I think they should implement some sort of "ghost walk" thing where you can't spawn within so far of a distance of other survivors and you have to move away to spawn. Could still cause issues, but it's better than people spawning in sniper nests.

Build Crossbow Bolts with Firewood
Q your face X replied to sturmfalkerda's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like it, but how about bolts you create have a one time use (they're breakable or something) and the ones you find are reusable? -
Being revived? good idea or bad?
Q your face X replied to DeltaDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was knocked unconscious while being attacked by a horde of zombies in a town and had my legs broken and couldn't do anything while the person I was with had to kill them off and bring me back with an epi-pen, morphine, and blood transfusion. Is there really anything else you need in the game? -
Banners and other small ideas

Just so it's clear, I want banners as something you can make out of supplies you gather. Not a random bound key to place markers like a spray paint in other games. -

The issue is that everyone claims about the "realism" and all that, but the fact remains that you still respawn in this game. Losing all your equipment does not even compare to a real life or death situation. In a post-apocalyptic world it is more likely that people would work together, with only a few social outcasts possibly trying to go on a murder spree, but even then they would likely have a much more difficult time getting the military gear that they can get easily in this game. In real life people have families and friends, and would share a common survival goal with others who have the same things at stake. The only thing at stake in DayZ are your beans and gun, and there is no ultimate goal. I'm not saying anything one way or the other about what changes should be made to the game, but PLEASE stop saying this game is like real life and that nobody would trust each other and start shooting each other on sight in the real world. -

Well, yeah, that's exactly what I wanted! haha I was looting the factory and noticed how awesome it would be to try and hold it out while groups of 10-20 people try to storm in. Too often PvP moments are big groups hunting down one or two guys. I think fortified areas (which I think would start with banners) would lead to bigger fights between groups of people. -
I'd agree, but the game is supposed to take place in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone is running around with these weapons and getting killed with them. So it's completely likely someone could die in a barn carrying a weapon they found at a military base.

I get that the game is still very young and in its early stages, so my suggestions clearly aren't something to be implemented any time soon, but rather ideas I think that should be worked towards in the future. #1. Banners/Flags - I think something small like this would add so much more to the game. Players could set up at locations and set up banners to make it easier for their friends to meet up with them, and also add as a warning to other players to stay away. #2. Clothes scavenging - Likely something that I would expect to see in this game eventually (and it's basically there now), but there need to be more clothes and armor types. This way, groups can customize their look so it's easier for them to spot each other and recognize immediately if someone isn't a part of their own group. #3. Locked Doors/Lockpicking Tools - I would love to see the ability to lock doors and lockpick in this game. Would give more incentive to travel back to certain towns just to see what is hidden in a house you couldn't explore previously. As well, it could possibly help with spawning issues, as you could lock yourself into a building before logging out, so the likelihood of someone being there when you return to that server would be lower than before. Could also be used to lock vehicle doors so someone intending to steal it would have to find a tool to unlock it first. Anyway, just some small ideas I thought would be great. I think giving players more customization would ultimately lead to more groups and it would go from a game that is just player vs. player and lead up to more clan vs. clan scenarios.

Bandit punishment / Survivor rewards
Q your face X replied to Red_Sky's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There should be no reason to punish bandits, but I'd like to see more incentives for being a survivor and working with other players. I'm in no way against PvP and enjoy that aspect of the game, but it seems pointless not to shoot someone you don't know on sight. People are quick to say, "In real life it would be survival of the fittest derp." Well, sure, but in real life you wouldn't have the chance to restart if you get shot and killed. There's no reason not to player kill because even if you get killed yourself, you start over, get new gear and hunt down whoever killed you. Player killers in DayZ right now have nothing to fear. Perhaps there could be something implemented into the game where groups traveling together have their water and food meters deplete slower, whereas those traveling alone deplete faster. That way bandits now would have a reason to kill (get food that they would otherwise go through quicker) and those working together have a reason because then they don't need to find 8 cans of beans just to get through an hour.
