I can, and that debate is not new. I really don't think sales really matter given how huge the fanbase is now, if rocket only wants money to release a standalone that is. My opinion has always been that before tunning down something, making it easy and 'tasteless', it's necessary to make sure people understandd why "hard" is so good and rewarding. Then they can choose to have it casual. Plus, I tend to be in favor of diversity because there is strengh and balance in it, you can't tell me there's diversity in nowadays video game panorama regarding difficulty. I'm not crying because a game doesn't punish enough (random example: cod), so why are they crying to tune down DayZ ? That crowd is big, I don't intend to tell them how to play, but I want them to aknowledge that spending 4 hours trying to find my pals, each of us running into different situations along the way, is rewarding. It's basic stuff, spending 4 hours of your life doing it makes it rewarding, thrilling. (it's not about fun really) The goal does not matter.

I did not comment on your level of skill, but on the first part of your message. I fail to see the problem, I did exactly what I told ? Anyway, people don't laugh at you because they think you suck at navigating. People laugh at you because it's obvious you don't realise (yet) where and why DayZ is such an amazing game. And you don't realise too that what you want is the exact oposite of why this game is so unique (and rare, and fragile). You also have to acknoledge that rocket would rather end it all than change DayZ to a more common mainstream coop gameplay. You can't enjoy DayZ the way it is / will be ? I bet someone will note this and acheive a "version" of the game you will enjoy soon enough (WarZ, whatever is to come next).

That's really not the way I see it, it's a carefully tailored online survival experience where you are suposed to meet strangers and decide if you kill/befriend/ignore them. It's a game of choices, not a coop survival/deathmatch/lootstacking fps. If it was the gameplay would be different in all sort of ways (spawn, loots, etc). I'll ignore the part where you say that you are good at the game, I fail to see how it matters. EDIT: Seeing other post from quoted dude: no, really, fun has nothing to do with DayZ. It's not at all about fun. And yes, Rocket is a "second coming" because everywhere else it's all about fun and easy access and no punishment for failure. So when someone grows a pair and actively build something refreshing and not centered about fun, we tend to get picky and not back down an inch. Videogame is not only about "fun" as well as music is not only about "love", overusing the same theme damages it.

Looking for more challenge ? do it without a map ? do it at night ? not during a fullmoon period ? Back to the subject: agree to disagree, and it makes sense (running around, not doing anything else than figuring out where you are/to go) given the genre and core mechanics of the game. But really, to chose cherno/elektro as a gathering point with your friends when spawning, that's asking for it.

I don't think so, finding your way around the map, taking marks and getting to know the land is the first and easiest challenge of the game. If you can't stand orientation and hiking, you will most probably not like the game, with your friends or not. EDIT: Didn't finish my train of thoughs, that might seems confusing: the first challenge of the game when you don't play alone is to meet up with your buddies. If the only way you can have fun in dayZ is to chill out with your friend with a stack of loot waiting for you in your camp should you die, you are missing the point of the game. (this is purposedly exagerated, you get the meaning)

Kamenka is one of the best spot to spawn along the coast. No wonder there's so many whinning about Tcherno and Elektro "Butcher Bay" if people don't even take the time to study the map. Anyway, great news Rocket, keep up the steady pace !

Just happenned to me (FR 35), relog'd on another server (FR 75) : my toon spawns 5 meters from the ground, falls, dies, then instantly "kick : corrupted memory" (each time everyone in the server was kicked that way). Hopefully the dead state of my character won't be saved due to the major fuck-up of the Hive and whatnot ... ? Naaah, guess what ? when you die on a bugged server when the system fails, that's recorded. But 5 hours play session yesterday night (with only momentary de-synching) , not recorded. Aaaaaaaw yeah, new character again, don't know if I will be able to keep this up much more longer though.

I hope in real life you would come to this conclusion before finding a weapon. :D Enjoy the infinite number of choices you will have to do from now on.

What is it you want from Dayz?
Ael replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To be able to build/gather more stuff, in order to loose more stuff when I die. To have some kind of In-game media/tool for players to build themselves safe havens, so that they can loose it. And then, drama loads of it. -
Awwwwwwwww. Man-up !

Yup, but pointless 'till the game has been secured from glitches and scripts. It'll probably happen when the standalone version will be released, hopefully.
