    Simple Solution to Banditry

assuming rocket deciides skins are the best option Well how about the opposite than and make people who go x amount of time or what ever without killing someone get their own skin, dress them in robes and flowers in their hair or something. people who don't like bandits having to stand out get what they want, bandits can look like everybody who just spawned on the beach and people would at least be able to identify people not trying to kill others purposefully. Bandits might try to abuse this if they feel like waiting 10 hours or what ever the time is before getting a skin that will only makes it less likely that someone will not shoot you on site. It can even stick with you through death or wat ever so long as you didn't kill another player. Go ahead and add custom skins for people who hunt bandits too, make them look like Sherri's or something since it makes sense that people trying to be good guys would make it adequately known to others. In RL people where uniforms for a reason, just because zombies are running around doesn't mean we say screw it and all dress the same, people would organize and create makeshift as a simple step towards moving forward our civilization. And than if someone wants to do a heist or something or trick a group of players they can do what they have to dress like a sherriff and trick the folks, so the question of can you trust people is no less prevalent, you'll just know that someone with a skin is less likely to want to kill you since it seems like a lot of work to get a custom skin just to trick one person only to loose that skin. The cost/gain from doing that wouldn't be there for most people wanting to be bandits. This idea could be expanded to alot of the game, and just let people opt out if they want the default skins since your more rewarding players the ability to show that they have spent a great deal of time focusing on one aspect of the game world rather than punishing them. U could refine this or expand once we have more systems in game but quick ideas for skins for focusing on different play styles Sherrif, ratio of play time to pk kills let's you get this skin that way u have to be consistent about it or w/e Field medic outfit, use x amount of medical supplies on players with similar ratio as above with people helped over certain time. Some sort of mad max style zombie hunter skin I guess (idk lol) that shows uve saved x amount of people from zombie attacks. Point is poets badnits don't want to be punished for killing others, fine give skins for doing Other stuff. U see someone without a skin, maybe they are new or started a new character or lost their skin because they where not being consistent with it or w/e the parameters are. Point is most people would not have these skins and thus that make banditry still fair game, and offers a good u incentive to try other ways of play if u really like a new skin or something. Tl;dr I wrote this on my iPhone :P and reward players for doing other things than being bandits with skins and let bandits keep their boring as fuck default skin if they don't want to be easily identified.
  3. First time I found a gun it was a shot gun in a barn. I'm in prone as I get up to it not wanting to alert any zombies, i get the wepon and turn around to leave the barn only to notice someone standing a bit outside the door pointing a cross bow at me. I call out to them, and say "hey", they shoot my and my character faints, but i think because I was prone already they didn't know if they hit me or not. So they run away afraid I might start shooting. Since I'm fainted they must assume I'm dead and walk up to me a second later, just as my faint timer runs out. I'm like spamming the button to stand up as fast I can trying to get to my feet the second I can and as soon as I'm no longer fainted I'm getting up and firing off my shot gun as much as I can, missed every shot because I was shaking and my character was moving still getting up as well as it was my first time trying to aim a gun in this game, lol. The dude freaked out and booked it out of there. After I was on my feet I ran in the opposite direction.

I think I have an infection

Indeed, I think the funnest i've had in this game is when I've been going a while, have decent gear only to relize I havn't eaten in a long long time or when I need some bandages, forces me to actually use all the gear I've gotten to take my chances quickly raiding a town before its too late.

    [VIDEO] Never Through Flares Indoors....

    Ouchy, what happened? lol
  6. I've enjoyed spawning with no weapon, it really makes increases the intensity on those first few trips into towns since your survival is all on your ability to sneak. I started playing after they took out guns at spawn and I've got to say, I was not at all frustrated or annoyed. A smile came on my face as I realized I'm playing something that is way more than a FPS with zombies, and than I proceeded to die a lot. But I got the hang of things pretty fast. And with no weapon I had to learn to avoid zombies and players, which after getting a weapon that experience helps me conserve amo and avoid combat all together.

Kicking of Players for Clan members

I'm on the fence, because on the one hand I don't enjoy getting kicked out of servers, which I have been from time to time and has resulted in some unfortunate demises but on the other I'm not willing to pay my self for a server for others to use, so it makes sense that those who do get a bit extra rights to access that server when they want to. I think that reserving spots is necessary for at least for admins since its is better to have servers monitored by someone in game since they can directly experience any major problems (so long as they dont abuse that power). I do not know if donors deserve reserved space though, some thing else like a custom skin or tag on their name or something like that is probably better just because thats more in the spirit of what donating is for, rather than turning into selling slots on servers. People who are hosting servers are more like very big donors to the game in the end though, they are giving their own resources in order to support the vision on the developers. But I guess its inevitable that not every body shares the developers vision. From what Rocket is saying, it seems that they are taking the approach if you don't want to follow their vision their is really no reason to host a server for them. But I doubt they want people who are giving their resources to feel exploited, so I'm sure they'll figure something out. In the mean time I'll just have to avoid servers with a tendency to kick!

    Using An Axe Only?

I've found the axe hard to use at first, but after a bit of being forced to use it since I had no luck finding guns I became pretty good at it. If you can remain calm and make sure to aim high while a zombie a freaking out on you you have a good chance of getting an easy head shot. Also, I've found that running backwards and spamming the axe like a mad man is an equally effective way to kill zombies! (Just make sure your not in a city or around other zombies. If I resort to such ancient martial arts I typically already booked it out of that city and just have one straggler left on my tail.) The only thing with the axe is that for me i have to stand up if I want to get a decent shot, i'll hopefully get better, but this is has created cases where its me vs 3 zombies in cities sometimes. But the Axe is effective still.

    Progress Saved??? and server options.

your gear is saved and you should have the same things on all the servers, as well as be in the same spot that you logged out from. Sometimes there are glitches or sometimes things are not saved purposefully since the game is in aplpha testing, but ive never survived long enough between play session to have this affect me. Note that tents and vehicles are not saved between servers. So if you have a car, it will only be parked where you left it on the server you left it on. So once you start getting really settled into a server make sure you make note of which one it is so you don't loose your vehicles and stuff (Assuming that no one takes them while your away)

Worst day in History to Start?

I started a few days ago and your description adequetly describes the game when you first start, its pretty great :) When your new you die a lot its the intention I'm fairly sure, but I read a lot of tutorials, experimented in game. But there are a lot of bugs but after a while you get the hang of it, start understanding how to get away from zombies and where to scavange for supplies.Like someone mentioned above, when you start your character it will say the town you are near or wilderness (Ive been told if you get wilderness just respawn, but i typically just roll with it) and than go this map http://dayzmap.info/ figure out where you are based on your surroundings and that should help getting around a little eiser. though i've just kind of been wandering (probably not the best move) and looking for houses to loot. Once you get the hang of the game you can get into some exciting situations. (Also, dont forget you can through empty cans to distract zombies)

    Make it harder, less loot

Or even without a supported game mechanic you could still attempt to conqoure a town and create a place for new people to be safe, and for experianced players to trade weapons and stuff if your group had a desire to do so, which i guess why not try if folks feel like doing that. And than the people who think thats a stupid idea or want to raid the settlements can go and raid the city, and there ya go end game content galore! :P

    Make it harder, less loot

I'm not sure how it is at end game since I've not come anywhere near there, but I'd imagine that at the moment the balance for end game is going to come from people with end game gear fighting each other a lot. That would decrease the amount of people running around with end game gear and make it a lot harder to hoard end game gear if you are having to use it to fight of people with equal gear to your own. But I guess there needs to be a catalyst for people with end game gear to be fighting eachother, since at the moment you can get kills on people still working their way up easy enough by stalking towns where new players go to get their starter gear and stuff. So perhaps once they either add a supported game mechanic where in end game that would work as a catlyst for end game PvP/PvE for instance, a lot of people talk about perhpas adding a mechanic to hold onto cities. If they added some benefits like ways to manufacture food or perhaps holding on to a city with a gas station and mechanic shop inside of or for pve just having area that require extreme tatics and team work against zombies, than perhaps the abundance of end game weapons would be more necessary. But I'm not completely sure yet, just me looking at what folks are talking about still.

    Bear Soldier as Companion

I can see this with perhaps dogs, but bears seems a little far fetched. Adding horses and other animals which have been domesticated and thus have a reasonable chance to be tamed by a normal person though would be a cool idea. Not the having a bear isn't cool, lol, just something about seeing someone walk down a road with a bear seems fit better in a medevil fantasy game than a zombie game.
  14. I'd be in favor of adding a few non essential survival requirements like new clothing. I do not know if they have the current systems (blood, food, water, temperature) to the point where they would start adding on aditional modifiers to those yet though. But definetly could see in the future them adding in more ways that you are effected by nature and thus more clothing options. Rocket seems pretty serious about making scavenging pretty much the catalyst for avoiding zombies and our interactions with others, so adding in more things to scavenge for seems to be a reasonable direction the game will go towards.
  15. I'm pretty new, and havn't started playing with a group yet (which I think is what some of the most popular places require if you want to effectively loot an area safely) but if you want to solo places that their is a higher chance geared out people Re in the area you can always find one of the lesser populated servers (Though, from what I can tell server hopping seems to be frowned upon by a lot of people, which maybe someone could explain to me what constitutes server hoping? Is it more leaving a server looking for loot to be in the same area?) and just be careful. Also, night time is a good time to avoid getting shot sometimes.
