Just so there's no confusion - markers in the log file can be a hack, it all depends on the circumstances it is used and the call that makes it happen. Best to provide a segment of the log for advice. -

If aa12 was in respect to addWeapon then it'd be good to go, but GUID's can (and often do) have aa12 in them, change the Scripts.db to search for "aa12" -

But very few hits on actual cheat files - luckily we're pre-scanning them with Notepad++ a Regex search terms. -
Should 1 Hit Kill Sniper rifles be removed from DayZ.

There's some shameful selfishness in these replies. Carebears and such like, do people forget it's our game too? If you're gong to compare snipers to the military and real life, are you actually aware how rare snipers are? My opinion is keep the sniper rifles, put bands of zombies in the woods and let them be attracted by the huge report from these types of guns. -
Probably best to stop your server first - then upload it to the correct folder. I'm not familiar with the Vilayer interface, sorry.

Something as important as this needs pinning and versioning. We have the 24kb version from yesterday. I wasn't able to get on last night - but I'm not aware of many spurious kicks. -
Current problem with Scripts.txt - ALL SERVER ADMINS READ

With the current problem with the Scripts.txt means the file is being re-named to Script_old.txt automatically by BE. Can I suggest that ALL server admins raise a support ticket with BE to suggest they stop this action and allow us to implement the changing of the action for the offending line to a report instead of a kick. As it stands we now have no script protection on our servers till this is sorted. Go raise a ticket: support@battleye.com -
How do I find scripts being run?

In the cfgdayz/battleye folder - there's a file called scripts.log. Use the CheatFinder tool in the server general forum to parse it, otherwise it'll take you all day. -

Although I am talking about a shared ban list. Doubt you get 100% take up though.

No one forces you, either check for cheats or don't, but if you don't - don't come here moaning about script users. We know the deficiency in the Arma engine, you've been advised how to combat it. Make a choice.

Because BF3 ranking is DayZ weapons and equipment... Surely you can see that?

They come and go in spurts - all I know is over 200 people are not getting back onto my servers. When I first started there were 100-150 script detection in my log files, now it's down to 20-30. Could be coincidence, could be that they know my server files get checked every day and you will be banned.

You can't have a ranked BF3 server passworded, how is this different?

I don't agree with this. I think a proactive admin using the tools we have available is better than locking him or her self in their room.

I would like the community to get away from "forcing" people to do anything. But there's no reason why a server admin would not implement a shared ban list that had verified, community added bans.

BF3 doesn't have a scripting engine, you're comparing apples and oranges.

Actually the shared ban list idea is the money shot. If the script users knew that they were going to get banned from every server running a shared ban list! Surely that would be good deterrent? Evidence bears this out, of the 3 people who have bothered to contact me since they were banned, all 3 of them were happy to find out they were only banned from my 3 servers.

A private server admins forum, with: A list of known scripts for developers to create detection programs when parsing log-files. A shared ban list, controlled by you if you wish, that we can vote and add people to and download - we can also add the relevant log file section A discussion section within the forum for discussing new cheats and what format our regexs/inStr needs to be to detect them, Tutorials and guides for administering your server etc.. Just some initial thoughts.
