how come some ppl are well geared despite hacking?/
Ribano replied to dogtree's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
duping? yes alot of people are geared due to duping but not everyone, my team have no player kills and we have an as50, 2 fals, 2 m16's and some nvgs. not amazingly geared but easily enough for now. helicopter hunt and gtfo fast afterwards. -
THIS! too many people building up a post count just telling others to be quiet. pointless
-
its made the game unplayable for me at the moment. i hope this is high on the priority list as i imagine most people will now be avoiding military areas due to this shit.
-
i play this game to get away from real life. not continue it!
-
why do people complain about disconnecting?
Ribano replied to MikeTupper's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it takes me so long to load the game i couldn't imagine purposefully closing it to avoid a gunfight! -
Now don't get me wrong i enjoy playing DayZ alot, but does anyone else feel its starting to hit a downward spiral. personally now i'm so used to losing things due to glitches, dodgy zombie paths or just being spawned with things missing i now play the game as if i'm a new character and just see how many zombies/players i can kill on that night. has what turned out as an excelent little mod on the arma II engine turned into a nightmare for the developers? i'm aware its alpha and that things are going to have issues, but what i'm more concerned about is trying to create an excelent game on an engine that only specialises in half of what the game is about (PvP) is it really any suprise that there is rampant banditry/pvp in the game when that is what the engine is designed for? and then even if PvE does work really well eventually, will the habits of the 500,000 people that have been playing thus far be able to change? and then there is the War Z coming out. (i know its just screenshots etc) but lets say that does come out and it works as described. even though its a bit different. how long will it be til people get fed up of glitches and issues with this engine and move across? again im not hating on DayZ i just thought this would be an interesting topic for discussion without the need for crying :)

well it is. in terms of survival against other players. but the environment has become non existant. except for the fact you have to run for a while to get back to the PvP. rocket needs to release a patch which makes pve much more immersing. or release server files that allow people to spawn in cherno with a pistol and duke it out haha
-
"Implying that there is a "HABIT" that people need to follow It's a sandbox for fucks sake, people do what they want, not what you i don't care what people do or do not to. i'm just trying to look at it from an objective point of view, where the game is currently to where rocket says he wants
-
and you can just fuck off. instead of spending your time playing with font colours and talking about the exact same shit every other fanboy here regurgitates every 5 seconds why don't you read the posts before hand, realise this thread has nothing to do with failing at the game or anger. and everything to do with looking at the current issues and limitations the game has. which every game has
-
nono you are meant to kill each other, there should be PvP i completely agree. but the other poster saying it is just PvP and that is all there is to it, that is not what rocket is saying. he wants base building etc. so within the point of this whole thread (which is entirely objective and not about crying or not enjoying the game) is whether day z is struggling in regards to, engine limitations. and also with the fact that it has so many players that regard the game as PvP only which is not (according to its developer) what its supposed to soley be
-
if you listen to rocket i'm pretty sure that is not what he wants the game to be. the fact its being played like that now is part of the problem i'm talking about
-
its a sad state of affairs when you give beans to people for actually making a constructive post but hey ho! i agree with you there opeth. DayZ with all its floors has 1. made a lot of money for Arma and 2. made me want to buy Arma 3 dayZ or not. i used to play CoD aswell and now when i play i just get annoyed with the lack of tactical awareness and lack of recoil etc etc. so its changed my opinion of what makes a good gun game
-
exactly. lack of end game, bugs and general boredom of PvE are all factors that - love the game or not - may contribute to a mass exodus , either when somthing new is released or just down to frustration. 900,000 unique players is a huge ammount of people. but i know 5 that played it and didn't like it after a day or 2 and haven't been back since. so while i agree it is NOT struggling getting new players to try it out. i think a question is still unanswered on whether they will manage to keep the majority of those players and whether making alpha open was a smart move.
-
a very impressive feat! so would you guys say the gamble of allowing mass gameplay at alpha state on an engine that is soon to be replaced was a good idea? i guess you could say that the fact it was released first has afforded it a cult style following already, with up coming titles such as the war Z being compared to it and not the other way around. but then on the downside you have to deal with the bugs, the new graphical issues etc. which potentially could drive alot of the "players who don't understand" (which i imagine is a large proportion) away from the game before its been polished
-
just because i play day to day doesnt mean everyone will. im simply trying to start a discussion! i know were in alpha but i thought arma was pvp based (ive been corrected) war z is coming ( i know its fucking screeenshotsss) will the issues day z has at the moment cause its popularity to plummet? its just a topic of interest!
-
thanks for the input. i was never not over it, im just trying to start a discussion to get peoples opinions.
-
i dont mean struggling with popularity at all. as i refered in my post im talking about the engine they are using and its limitations and whether or not you think the developers are having a hard time trying to fit square pegs into round holes when it comes to the survival aspect of the game. but thankyou all the same for being a cunt ninja x

well i for one would love to be running along and get spotted by a beastly zombie that can aggro from miles away with a horde in tow. why not. realism? its a game in russia, that spawns american weapons, their are more deer stands than hospitals, you have to reload your hatchet and people hang around in spawn places to purposely lower the population. its a game. its about being entertaining not everything has to be "realistic" (term used so incredibly loosely its practically pointless) and not every suggestion turns this game into cod, l4d or minecraft. and surely if a steroided motherfucker got infected he would be more beastly than mythbusters man

Beach Spawn ------------------------------------------------------------------------North Low amount of zombie spawns---------------------------------------------------High Shit Loot------------------------------------------------------------------------------Awesome sauce thats the basic idea. in order to promote new players into the game without being daunted and to spread the play within the risk vs reward type game so you're a n00b, or you're shit like me. and you spawn on the beach near cherno. all you want is a hatchet or somthing but you get shot by a ballsack in a sniper..why? because cherno is really one of the best places to be, you can get mags, lots of medicine, food etc. so you're pro and you're in the north. you have a squad of 6 and you hit the airfeild everyday. you get into the occasional pvp battle but you have tents and other than that you can loot til you're hearts content. but what if we made it that medicine dropped in large quantities was only available in little tents to the north, and in the south they vastly reduce it. and less zombies around cherno, less weapons but more basic shit like beans, soda, bandages. and in the north zombies are tripled or even quadrupled. and they spawn in the forrests as well as the airstrips and if you aggro one then you aggro a ton. this way not only would it be practically impossible for people to skip the weapon teirs by going straight to nw airfeild. it would also reduce the point of coming back to cherno once you're beyond that level of game as the things you need to sustain you just arent there, you'd need your mags for the next trip north
-
oh i'd also add two types of zombies - noise makers and silent. the silent ones would spawn in corners of buildings in the north so you can't just run in un armed

Griefer, Hacker, and ALT+F4 - Not yet another thread
Ribano replied to Sol (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
can they not do this automatically? i'm not any good at code but surely they can put somthing in that works like damage taken at 08.32.24 , player disconnects 08.32.26 and then issue a strike depending on the time an engagement is active compared to when a player logs? -
there hasnt been a new suggestion on here for weeks haha! rope-done bases-done more zombies - done harder zombies-done endgame-done currency-done-headlamps-done faster boats-done more weapons-done less weapons-done russian weapons-done its all been done. and we don't know which will be implemented, so people keep making them in order to try and catch rockets eye. until he says no you have to assume he's either thinking about it or has yet to see it
-
no-one is crying, its a suggestions thread for trying to improve the game.
-
don't say son when you look about 15 haha. the way things are done at the moment is too high risk to stay. risk involved yes but at the moment you are probably going to get shot and your stuff taken. currency will eventually just mean goldfarmers ruining the game, at the moment with permadeath and the probability of dying they are kept at bay. i'd suggest making the risk come from the inabilty to move and the noise of a trade , but the possibility for it to be done from across the map. e.g. trades can be done from any town, both players must be in a town and be actively looking to trade, while a trade is in progress the use cannot move, and a noise is attached to the trade. trading takes 30seconds after both have accepted , and in that 30seconds you are completely oblivious to anyone who may have been tracking you etc

Empty all tents and vehicles every X days
Ribano replied to tobiassolem's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i say no not because of duping, but because it would limit the amount of players testing the end game
