When a person becomes insane they can become very deadly and attack you, even if you have been their friend for a very long time. Our brain is complex, a wolf would survive longer then any human would because they have more instinct to survive then we do. All of our instinct to survive has almost been wiped out because of everything we have invented to make life easier. Overall, yes. You can be friendly to some people, but some others may have to be put down. As from many games you have your Bandits or Psychopaths who will also kill you on sight. So, in my opinion, I shoot to kill if they are hostile. If I was able to reason with an un-armed survivor then yeah, we could team up. Since we have never experienced a true apocalypse in real life we have no understanding of what the outcome might be. ~Derranged Humans have, however, been utterly isolated from society and government, and here's a hint, it didn't turn into a bloodbath free for all.

This cannot be repeated enough. There's some serious cognitive dissonance going on in the brains of a lot of the denizens here.

Too bad the bandits get to as well.

Starter pistol change to beretta

Bizarre, I swear I found a Makarov SD and ammo for it on a dead guy. -

I sure hope the ammo is easier to find. I didn't see it in the changelog, and I've seen very little ammo for that gun. -
Zombies: why they are silly and unbalanced
bacon55 (DayZ) replied to Muffinman840's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd just like to have them eventually stop following you. 50 zombies could literally chase you from Chernogorsk to Krasnotstav. -

The Zombie aggro thing sounds like it would solve this very easily. Wouldn't be hard to set up a trigger either.
-
-
Definitely with you on the aggro attracting Zombies. There needs to be more benefit to working together, and less benefit for being an asshole.
-
-
Time for a new graphic card. That's almost certainly the issue.

Signed up just to comment on this. Killed every zombie in Kamenka (accidentally had to, got too close to one while stealth), and within less than a minute they were all back. That's ridiculous. Half an hour would be more appropriate, or a steady respawn rate). 10% of every zombie on the map was crowding around those docks. Not sure how the spawn works. IE I know that towns without players don't actually have zombies yet, there is a trigger based on proximity, but the respawn based on that proximity seems to be way off what would be reasonable, even compared to Dead Rising which had uber respawning zombies.
