And you have the opportunity to come here and discuss it with the server admin involved. Which is why (I think) the system works and the ban rules need to be reviewed. If this had been numerous other games he'd have no redress whatsoever.

I've not accused you of hacking, I can't be bothered to go back and read if anyone else has. I just don't agree with you copying the server rules to this thread and state we're doing something wrong as server admins. Running a server is more complicated than that. The rules simplify it. They're poorly written and do not cater for the fast pace with which the DayZ mod has grown. Furthermore, it may be rebellious, but I'm not going to stand-by whilst idiots try and ruin my servers. People don't post to the dev's when there's hackers on the servers, they look to me.

Not sure I agree with banning them for taking the vehicles or with what they did with them? Surely they can be blown up and set to re-spawn on server re-start? This is not one I agree with, this time.

Unfortunately the game has a hard enough time tracking all the objects it has to track at the moment - without adding in custom message. Also, use the search - this has been suggested before.

I fundamentally disagree with you. It shouldn't take drastic action such as shutting down loads of servers - it should be as simple as trust. As stated in the previous post - we're talking local bans, the players can go and play elsewhere. This is a storm in a tea cup and players are getting far more air time than the subject really warrants. Like some bloody smug kid who manages to blame someone else for their bad behaviour. Ridiculous.

You know it's funny watching everyone jump on here and spout the "you can't ban line" from the server rules. Server admins have been hosting servers for years - more years for me than I care to remember. On any other game the person kicked off for WHATEVER reason would have nowhere to go. Generally they would come to our forums and bleat about it. Sometimes the ban was lifted, sometimes it wasn't - depending on the persons attitude and what the kick/ban was for. I have no idea what rights the people coming here to moan about being kicked or banned think they have? Aside from some poorly written rules that are vastly out of date. We pay for the servers, no one else - you can talk about blacklisting servers (in our case it's a dedi so we'd install something else and move on) but the devs need the servers as much as the server admins want to host the mod. In that respect there needs to be a degree of trust from the devs that the server admins can do a good job and do it fairly. Lets remember, amongst all this rage that these are not global bans we're talking about here - the player can just piss off and join another server.
