Treat everyone as they would treat you, shoot everyone that you meet. I just met a seemingly nice fellow, help clear out the street below. He was well equipped with silenced automatics and a dashing rifle to go along with it. I figured that he'd have no interest in killing me, so I attempted to partner up with him in hoping that we could begin a fresh journey. This player didn't seem particurally experienced after all. He climbed ladders without a bit of caution and sprinted where ever he deemed fit without even a glance. Surely, I could have killed him at least seven times in our short time together. We get to the floor and run into the hospital across the street. I help him with some supplies, tell him that I'll be off now, and then he proceeds to shoot me in the back: a coward's move. So, for the folks that complain about bandits and constant "deathmatch" style gameplay, you should know damn well that you can't trust anyone with a gun, period.

I've learned a valuable lesson

Also note that I was only carrying low-grade items since as a winchester, a makarov pm, two cans of food, and some soda with quite a few bandages. He had no idea that I was carrying these items. -

Nope, he was just interested in killing me. It's likely that he spawned his items since he had some pretty rare stuff. -

I want desperately to find someone to coop with, but this never happens. -
Basically, I'm wanting a better framerate for my outdated rig. I wanted to completely reduce shading and other performance hogging details, but I can't seem to find the file to change these things. Is there a way to actually lower the graphics than the lowest setting ingame?

Needing graphical performance enhancement

It runs fine, but things get incredibly choppy whenever I look at trees. -
Worst thing that has happened to me was jumping over a fence and then immediately falling through the map. But this takes the cake.

A suggestion to fix the PvP system.
Plasmafrog replied to Beefburger's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Do you know what would fix this?: Improved AI for zombies and more spawns. Zombies aren't a threat and that's the issue. They're only a problem if you're defenseless or are trying to hide from another player. -
What is the Minecraft model?
Plasmafrog replied to spuddy0108's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm alright with buying a mod as long as(In order of importance): - Zombie AI and spawning is drastically improved: I want to be able to actually survive from zombies, not players. Zombies in this game are only threatening until you find a gun, then it becomes deathmatch mode. - More unique areas customized into the map like survivor camps and new builds to better suit the AI - A better loot system with searchable objects - The ability to forage for food In a brief summary, I want a zombie survival game, not a player survival game. -
I've placed about eight hours into this game already and have only seen a single chicken in the most unlikely spot: in front of a warehouse in the middle of a city. The wiki claims that animals spawn in fields and near farms, yet I haven't even seen a single animal. Canned food is a terrible resource for blood and transfusions never happen because everyone would rather shoot you, so the most logical thing for me would be to go hunting! Oh boy, how wrong was I. I searched forest, fields, even farms and not one damn animal. Surviving is hard because your blood is nearly impossible to maintain without a fellow mate. If you have a group, surviving is easy. Solo? Not so much. Can someone else confirm that our barnyard friends are nearly figments of our imagination?

Exactly how rare are animals?

Lies! I've scoured every single plot of land to the west and have found nothing but zombies and lootless towns. -

Is it possible to run two accounts from the same Arma II copy?
Plasmafrog posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Simple and easy question. I want to know if I can run two unique accounts from the same Arma II copy and even play on the same server together. Is there a way to create another unique Bikey, or is this against the rules? -

Server clients are glitch-filled. I've had my entire backpack disappear multiple times, spawned into the wilderness and even under the map. -

So I'm guessing that this is a bannable offense? Did. Since it shares the same character ID, it kicks the other user automatically if he's on a server. -

DayZ becomes Standalone title in september?

"Like Minecraft" Does this mean patches in between every five months and constant stability issues? -
Glitch. This has already happened to me too. Edit: I should elaborate more. I was barred up in a house with a remmington waiting for a couple of zombies to pass by. I got off of prone, began to walk and then suddenly collapsed from exhaustion. I was then taken to the game over screen and forced to quit. I swear, this game is like a horrible, horrible curse. You want to play it, but every time you attempt to, you're kicked in the shin for it.

What is it you want from Dayz?
Plasmafrog replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For the game to actually work. -
Yes, I'm perfectly aware that this game is in Alpha state; however, this game suffers and diminishes entirely in value from the design flaws and bugs that encumber its most true potentiel. Although this may double as a bug report, here are some of the "flaws" that I've personally experienced from playing DayZ... #1 - AI and the spawning system: This current spawn system is a joke, a cruel one at that. The way that zombies can spawn right on top of you is atrocious and game-breaking for new players. 4/5 times when starting a new character today, I encountered zombies that had spawned right behind me when I wasn't looking. I was chased down, cornered in a room, went into prone, then I finally noticed that they were backing off... At least I thought! No, they began phasing through the walls and hitting me in the back. This is another game-breaking issue: zombies can hit and see you through walls/buildings. If that isn't bad enough, I've had zombies hit me through floors that were four stories high and suddenly jump to the top of roofs without warning. This kind of action varies from the type of building, but it's all too common to be considered a light issue. Zombies cannot walk on docks and often loss interest randomly at times when their pathfinding breaks. This is crucial and needs to be worked on ASAP. #2 - Core game mechanics: This primarily has to deal with weapons, loot, and player interactions. Rarely is teamwork required because weapons can be found in bunches with bountiful amounts of ammunition. Players are more interested in killing each other since they can maintain themselves as a one-man-army easily. Loot is all too common. I've found four rifles in a building with a ton of vehicle parts and food supplies to last a while. Then I proceeded to walk over the next building and find nearly the same thing. This isn't all too common, but it does take away from any sense of danger or needed teamwork for survival. Yes, players do team up occasionally, but it's mainly to kill others. In a game about surviving a zombie apocalypse, the primary focus should be about surviving from zombies, not having a deathmatch every time someone comes into view. To fix this, issue #1 needs to be worked on as well with... - A better loot system(Less chances of discovering weapons/ammunition) - More buildings to scavage On another popular note: New players need at least a hatchet to start with. Not being able to defend yourself and creep around a slew of freshly-spawned zombies is pointless. From my short time that came from playing DayZ, I've both enjoyed and have grown concern about the various flavors that have been left behind. Some taste excellent while others are bitter and unpromising. This is a bit of a wishlist, but I'm at least hoping that the devs will take a glance at these issues and really mold something awesome from the current mess that this game has presented. Thanks for reading, hope you're considering

Yes, but at least it's more well-known now.

Bad version, server rejected connection
Plasmafrog replied to liquidcactus's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The same thing is happening to me. I downloaded both Arma II and Arma: Operation Arrowhead via Steam, then proceeded to install the beta patch after launching both games. Initially, I used the Six Updater to install the mod and play the game. Of course, I still used the added parameters to make sure that the mod was loaded. Using the server browser, I'm able to connect with a server, yet I get stuck at the loading screen, forcing me to alt-f4 out. I've literally let it sit for an hour, it would not load. So then I tried the manual install without using the Six Updater. After reinstalling everything entirely, I manually downloaded the mod, placed it in the correct folder, launched with the parameters and am now receiving the Bad Version Error. I've made entirely sure that nothing was missed by comparing folders and options, yet no avail. For technical reasons, here are my computer specifications: Operating System: Windows XP: SP3 Intel Core Duo Dual Core @2.33GHz Xfire MCP73 Motherboard w/ onboard sound and graphics capabilties(disabled) 3,326Gigs of Ram ATI Raedon 5450HD w/ 1,024Gigs of mem/ Direct X9 450w Blacksteel PSU 500gig Baracuda Seta Harddrive Current Resoultion: 1024x768 Other than this, I'm pretty much entirely out of options here. Other Notes: - I can't select or disable mods under expansions after launching the game - I get stuck on loading via the Six Launcher, yet can't even join a server using Steam - I had played the game before 1.7.2, but it was on a different computer
