Will 'Rockets' proposal resolve the disconnect exploits?
Gogster (DayZ) replied to Dempsey (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You run the risk of punishing someone who has genuinely lost their connection. -

How do you know? He could be lawyer for all you know about him. -
Well Jerry cans don't have to just hold fuel, irrispective of what the in-game description says. You'd only need say 2072 of them :(

Personally I agree with the ability to kick for clan members, which is essentially what you are saying, or at least implement reserve slots. -
Drink instead of Eating, killing the Hunger a little bit

Then those players are going to die. Processed food in tins will not last forever - in the apocalypse you've got to fend for yourself. Boy scouts wash cars and clean windows. -

Is this a wrong thing to do?!
Gogster (DayZ) replied to rayking29's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you are defending your goods then fair enough, if I had just spawned I would not make a bee-line for items behind sandbags/barbed wire. If you're picking off newly spawned players for fun, then that's pretty low. -

The problem is you are not logging out, Alt+f4 is a system command, as far as I know there's no way to trap it in a program (game). -

I think the developers want to push hunting and cooking, so you should make knives, matches and wood a priority. You may survive 30+ days without food if you were sedentary, but not running around Chernarus, trying to survive. -
The power of the hatchet! I am shaking!

Good work, your reward? Some beans. -
Why should they? I do like the idea of randomizing their hit points between an upper and lower parameter - so you never know if you've got a 'tough' one.

I believe you need a watch as well, or maybe a compass - one of those devices with the map will show you your location on it.

spawn with friends and build loots
Gogster (DayZ) replied to vertigo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I disagree. Spawning in a location and then trying to meet up with your pals is one of the beauties of this game. Anything that makes it easier I am against. -
Sounds good - stick it in the suggestions section.

Good work sir, have some beans.

What is it with American kids hacking?
Gogster (DayZ) replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What a silly little comment. My experience of hackers, cheaters or whatever you want to call them, is greed. Many hacking sites give away taster hack which whet the pallet of people looking to dominate a game (yes it's a bit sad that people don't want a challenge, they just want to 'own' everybody) they then charge for member hack, VIP hacks - whatever terminology they choose to use. These hacks are normally paid for. The people creating these services couldn't give two hoots whether the person gets banned by any anti-cheat software as they've already taken the money. The hacker gets an income, creates more hacks and the cycle continues. If gamers didn't want to cheat then there would be no market for the cheat developers, sadly we're all human and fallible. Some time ago, a chap who used to contribute to the PunksBusted website, who also happened to be a lawyer, started researching new methods of shutting down cheat writers websites. Hacks contravene virtual property rights and accepting money for them is a federal offence, in the States at least. The problem being is the FBI can't shut down peaodphile sites effectively, so the chance of anyone grabbing the mantle of this problem, of which outside of gaming, no one could give a toss about, is slim to none. He attempted, the lawyer that is, to get the buy in from the game developers and publishers with their weight and monetary backing. He encountered closed doors every step of the way. Over the years I 've come to the conclusion that game developers and publishers make the right noises about cheats to make it sound like they care, but in reality have little compunction to do anything about it. -
Personally it's an indication of the realistic scenario Rocket is trying to portray in the game. Without emergency services where's the nearest hospital you'd have to crawl to?

Gogster (DayZ) replied to Gogster (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Punkbuster on its own struggles, seems Battleeye is in this stage - but PB with additional admin checks is a valid tool. Just calling it shit doesn't do anyone any favours. Does Battleeye even support admin screenshots? -

Calling for backup with friends in-game?
Gogster (DayZ) replied to Tenderness's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you have a group of real life mates that play or you were in a clan previously, you can still use Teamspeak or Ventrillo to communicate. In fact that's what we do. -
I'm not sure you needed to make a second post on the subject. Try reading the advice in posts and in pinned topics.
