An M2 Browning would be fun if there was a Zombie horde of 100 or so...

I read in another thread that the Purification tablets werent working and you could drink directly from the Pond, so I tried it out and yes there is no problem doing that. Every puddle, little stream, pond and lake are fair game. I will tell you one more thing that i learned to do and that was to get on my belly and crawl to the edge of the water to fill the canteen instead of wading in. You won't get wet at all. Even in a crouch you can get wet.

Tent and Drybag Testing - Good News For Persistence *Updated*
katana2665 replied to ob1korobi's topic in General Discussion
Yes, finding an actual Tent, that isn't on Youtube would be nice...but then I'd need a bigger pack to carry it. -
Thank you, guess my search words were wrong. Probably pretty hard to have an original idea at this point... :) As for the rest, yes, we need something like this. I mean i'm currently thirsty, out of anything drinkable and I'm taking shelter while a nice rainstorm is going on....Would like to be able to get some advantage out of the one thing that really gets us sick.

I'm thinking crafted with sticks, rope and a tarp....discuss. (And yes, I did a search to find something like this) :)

Yeah there's enough kids running around looking to axe us Bambi's just for the kick of it.
-
Also I don't see anything spawning in tree hides...I think I have only seen a hard hat. That could have been dropped by a player.

On a very low population server (sorry dont know which one) there is a dead survivalist with a Black hat in the last hanger to the east...over in the north airfield...he was awesome...fully loaded with eats, drinks, ammo types, a mosin, sawed off shotgun, cz75 and the new derringer. Maybe you will find him... I will tell you that in the final minutes there was another player who had drunk a soda and sprinted off avoiding the zed that i chose to kill (and failed) May my silent warrior rest in peace.......

I found my Mosin on the roof of an industrial building...eventually I found a PU scope, though I cant remember where. Early on I located two boxes of Mosin ammo. I never saw anymore after that. I was thrilled to get the hacksaw, then a little later the shotgun, and enough shells trickled in to keep things lively. I also had about four boxes of .45 ACP which just seemed to be everywhere, but never saw a 1911. Like the other poster said, when you're looking for it, it's never around. I have never seen a crashsite except on YouTube... :P

Finally having a good run with a survivalist character. The new patch couldn't have come at a better time. Well done to the whole dev team! ...now if I could only find some Mosin ammo...:)

Heck I run a 9800gtx and its fine. I doubt you could find one now, but the cards that are a couple of years old are cheap now.

Use to play the mod...just installed SA last night. Had my first little run awhile ago...After three deaths, i ran into a teleporting hacker with a rifle...his aim sucked. He used a lot of rounds to kill me. So far so good. Glad I waited for more to be added before diving back into it. Katana

The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)
katana2665 replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Homemade goKarts (at least the ones I grew up with) had small wheels and only were a couple of inches above the ground. Single seaters with 50-125cc motorcycle engines. The newer off road ones are really small buggies, but then I guess its jus semantics. -

With the gyrocopter gokarts or buggies that you have to put together make sense. Obviously gokarts wouldnt be able to go off road. -

Trains please...though who would run them? I'm thinking a neutral group attempting to rebuild society by linking communities. The tracks are already laid down and players could hop on flat cars and open box cars. That would allow them to move down the coast more quickly. And yes, i brought this up before a couple of years ago.. :) I'd be happy to model the vehicle if that would help. -
Finding Tents in DayZ - The Efficient Way
katana2665 replied to streakthefox's topic in New Player Discussion
That was an impressive shot. Thanks for the tip. What sort of problems will this cause though for people on the roof for an extended period of time? I'm thinking sniper tagets...though the sniper would have to be in an advantageous position. -
Sounds like the shooter had a silencer too. That was an interesting bait technique.

Nicely handled.

Got killed by 4 guys who said they were friendly, what a joke...

^This. When there aren't just three guns in the game, more Zombies and a bigger reason to live... -
So splintered thoughts involving the direction that DAYZ could go. So we know there are books. I would hope that would mean learning skills to rebuild civilization. Farming, building and industry. Building communities from small groups. Accomplishing 'goals' which would make the group stronger and ultimately trade between groups (either caravan and/or train). All of which would change the dynamic of the game and make it worth a clans time and effort.
-
I always thought working trains would be a good idea. Not for survivors to use but as the last working remenants of civilization. It would be nice to hop onto a train in order to get to somewhere without having to run. Or move a larger group in a boxcar as a prelude for an attack. Wouldn't be that hard to lay in other lines to go north. I for one hate the trek through the forest.

Excellent work.

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]

Heck, I didnt even know there was a space beyond the map...I thought that was the boundary. -
I don't know ab0out anyone else, but I have a hard time really seeing how red the temp, blood and other gauges are. No I'm not color blind (that would actually help). I suggest a brighter color bar to indicate level.
