  1. Before I start this isn't a teary rant about hacks or bugs or anything like that. When I play I am killed or lose my stuff far more often from a bug ,hack or update than I do from being killed by a zombie, player or lack of food/water. Is this much the same for everyone else or am I just really really lucky?

    How do you normally die?

Ummm, I live in the first world. So yer.

    Why is everyone so agressive?

What is the point if everyone does nothing but shoot on sight, you may as well just give the zombies guns.

I've had several broken legs just from crawling, it's not dead but without morphine it's the same thing. I've been killed by invisible zombies twice now as well.

    .......

I hope they are as good as the youtube vids that take 27 minutes for a tutorial on how to light a fire, they are the best.

    Why is everyone so agressive?

One of the biggest problems is that beginners guides (including the one found on this forum) all tell everyone to shoot on sight. Because of that everyone shoots on sight, so new players get killed the instant someone sees them because everyone is so goddamn paranoid about being shoot. Then the new player learns the only way to survive is to shoot whoever you see on sight. It's a downward spiral started by bad advice in beginners guides (did I mention this forum has a guide that says that???).
  7. Just had a quick idea to stop people picking up their old stuff off their body after they die or having huge stashes of stuff, since being able to get your stuff or other good items straight back makes people less concerned about dying and they take more risks (like trying to kill others). What if everything you have recently owned and own when you die was tagged so that you can never pick it up again? So basically everyone starts from scratch again after they have died. I think this will make people more cautious with their lives in the game and may help slow the PvP a bit.

Make DayZ equal to real life

+1 Love how everyone gets on here wanting this and that changed so it is more "realistic", but I haven't seen one complaint that being able to sprint indefinitely and that not needing to sleep is not "realistic".

I am also truly amazed that this one stopped here, come on interweb you can do better than this.

    Mandatory 3rd person disabled

It doesn't emulate a sense, it compensates for other senses that aren't reproduced effectively enough by the game. For example your visual field in real life is quite big, it can be up to 200 degrees (that is 100 degrees each side of your nose. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_field) . That means that you can actually see behind you slightly, when in first person your visual field would be lucky to be 90 degrees. At the end of the day neither first or third views are realistic, it is no more realistic to be able to see around corners than it is to not be able to see some standing right next to you. Everything in a game is a compromise or an interpretation of real life, nothing is ever fully realistic.

    Mandatory 3rd person disabled

Playing in third person is unrealistic but so is playing in the first person view, you can't reproduce the senses of the human body so you have to try and create substitutes.

Make DayZ equal to real life

Are you serious? people instantly kill everyone they see, how on earth are two people ever going to communicate long enough to arrange sex without shooting each other. (and yes I do realize how many openings for cheesey jokes I included)

    hot airballoon

That would look really good in somebody's horded collection of vehicles, I'm quite sure that the one person per server who ever actually got to see it would love it.

    World War weapons

I may not be as clever as yourself but at least I bothered to read what the thread is actually about (you're probably to smart to do a silly thing like that?). The discussion was realistically what WW2 weapons would be around this region, since it is a fictional place and not the Czech republic it doesn't really matter. The terrain modeled is from a satellite picture of a region in Czech and that has no effect on what weapons would be around since the entire place is fictional. You could add what ever weapons you liked and there is no chance of making a situation that contradicts current reality since the whole place is make believe. To sum up, this game is not based in the Czech republic (it uses a modeled piece of terrain from a satellite photo that is from a region in the Czech republic). It is fictional so you can add what ever you like with upsetting the balance of the universe.

    World War weapons

There is no such thing as a Cyrillic language, there is Cyrillic script which both languages use but it is only a set of characters. Czech and Russian are no more interchangeable than English and French. Also the languages that are currently spoken in countries are not "history", history is things that have happened prior to now (probably wouldn't hurt to remember this). Next time you use goggle to try and embarrass someone on a forum I suggest you actually read the source material, And if I needed to know something about the world the last person I would ask would be someone from Alabama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrillic_script http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_language http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_language

    World War weapons

So based on that logic if I am playing a game that takes place in a city where everything is written in Chinese and I can see the Eiffel tower I should assume it is "based" on New York???

    World War weapons

If it is based in the Czech Republic why is there an ocean and why are the street signs written in Russian?

    Respawn confusion?

Hi guys, I thought with the new patch that if you broke your leg you were allowed to respawn and you would keep your stuff? I broke my leg (just crawling on the ground near a tiny town miles from anywhere that would have morphine) so I respawned but lost all my gear.

    World War weapons

Should I have seen that the game is based in the Czech republic when I spawned on the beach???

    World War weapons

WTF??? how is this game based in the Czech republic??? The Czech republic has no coast line.

    Player Punishment Ratio Unacceptable

And yet there are over a million people playing it. If there is a lesson here it is for game developers so listen carefully, STOP TELLING US WHAT WE WANT IN A GAME, LISTEN TO WHAT WE WANT!!!. Game developers have focused grouped the industry to the point that all new games now are the same bland grey blobs of nothingness. This game still makes me feel terror when I play and emotion is something no other games has been able to produce in a long time.

    Respawn confusion?

Thanks Arch (thanks for being not being a teenage tard as well unlike others), I wasn't sure if that was the case or if I had encountered a bug. Not happy that you can break your leg just by crawling through the grass :( .

    Working together

I think there are three main things that would help this problem of people not working together. Firstly we need to stop people from being able to horde and save things (no tents, no vehicle saves, no getting someone to pick up your stuff for you or picking it up from your dead body), if death meant you lost everything and started again with literally zero then people would be a lot more cautious about shooting at each other. Second, Healing from injury should be a slower process. If you get hit while fighting a player you will easily kill and it means that for a couple of hours you can only walk or pass out from time to time then you would be very careful about getting even a small injury. The problem is two people fight and one minute later the winner is fine again even if he got hit two or three times. Thirdly, I think we need a lot less loot and a very basic economy model (even if it is just barter based). If you needed to interact with others to get basic things to survive there would be a lot more team work going on. Just my thoughts on the matter, nothing written here is perfect or a silver bullet cure. just things I feel would go a long way to getting people to work together.

We want a Bandit Bandana instead of towel

You're right, killing someone doesn't make you a little teenage prick. It is the motivation behind killing someone that is the important thing. Once you've reached a point where you can comfortably survive and you kill people just to be a prick then you qualify as a little teenage prick.

Yet another topic about guns balance.

There is literally almost nothing authentically represented in this or any other game for that matter. Your example of zombies being infected people that are still alive is a good one, if that is the case then they should be as hard to kill as a survivor. You can't sprint for an infinite amount of time without getting tired, you don't die if you don't eat every 40 minutes, you need sleep, you can drink from a tap without a water bottle, you can crawl up a single step, you can't see yourself in the third person, you don't instantly gain blood from eating cooked meat, you could stab a zombie with a hunting knife, morphine doesn't fix broken bones. The list is literally infinite. Everything has to be represented by a value that makes the game work and guns are no exception, to blindly apply "real world" damage to a weapon based on the momentum of it's round regardless of the effect it had on the games balance would be suicide for a game and it could end up unplayable. But simply the real world has to be interrupted and adjusted in games, "realism" has to be sacrificed. And the question wasn't would I die if I was shot in the hand with a .50 cal, it was which of us would receive the most harm and instant death from a bullet to your brain stem massively outweighs an amputation of the hand and any possible subsequent illness or impairment.
