    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

And I can say for certain that (at least in my case) the glitches are still present regardless of the AA setting. I've been playing with AA disabled from the beginning and the glitches have been present since 1.7.2.4. Changing the video memory settings does not resolve the problem einther. So there is no solution that works for everyone. Guys, please stop claiming that people are stupid or something just because your solution does not work for them!

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

You guys have to admit that at least the ammo count is logged correctly with the new patch (in most cases). @Devs: I'd like to see a 1.7.2.6 hotfix before the next major update that is basically 1.7.2.3, but with the ammo count fix. AFAIK the other features introduced since 2.3 do not work properly. Then you can go for the next big update and introduce new features. Just my opinion and probably you are already working on that. Anyway, thanks for continuing the developement of this mod!

My AA is always turned off in DayZ and I do have the glitches. ATOC is turned off was well and AF is set to normal.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

I'm getting more graphical glitches than in 1.7.2.4 and there are some really weird and creepy ones among them. This screenshot was made in a residential building in Cherno: http://imageshack.us/f/805/arma2oa2012081101253599.jpg/ And these were made near Balota airfield: http://imageshack.us/f/195/arma2oa2012081100201660.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/f/193/arma2oa2012081100210725.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/f/849/arma2oa2012081100202208.jpg/ This strange formation in the center of last screenshot seemed to perform an animation (sorry, no video) which looked like the movement of vegetation in the wind. Maybe trees or bushes are causing some of these glitches? However, I found out that alt-tabbing to desktop and returning to the game solves the problem for the current area of the map. Flushing the graphics memory and changing AA und graphics memory options did not help. My specs (laptop): Win 7 x64 Home Core i3 2310M @2,1 Ghz 8 GB RAM ATI Radeon 6770M, 1 GB Arma 2 beta: 95883

    Noob with a Ghillie Suit

According to the wiki it doesn't. I did not notice any differences in zombie behavior either.

    Noob with a Ghillie Suit

You might lose gear due to bugs at some point (at least in 1.7.2.4) since putting on the ghillie suit can delete your backpack. However, dropping your backpack to the ground prior to that might delete it as well (especially in the woods). Just be aware of the risk.

Where to find the good stuff ?

You might want to look for crashed helis. Good places to start would be around Stary/Novy Sobor or between Polana and Gorka. I have found 4 crash sites yesterday and 6 the day before (~10 hrs of playing combined) and have found pretty decent gear: 1x AS50, 1x L85, 2x M249, some FALs, DMRs, M14s and medical stuff. Unfortunatelly no NVGs :(

    Ghillie suit wanted urgently

You're a very determined ghillie suit delivering person!
  10. ScottyTheEngineer

    L85?

I found one at a crash site yesterday.

    Is it true?

147 posts and you don't know where the mall in Cherno is!? WTF!? I recommend the ones in Berezino though, better quality products, nice employees. They even give you BJs if you ask kindly...

    Guns & Gameplay

@Deuzerre: I just wanted to start threads concerning aspects 1) and 2), but then I found this one. 1) This is supposed to be a zombie survival game, but it's becoming a high tech war/guerilla simulation. High tier loot should be rare, but it seems like 1 of 3 players is running around with anti material rifles and night vision goggles (myself included). And if they die, they just have to fetch another gun/ghillie/nvg from their tent and can do this like 10 times before they run out of gear. I know, many items are spawned by duping, but even without it the overall number of itmes would be increasing. Currently items disappear in 3 different ways: 1. being despawned, 2. being destroyed in a tent/vehicle 3. due to bugs. I assume that 1. won't happen to top gear too often and 3. can be neglected in the standalone. I also assume that the number of really good items spawned in baracks/heli crash sites surpasses the number of those destroyed (most people destroy tents because hoarders annoy them and many items are hacked. This will hopefully be fixed in the standalone). Conclusion: the total number of good items increases. At some stage this will lead to something like 200 AS50s, 400 M240s, 600 NVGs and so on per server. I suggest the following measures to fix this in the standalone: - there should be a fixed items-per-player ratio for every item, depending on the number of active players in the last 7 days or so. For example, if there were 200.000 unique players in the last week and the number of NVGs on all servers and in the inventories of those unique players is 80.000, additional NVGs may spawn until their number reaches 100.000 (or the ratio is 0,5). This way "rare" items would be rare indeed. - limit the number of tents for each unique character to 2-3 ON ALL SERVERS COMBINED and limit the storage space in tents and vehicles. I suggest 40 slots per tent. In addition, a tent should be able to store only one primary and one secondary weapon (and probably 1 NVG/rangefinder etc.). This way average players would still have a chance to find good items, while regular players would be rewarded by having a second or third kit of gear in their tent. 2) I agree. The anti-material rifles seem out of place in this game. I vote for them to be removed.
  13. That's some interesting ideas. I think the sleeping system might work pretty well in conjunction with safe havens like the underground bases proposed by Rocket. Your character would have the need to sleep after a certain period of time and if you don't, this will have negative consequences. These might include slower speed, decreased carrying ability (so you might drop items eventually) or even passing out. Therefore players could choose between returning to a safe base to sleep without the possibility of being robbed/killed, or sleeping in the wild. I'm not sure about the removal of the loot spawn. Players would eventually run out of ammo/medical supplies etc. if servers are not restarted regularly. If saving is done on the hive, a new server would be instantly overrun by players in order to loot it for the new supplies. Servers with different modes might be a solution indeed and I'd like to give it a try while the mod is in alpha to see how it works.
  14. +1! I want a DeusEx/Thief like feature to make players unconscious and rob them :D It takes time to find a weapon like this and most players don't have one. Plus you still can kill players either because they heve a low blood level or because you hit them in the head by accident.

    Why break what wasn't broken?

More weapons => less violence, is that the logic? I don't see how beeing armed from the start would prevent deathmatching. Besides, being a survival game, DayZ should deliver the survival experience while being unarmed AT LEAST at some early stage, right?

Maximize Frame Rate On DayZ and Arma2 - Low Frames Fix

Thanks MorninAfterKill! I gave it a shot but I did not notice an improvement in fps... nevermind (I use ATI Radeon BTW). Does anyone know what the localVRAM and nonlocalVRAM settings in the Arma2OA.cfg are for? I have a graphics card with 1024 MB of dedicated memory and set the video memory option to "default" in dayZ. localVRAM and nonlocalVRAM were set to something like 300000000 (supposed to stand for ~300 MB?) by the game engine. I changed both to 1057497088 (~1024 MB?), just like in MorninAfterKill's cfg. However, it didn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas on what to do with those options?

Will I be able to run DayZ?

I play it on a i3-2310M @2100MHz, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6770M/1GB in low-med quality settings @1680x1050. I get about 25-30 fps in average, ~20 fps in towns. Hope this helps.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

First of all: thank you rocket for making this mod and delivering updates! Just for the statistics: I have encountered the graphics glitches, the "ghillie-replaces-backpack"-bug and the "animal-meat"-bug in 1.7.2.4. However, there seems to be a change to the spawn mechanics: I have looted about 20 deer stands and found (combined of course): 1 AKM without ammo, 1 Remington with ammo, tons of ammo, generic loot and garbage. In previous versions you could find a gun in about one of 2-3 deer stands. Has the weapon spawn rate been decreased for deer stands? Can anyone confirm the lowered spawn rates?

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

Performing the disconnecting dance while beeing raped by zombies, great! There is an animation for bandaging btw, so you can tell if someone is bandaging or not.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

My ALICE pack was turned into a standard coyote pack when I put on the ghillie and a few items were deleted. Here is the bug report btw: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/39127 However, it seems to work fine for others.
  21. I had this problem in Berz as well, but it became extreme when I was near the miliary camp, but only if I looked in this direction. I have come arcoss multiple barb wires without having the glitch, so I think the problem must be elsewhere.

Bandage + Jerry Can + Empty whisky bottle = Molotov cocktail

Yeah, a lot of work needs to be done for this to work, but I like the idea of throwing a molotov cocktail into a zombie horde and watching angry burning zombies running around :D You have my beans
  23. Good idea! Something is definitely wrong with the vehicle system as it is now. I've been playing DayZ for about 4 weeks now and I've come across only one vehicle so far that I could actually drive. You can get geared up with military weapons with no effort (this should be changed btw), so you should be able to able to repair a vehicle with medium effort. Edit: what I actually mean is that you should be able to find a repairable vehicle with medium effort so you can repair it. Edit 2: my nickname would finally make sense in the game :D

Suggestion for the woods farther north

Let's play from beginning with every new big patch!

Every player has his own goal. The goal of the game development atm is to add features, balance things and get rid of the bugs. With my last character I have been alive for about 30h, was fully equipped and survived NW airfield after being forced to defend myself. Yesterday I was killed by the open-door-bug in a tiny corridor and I don't care. You can't expect a complete game experience from an alpha. Maybe you're right there, a wipe might not be neccessary for every minor update. However, the millions of tents and buggy stuff is affecting server performance and that should be fixed. So at some stage Rocket will have to wipe anyway. Maybe offtopic: IMO the current number of players is affecting the development of the mod in a negative way. Thousands of players are begging Rocket to leave certain things as they are just to be able to stick to the game mechanics they are used to or to keep their tons of loot. I hope he won't listen to them. This mod needs to evolve cause it's far from being completed and most of its potential is stil untapped.
