Ok, off to fill the 'full physical' thread now, i'll deal with searching interesting topics some other day, if you feel like i missed something please let me know. Some topics descriptions might be a bit 'weak' as i didn't recall any discussion about them in great details, hopefully people can point me in the right direction, or it may turn out that a topic just hasn't been discussed as a standalone thread, in which case this will turn up during my searching efforts, I will start a thread on it if i can't find one. Feel free to do so yourself, but PLEASE ONLY IF YOU CAN"T FIND ONE!!!

@Kursteh, on most of your stuff slow down, i'm getting there eventually :P ... added tourniquets to bleeding, though it sounds mostly like a partial 'cure' for artery bleeds. While a needles and thread may not be applicable in your views that doesn't say anything about it being suggested though, and i personally think the reality of it stopping bleeding or not is besides the point, in essence it does help reduce bleeding as you close up the wound which then needs to form less 'crust' to close up, likely also reducing bleeding. Some of these sollutions may also be tweaked as i start looking for good threads that cover a single topic, and based upon discussion there i might add or change things a bit...

All the stuff related to the physical body, and the effects related to them. Some of this will be somewhat of a double to the FULL medical thread, but from the physical side, so while the medical thread deals with bandaging, the physical thread deals with the effects of bleeding on the screen and possibly other 'effects'. Other suggestions related to physical could be becomming tired, or strenght, the effect of adrenalin, etc and so on. So anything related to the physical body basically...

AHHHH ArmA 2 OA Down for Maintenance!!
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to stormster10's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm glad this thread is here showing that this isn't just a thing happening on my side, still a bit bummed though, me and friends had a meet planned :/ ... guess it'll have to wait or postponed to some other dayz... -
@DayZPvP, well this is to be both a suggestion compilation thread for DayZ for implementation, as well as a tread that should reduce the repetition of medical threads given people use search... Also by supplying links to various topics perhaps discussion can continue on each and every subject seperatly, and I will update the OP to reflect on additions changes in those threads. So if people come with good suggestions from the PR versions, then sure i will include them, but for now i will stick to getting the general stuff written down, including any of the additions people make in this thread ;)

Hunger and Thirst not realistic?!?!?!
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Thehairyosama's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I mean the OP and anyone in general that feels the food/water situation isn't 'real' ... like i was only in this situation for like 4/5 days i think i had some sugar aswell, and 2 bags of instant soup, and like two ounces of coffee. While i could have gone to the bank to withdraw money and go in the red, for some reason i felt it may also be a good experiment to see how i would do with such limited supplies (and i knew it wouldn't last for to long, as a paycheck was comming at the end of it). Why did i want to put myself in such a situation (?), well because there are literally millions of people that have 1 to 1,50 dollar a day to live on, and i just wanted to know in case i ever got in such a situation again, or in a survival situation for that matter. And while i could just do it at any time in my life, this just happened to have come my way and i decided to live through it ... and the experience realy opened my eyes, without it I may have even agreed with the OP (and others that bring this up frequently), but knowing first hand what very limited supplies do to your mental state and how it changes priorities in your live, i think the current situation with food/water is actually more real than you would think at first. And it also realy changed my views on poverty and the amount of respect less fortunate deserve, and ofcourse how lucky you have to considder yourself NOT having to deal with it on a day to day basis. I am not a religious person, and will likely never become one, but the 'not eating' (don't know the exact english word for it) for a period of time during the year is something i considder rather valuable for pretty much any one on earth, especially in a world that is becomming ever more 'convenient' and 'plentyfull', to an extend that some people frown upon poor and homeless people (without knowing the why behind it), and just walking a mile in their shoes would likely change the views of many people with half a brain ... though i do think that instead of the 'you can eat all you want after sundown, the experience should just be having very little to eat over a certain period of time. Having experienced it once in my live opened my eyes, and given a choice i would not like to repeat it, the experience itself though was realy valuable ... -
I had the 'rags' idea cross my mind as well, and i am hoping the 'cooking' system can be expanded to include 'boiling' to turn rags into bandages, needing: - empty tin can + source of water (can be canteen) => water filled tin can - water filled tin can + fire => boiling water - interact with fire to: 1. cook meat, 2. add rags to boiling water - interact with fire: take bandages While the fire obviously can't add a sterilized packaging around the boiled rags i think that's just a gaming aspect that shouldn't trouble to many people...

Hunger and Thirst not realistic?!?!?!
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Thehairyosama's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
To add to ZedsDeadbaby's correct response in regards to 'gameplay', there is also the difference between 'realism' and 'authenticity'. Realism is exactly as it is for real, a 1on1 translation from the real world into the game. Authentic is 'like it is for real', the line between both is thin, but a miniature collectable car can only be 'authentic' it's mirrored after reality for as far as it can be, but the miniature car will never be 'real' in that it has working parts, starts and that you can sit in it (unless you can shrink yourself to 1/2 an inch size) ... As you may have noticed Rocket tries to always use 'authentic' instead of realism for exactly this reason. I personally prefer 'believable' in regards to games, because believable can include a whole lot more as long as it falls within the context of the gameworld, and believable is also a simpler word that is likely to be understood by most non-native english speakers. There is a last thing i would like to mention that likely has had a great impact on why thirst and hunger are so fast to appear, besides the gameplay aspect that it makes you visit higher risk places more often (because once you have some gear you can totally live out near a lake & clearing for water and meat). The frequent occurance is actually to put 'realism' in the game, but this realism is not in regards to the need for food/water, but the 'WANT' for food and water. If you ever watched any survival show on TV or take a more 'realistic approach to live', there are pretty much only 3 (possibly 4) things you need to survive, food/water/shelter(/fire). And in a survival situation (or generally IRL) these will be the things that will occupy your day to day activities. Most people nowadays grew up in a situation where they have running tapwater, live in a house with central heating and where food is only a visit to the shop away, meaning that the drive for these basic needs hardly occupies our minds anymore. But once these conveniences fall away, the drive for food and water WILL occupy your mind almost 24/7, to mimic this situation in the game the timer is set on a very short cycle, giving that psychological drive of needing food/water ... To the above i would like to add, please try and not eat for a day or two, you can drink all you want, but try and not eat. And you will find that while you can survive for 3 weeks without food (approx), going a day without eating is NOT easy. Sure you won't die, but from my own experience of worse economic situations i can tell you that if you only have half a loaf of bread and a can of peanut butter that needs to last you 4 days, there is NOTHING pleasant about not having enough to eat, the things that drive you as a person also completely change ... So while the food situation may not be entirely 'real', the frequency of food/water needs does mimic a psychological state & ingame situation that is VERY real were this to be an IRL situation... -
Concerning disabling in-game music to allow for better hearing
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Bogeyman's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I actually put the music on 3 clicks or so, soft enough to not hear it when i should be hearing other things, but hard enough to add some 'mood' at quiet moments ... as well as adding some atmosphere (aka scare me) with added noices... -
dayzmod.com - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Max Planck's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
No problem :) ... do you have any idea in regards to when this thread is 'done', maybe a week of no questions added or something? Anyways, the list looks cool, some questions are a bit more like suggestions with a ? behind them, but i guess thats not to much of a problem. Looking forward to the answers, and ehrm, i'll try and come up with a few more questions :) -

czech backpack should be BETTER than alice!
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to aoshi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Are you sure you don't mix up the Czech Backpack with the Czech Vestpouch? I'm no expert on bags in the game, but from another thread i read i think these are both in the game... The vestpouch is 6 slot, while the backpack is much bigger (not sure how big though) ... <- again no expert but i read this on the forum so it may be why you make this suggestion ;) -
A simple search for 'weight' would have led you straight to a thread that would have suggested the samething, but worked out to a larger extend including 'strength' & 'Type of Bags' ... so please use search, a quick way to find this thread would be to check the link in my sig, as the weight thread is mine...

- I agree on the Temperature, but it's known to be bugged (rocket even said so in some interview) - I don't agree on the food lasting long, i know it does in real life, but change the need for food and you change a very elemental part of the game, needing to get food in your playtime, how ever short... In regards to food, i would love Rocket to use a Callory system, where different foods give a different amount of callories (and even soda would give some callories), this would give every 'food & drink' item a dual-stat, one that satisfies thirst (liquid) and one that satisfies the callory need. This callory system could then be integrated into the 'activities' you undertake, and the weather, etc... making for a more subtle system alltogether. A can of beans f/e comes with liquids as well, while raw meat hardly does, water doesn't have callories, while coke does. etc... - Blood needs some work too, i would personally prefer a 2hp/min regen, which is abouts the natural regen of the human body. Food should then give less direct HP, while at the same time, more items would give a lil HP. Bloodbags should give the amount of HP back that is contained in a bag (1 liter of blood, being 2 pints, being 2000HP) - Instead or rest and sleeping, which i must say you did a decent effort to make it somewhat suitable for the game, still needs some work. I would personally already be very pleased with a Fatigue system, which wouldn't let you run for miles on end. It could work somewhat like the 'rest' system you put up, but it would work only as a short term resource instead of a longterm.
-
1. Ever thought about the potential maybe the game doesn't use the metric system, and it having 12 'pints' of blood, with a pint apparently being about half a liter, and thus giving quite an accurate amount of HP 2. The temp i agree on, and a simple search on the net pretty much shows it's not meant to be Fahrenheit or Kelvin temperature ... 3. The bleed and damage done is (in my views) a way to impose fear upon the player (though the worst was/is by far the breaking of bones), the added risk of not having a bandage and thus having to go find one which get you into a position of not finding one and still running into zombies, to then bleed to death. Is a fundamental aspect of this whole game (all of the mechanics deal with this struggle between needing something and that need putting you into risk) 4. The whole broken bone issue needs splits tbqh. and morphine should be a strong long lasting pain killer, where normal ones run out ... having a broken bone f/e splinted up could restore 'walking & running' but both would also give pain (esp. running!), pain screws up your screen already, so having morphine could deal with the pain on long term (f/e the whole time needed to restore a broken leg to normal) why painkiller only work 'so long' ... 5. The bloodbag administering is currently the only item in the game that truely needs cooperation between players, make it selfadministered and there be absolutely no reason to team up. Once there are more reasons to cooperate then perhaps it could make sense to make it selfadministered, still though, for game-mechanic purposes it may well be better to leave it as is... 6. I would personally love a more extensive 'wounds' system, with different ways to fix them, still though any bandage can somewhat be a presure bandages, and all it would cause is a major scar in the end...

Pre-Apocalyptic Life / Role / Profession
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Aphex (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'dd like to see a quote of this if you can, because all i seen sofar is that Rocket said there will be no +1 skill system, as in you kill X infected getting XP which levels you up gaining skill points which you can then spend on any skill. Basically the RPG +1 system... Sofar i have not seen him say there will be no classes or pre-set professions in the game. And the +1 skill points quote is fairly vague, if that quote excludes a 'learning by doing' system (check my sig. for a suggestion with some more details) then starting people out with some preknowledge in certain areas is a possibility (i am personally heavily conflicted with myself on whether that be a good thing to add, it's possible in a learning by doing character progression system, but i don't realy like it as it's hard to balance in regards to giving certain pre-sets to much of a headstart in key areas of the game). Also i have not seen rocket mention that 'perks' would be excluded from the game. and this system strikes me a lot as a perk system... aka. get to some pre-determained goal and unlock a perk ...So quote or it's just wishfull thinking! -
It's because not everybody uses great topic titles, or these ideas get added to certain threads that deal with inventory or difficulty. I am 100% sure that this exact suggestion was part of my 'start us off with nothing please' thread ... ;) ... so instead of looking for 'backpack' looking for 'start' may yield more results.

dayzmod.com - Aug 2012 - Q&A with Rocket
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to Max Planck's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
@Max, could you please remove your line of text: "I'll start out with a few", as this is pretty outdated by now and a tad confusing, in a sense that people might get the illusion the list is not updated or just yours ... second, could you please move the comment Rocket gave in relation to this thread into a [ quote] [ /quote] and put it pretty much where "ill start out with a few" is now; that way people see that there is atleast some likelyhood that their question may be answered, which may promt more people to ask good questions. Tnx for your understanding and your efforts to keep this thread up-to-date :) ... i sure hope Rocket takes some time out of his day to answer them -
The first bit of feedback that comes to mind: USE SEARCH ! reported for merger with the first thread i could find about bandits/player killing or similar
-
How could this have not simply been a post in any of the many 'the answer to bandits' threads ? please use [search] ! reported for merger with the first thread about bandits i find!
-
use report and supply the link of a the previous suggestion to the mods, that way they can easily merge the two and we are left with a lot less double-clutter in this part of the forum... i obviously already reported this one ;)
-
I fully agree here, typing molotov gave me a whole list of the same suggestions, i reported this thread for merger with the last one on that list...@RaZzi, if it isn't to much trouble, find a thread with the same topic, copy the link, then hit [report] on the OP and do a simple: double to: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36720-molotovs/page__hl__molotov and send it in, that way the Mods can easily merge the two threads ;) ... obviously i already reported this one for merger!

Hahaha, if it wasn't the somaniest time this 'joke' came by it might have actually been funny, please use search!

Zombies(infected) reacting to sound 1
L0G!N (DayZ) replied to chssmius's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
check my sig, thread is just a one post sunk to the depths of the suggestion forum-thread ;)Also, while i like you kept suggestions limited per thread, these two both concern sound, so picking a correct title (sounds & zombie reactions) would have made these into one thread adressing the same. Usually it's best to keep it to one suggestion though, UNLESS, the suggestions concern a same general topic. The annoyance only comes from threads that post a list of all different suggestions which then turns the discussion into a mess. -
The following says it all: USE SEARCH!
