Where not killing make believe creatures??? Did you find a study about the effects of bullet damage on zombies while you were goggling? Bullet damage is bullet damage, yes. But if you shot me in the hand with a .50 cal and I shot you in the brain stem with a 9MM who is going to receive the most harm? What if you shot me in the back through my back pack with a 7.62MM and hit engine parts I have in there and I shot you in the face with a 9MM, who will come off second best? As I said there are far to many variables to calculate precise amounts of weapon damage, so they change things to create balance in the game. If you got a problem with the balance that's fine but don't try and pull the realism card on it because realism in a game just isn't realistic.

Tactical vests and clothing relating to inventory space
schrapple replied to Bukethead's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not disagreeing, I love the idea. I just think that the large majority of carrying equipment we should be dealing with in the game should be civilian more so than military. We should be scrounging through peoples homes looking for jackets with large pockets, cargo pants and childrens backpacks, everyday items that we can improvise with.I think making do with what's on hand to survive is a better game experience than finding specialized military equipment that is perfect for the job. -
Loot Damage! Making you think more before PlayerKilling

BUMP!!!! Was going to start a thread suggesting this but found this thread, I think this would be great. Thumbs up. -
Tactical vests and clothing relating to inventory space
schrapple replied to Bukethead's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the principal of the idea. But my problem with it is that this is specialized military stuff, not the kind of stuff you find laying around in peoples houses post apocalypse. Maybe the idea should be applied to the combinations of civilian bags you can carry like school back packs, laptop cases and shoulder bags. Have the full military gear as rare finds, like if you come across a chopper crash or a dead soldier. -
Here you go bud. enjoy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time-out_%28parenting%29
-
Thumbs down on this one bud, this game is about a struggle just to survive. Cruising around safely in a mobile hotel room with all the mod cons is basically the complete opposite of the principal of the game.

Yer, and then the avengers can come riding my little ponys and the ponys can shoot rainbows out the arses and protect the people spawning and then the guys from twilight can come and distract the ponys with a love story and then a giant Justin Bieber can come and kill the ufo.

The physics of bullet don't really work in real world applications, especially considering that we are killing a make believe creature. There are to many variables to apply a formula straight to bullet damage. All they can do is try to balance gun damage as they see fit.
-
I think all the great features of all the movies I have seen and all the books I have ever read should be included in this one game, that would be really cool until I woke up and realized that I'M NOT NINE FUCKING YEARS OLD ANYMORE!!!! and that scrambling everything I like into one foul concoction would be fucking terrible.

Cigarettes should reduce stress and claim your nervous, then you get hooked and if you don't have them your stress should go through the roof.

Oh yer, we really need more incentive for people to act like little teenage pricks on this game, they should get rid of the turban and add a massive cock and balls to your forehead. -
More bikes of a lower quality please.

Don't feed it.

Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome
schrapple replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I disagree, being able to go back to save gear is like having a second life. Once you die you're dead, you should lose everything and have to start again. -
Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome
schrapple replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Check out my suggestion on the matter of a penalty for dying, it won't solve all the issues but it would help. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68352-tag-items-add-incentive-not-to-die/#entry653177 -
Things like that won't deepen the game play, it's just dressing up a feature that already exists.
-
It's all academic really considering that bikes are like rocking horse shit. What I really want to see is more bikes.

Can someone help me get started?
schrapple replied to misterwrinkly's topic in New Player Discussion
http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page Check this out it explains most things in easy terms, it also has short tutorial videos (unlike most YouTube vids that feel they need to be27 minutes long to show you how to start a fire) Also don't fall for this DO NOT TRUST anyone bullshit, they tell you this and now everyone is so scared they all shoot on sight. Fact is most people playing are friendly and have no interest in killing you, it is the smaller percentage of players that will kill you. -
+1 I Don't claim to know what rockets vision was and is for this game but I'm pretty sure hording gear wouldn't have been part of it.
-
I remember playing for the first few times and i felt absolute terror, once you have good stuff it gets to a point where you have very little to fear from the game. It needs to be a constant struggle to survive, not just a struggle while you are starting out.
-
I'm getting the impression that I'm not the only one getting sick of people becoming indestructible one man armys when the game is suppose to be about just surviving, the game seems much to easy when you're on top.
-
That's the good thing, even if someone else picked it up they couldn't give it back to the dead man after he restarted. The item would be tagged forever and you couldn't ever pick it up again.

How about adding a buttstoke (and a piston whip for pistol if you are desperate) melee attack for rifles? It would be useful for silently killing zombies and for those times you run out of ammo and have a zombie munching on you while you are changing mags. It could also be useful for balancing guns since heavier weapons like the old shotguns would do more melee damage then newer light weight military rifles like the M4.
