Vehicle Towing and Extraction

Right, do you think it could be balanced somehow then? -
Vehicle Towing and Extraction
Wentworth Miller replied to Wentworth Miller's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
One good truck? What percentage of players have access to one good truck? Not only that but ensuring the vehicle has wheels to be towed, having to stop more times for fuel and having to find the other vehicles in the first place doesn't seem too easy to me or have I missed something? However, I do agree that it means almost any vehicle can be towed away whether or not they repair it. But, as with everything, they still run the risk of having the vehicles nicked from their secret lair and seeing as most cars can be driven without engine repairs (and just have the wheels) I think that the increase in hoarding would be marginal really. -
"Increased rare spawn chance" incentive to not be a bandit

It isn't necessarily just for PvP and having nightvision so you can find your way around zombies in the pitch black without using flares, torches or chem-lights is a godsend. Not only that but trying to get somewhere during the night is extremely difficult so once again, nightvision is a godsend. In complete agreement with SGTFledge and z-layrex here. -
I am aware of another thread regarding boat towing but this is a little more specific than that and unrelated to boats. Vehicle towing would be a fantastic addition, particularly if you are in convoy and another car has a crash or runs out of fuel. Could also consider the possibility of towing cars that are not completely repaired away from a particular location provided it has at least three wheels unless of course anyone sees a benefit in dragging a wheel-less car around. Naturally some constraints other than requiring wheels would be necessary so perhaps the following: 1. Towing a vehicle would incur larger fuel costs to the tow-er; 2. The tow-er can only tow vehicles of an equal or lesser weight to the towing vehicle. 3. Certain items may be needed such as a tow-bar or maybe rope and chains. The other idea is vehicle extraction by chopper. Being able to pick up smaller vehicles and airlift them out. Again it would have the same constraints as the above most likely. I would be interested to hear other players thoughts on this :)

Piece of advice to new players not wanting to get shot
Wentworth Miller replied to Tordenskiold's topic in New Player Discussion
:o You know the dance too!??!?!?! :D Thank you for posting this, you just made my day! Now, more to the point, when you have no voice chat capability, do not understand the language being used by the other player but would like to indicate your "friendliness" (that was an awful word...) then the safety dance is the key!!! -
Grouping / team features?
Wentworth Miller replied to acebro_hunter@msn.com's topic in New Player Discussion
No to all three of your questions. The only coordination you have in DayZ is a compass and a map. Then it is simply a case of finding your friends in-game. Few new players seem to notice this but in the bottom right corner when you spawn in there is some text that is displayed, that will tell you your initial location. -
You need to find cans of food, open your gear (G) and then right click on the food can and click "Eat" that is it. You could do with looking at the wiki since this is a basic question and no doubt the forum is littered with similar questions: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Share some tips for those of us who are new to Arma and DayZ
Wentworth Miller replied to GoodNewsEveryone's topic in New Player Discussion
For anyone who has played a zombie/survival related game (L4D, Dead Frontier, Stalker, etc) or seen a film (I Am Legend, The Book of Eli, The Road, 28 Days Later, etc) just take everything you possibly can from that and you might just survive the night. My suggestions aren't game-mechanic related; it is about getting the most enjoyable experience: 1. Do not have a game map opened outside of the game (in your browser or printed) - it takes away that uncertainty of where you are, what/who is around you and you have to actually search for loot instead of simply following a map like a game walk-through. 2. Avoid servers where text-chat is available - C'mon, you are playing a survival horror game, since when can you communicate with someone across the otherside of a massive world without some form of radio? Besides, voice chat may be available within a local area, use that for communication to get the best experience. 3. Use common sense - If you require more of an explanation for this then we have bigger issues to discuss. -
Hello Vendicta, yes your inventory is carried over provided the server is not part of a private hive. If you created your character on a private hive then it is exclusive to that particular hive so server hopping won't carry over your stuff.

But doesn't that detract from the "survival" nature of the game? The fact you felt hesitant is the key because you are suddenly aware of risk. It is a vital element to DayZ I would say. Thinking logically (if you can speak of logic and fictional creatures in the same sentence), at most you see zombies kicked in frantic panic in films and other media, rarely ever involved in a fisty-cuffs fight. In my personal opinion, I think punching would take more away from DayZ, but at the same time I can see some potential I guess because you run the risk of being ripped apart anyway, so as a "last-stand" scenario, punching could be an option. The other situation to consider is when you notice another player who is armed, I like the challenge of having to avoid them or risk trying to meet them when I know I cannot defend myself.
