It's like anything you do in life, it has a learning curve. Making yourself a piece of toast is significantly easier than making beef Wellington. Thus playing Mario is far easier than playing DayZ. I suggest a little patience and putting into practise the ideas, suggestions and training from the numerous sources on this website and others.

Last night we were crawling our way to town that had a hospital for some much needed supplies. As we rested in a field behind some bushes, one of our party was scanning the town with a pair of binoculars for players. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted some movement behind a bush, I would guess 150, maybe 200 yards away. Unsure what it was I warned the others over TS and took a knee keeping my eye on the bush, suddenly a round whizzed past my head and I heard the report from the bush, I then saw the outline of a player to the left side of said foliage. I aimed with my M249 and squeezed off 4 lots of 2 rounds and saw a death message come up in bottom left. A quick glance in the top right confirmed my murders had gone from 0 to 1. My question is this, is there any way the game can pick up that it is self-defence? Does it not register as a bandit kill because the guy I shot didn't have enough kills? Which police station should I hand myself into? Thanks in advance.

I agree with MinxinG, military weapons should be more difficult to get hold of. Although AK weapons are common place in the former Soviet block.

In that you cannot receive the benefit from the other path.

Or you could try asking for help, but you run the risk of being killed and looted.

Crawl to a hospital.

I don't think it is possible. In WoW the 20 second delay to logging out works if you try and exit, but you can still crash the game out. Are you saying the character would remain in WoW even if someone crashed out? I played for a while and don't remember this happening.

That's another level - could turn into a great mechanic, eat more than 5 human steaks and become a zombie. Or make it a random number between 3 & 6. So you can take a chance if your blood is low, but do it too many times and you risk turning. Evil! I love it.

RAM will only get you so far. I would prioritise replacing your GFX card. You can pick up a very decent card these days for less than £100.

You could try asking for help, failing that try crawling to a hospital. If you're going to suicide you'll either get the stuff to heal or get shot. Survive.

Sneak into a supermarket - they spawn prolifically.

Rumours abound about the development of a standalone version of DayZ. I imagine there would be a ton of work to do before anything remotely workable was available. I think your wishful thinking is just that, isn't the licencing options for those engines ludicrously expensive?

If we're sticking with the realism aspect - why can't you beat people/zombies over the head with a crow bar? You could extend this, if a rifle is empty - why can't you swing it by it's barrel as a club?
