My Opinion i've read all of the posts above and i think that building bases will become the ultimate end game of day z. but to build them must be an incredibly time consuming and risky thing. i think that the shipping containers idea is excellent but if it were to be implemented i'd want to see containers spawned in other locations as well. using trucks that are very noisy and slow is also a must as it adds a high level of risk to your operation. a base must also be maintained to stop people from building multiple bases on multiple servers, with a 50 man server the chances are you are only going to get 5-10 bases at most which is easily accommodated above ground and also provides a focal point for raids and gun fights, much like the airfield does at the moment
  2. in all fairness to the OP even in a zombie infested world currency would eventually come to exist. otherwise you can only trade for things that you want for things that they want. where as with something that holds a monetary value you gain the ability to extend that trade to a third person ( the money being the middle man) and so on and so forth.

    i don't agree with the OP but i think being able to label every suggestion you don't like a COD copy should be banned. end game needs to be added but goals should be freeform. provide the materials to build, to exterminate, to trade, to travel but let people decide the projects they and their team want to undertake

    i like this idea, perhaps it is too high tech but then again a wire fencing kit + road flare could produce the same results on a smaller scale

    says the biggest moron of them all. rocket has said numerous times that he looks on these threads for inspiration - yes there will be bases - he has said possibly underground - he has not said how this would be done so if people want to tweak or change the idea why shouldn't they?

    to begin with i thought underground was the only way to go in order to preserve the map and keep things safe, but the more i think about it i think the difficulty to build a base should be that hard, that the amount of bases that are of a decent size would be that small per server that you might as well just have them above ground having them above ground then brings positioning - overwatching - zombie defending - traps etc etc into play, not to mention those big camo nets

  16. this is the best idea yet to create real nice bases. multiple crates can be joined together with interior walls replaced or left in to create compartments. digger required to bury them (as i know this game is going underground) with perhaps a concrete ring and a ladder to get into them?

    ooh the other issue is, when you shoot someone they usually die. a better game mechanic in my opinion would be that they went unconcious and would require a second shot while they are downed for the kill. i mean if you're in a fire fight you aren't gonna aim for the leg.

    Ok being able to rope someone thats prone would be useful but we'll see about the lassoing. Also, you need to retie up a player because otherwise you only have a 5 min window of them being tied. Essentially you are just tightening up the knots so that they can't slip the knot and get out. i can just see people constantly retying poor people up just to be pricks. for hours and hours

    sorry i may be being dumb but if you are using mils instead of heights in comparison to mildots would the size of your screen not fuck up that calc?

So i thought i'd come to the sniping hub of day z to ask this question. i understand that you can use mil dots to find range (1.8 x 1000) / height of a standing person in mildots = range but what i dont understand is how you use the mildots to hit someone outside of your effective range for instance you are zeroed in at 1000 and the person is 1300 away. small increments can be done by guesswork but what about really difficult and accurate shots :)
  21. i know you could calculate it i was just pretty sure there was a way of doing it just with the mildots. rather not have to pull out my pad and calculator while im trying to snipe :)

    no to friendly fire - yes to grouping up! with the ability to have a group chat direct speak, and possibly a loot system that allows you to choose a single person to hold loot or it to be split randomly etc etc. group members also show up on your map/gps?

    navy ship! it could have like 9 spawn locations - military grade, and possible chance of broken helicopter. only possible to arrive by boat or air, (ladder is too high for a swimmer)
