Why bandits ruin this game...
Gogster (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, people expect to see co-op game play and are disheartened to see that most people revert to banditry. In fact it's not even banditry, because they don't take anything - they just kill for the hell of it. -
A la Twilight 2000 I would like to suggest the introduction of stills into the game, so you can manufacture ethanol. I think (oh god a community member is 'thinking' ;) ) that it would be a fairly simple introduction, but as it gives players fuel and would have a detrimental effect of reducing visits to petrol/storage tanks, make is so a considerable amount of foliage is required and a brewing period of 1-2 hours (game time) to produce 2-3 jerry cans worth. Over to your guys to pull apart.

Someone's already suggested Whiskey brewing (are you going to wait the 12 years :P ) This is more to help keep vehicles going and add another aspect to the game.

Griefer, Hacker, and ALT+F4 - Not yet another thread

It's similar to video evidence on the PsB site, which the community voted for. I'm not against the idea, but it would need to be moderated and controlled. No it isn't, you just don't know how to use it properly. -
Hi guys, I'm new here !

First launch does seem to take some time - subsequent launches can be quicker. Click your middle mouse button when you see the two inward facing arrows, not roll. Welcome by the way  -
I have matches, I have a jerry can.

Give anything a whirl that would encourage a modicum of team play. -
What is the point of the Czech Vest Pouch?

No packs on spawn and they should spawn less in the supermarket. Have normal day packs, with 3-4 slots which are ubiquitous. -
Unlikely...

You could try that excuse next time you in court ;)

Yep - that's the time to alt-f4.

That's outrageous >:(

Click play in Steam and select re-install Battleeye, if you're having trouble?

Looking at the way the Windows short cut alt+f4 works, I've come to the some conclusions: DayZ is a mod - not really sure what language it is written in (assuming C++) which requires the ARMA II Operation Arrowhead. Assuming OA is the 'base' for the mod, any code written to affect alt+f4 would have to be written against the OA code (could be hugely wrong). You can test in C# the reason for the user as it's part of the Form overload. If DayZ a form? Does it have access to these classes? If not, there may be little the mod developers can do about it. Some people, in a previously created post, have said it is easy to overwrite alt+f4 in code, I'm not so sure - if it were easy wouldn't they have done it already? Maybe they don't want to do it. Bullish coding is considered bad practice. Keeping a character in the world may punish those who's connection drops, however this may not be to much of a bad thing. There will be those that lose connection due to hardware/network issues and remain in the world for 20 or seconds perfectly safe. Those in battle will suffer the most, probably dying from something that may have been beyond their control. Personally I think monitoring the trend of the user is the way to go. A suitable algorithm against number of disconnects against time played could easily be used to detect combat loggers. Looking at most of the posts that people add to these forums, actually getting in seems to be the biggest problem, rather than getting kicked off (I'm sure some will say they do). Persistent disconnections could indicate someone who is combat logging.

Less snipers as of wednesday..

I think Wednesday should have a capital letter. -
The mindless PvP is a problem, but there is no effective solution. As it was said in another thread, go up to the hills and avoid the towns until you desperately need supplies.

If the night was remotely realistic I may be interested - the current can't see your hand in front of your face scenario is crap.
