  1. i like it. especially the blood type and taking blood from other players thing. it "forces" player interaction without beeing totally constructed. also OP thx for the read, it restored part of my "i want to play the standalone" :)

    What do you want on a DayZ server?

    i would go for 'dedicated, non-opportunistic admins with a vision of the game (preferably close to mine) who can provide a stable and hacker-free game.'
  4. the server runs pretty stable for me now. good vanilla settings, one question though: at nwaf i saw an airplane in one of the hangars, that's not vanilla right? and sidechat. i know it ruins the hardcore for many but maybe you can enable it until there are more players on the server?
  5. filthy casuals^^ the purchasing totally ruins a server for me. never will play on one of them. pay2win is ruining many great games imo... money money... best part is it's often called "free2play" haha

  9. hi all, i am looking for someone who wants to team up with me. i am a mature guy playing DayZ for a year now and i like PvE servers. that does not exclude playerkills. for me there is just no point in pure PvP in DayZ but i like the thrill of other maybe hostile players around. it would be nice if our playstyles fit somehow. i like to play: -vanilla or "harder environment" e.g dayzero (no 500 vehicles, no extra barracks, no extra/changed loottables...) basically i want to experience "rocket's" concept of this game. -chernarus only (so far, i just didn't play any other maps and i like it that way but this may change at some point) -mostly on low populated private hive servers (like 5-10 players, no ghosting possible) -i am not very experienced in PvP, ok though at killing and loosing zeds i think -german or english language plz, EU servers preferred i can use any comunication program, or ingame chat. so if you think we should play together, leave a message here or add me on skype: carlosvandb i am looking forward to quick-loot the cities, explore the map and maybe find some camps, hide some ATVs, stashing Antibiotics, stalking ppl, find an arch-enemy and battle ;-)

    think of a sandbox where you have like 99% non-hostile items and 1% weapons. the weapons are weak, lets say the makarov is the new DMR. ammo is scarce. the zombies are: -faster than you, so no easy running away -really strong (hp), like bodyshots would only slow them down -harder, more knockdowns, more damage, more bleeding, maybe same infection :) -massive in numbers -easily attracted by sound (i mean if you fire a hunting rifle in a forest you can hear the shot for some kilometers in reality) -.... just damn HARD zombies they would pose a bigger thread than other players. i think that's all you need to reduce KoS to a minimum. not that it should disappear, it is part of the game and the fun. but by making it so much harder to get a.) geared up to pose a threat to other players and b.) fire shots without getting killed afterwards, the "CoD players (no offense...)" would lose interest as the sandbox settings would not fit their preferred playstyle anymore. now there is no point in working together against the zombies. playstyles would change if there was one. my opinion, in short, it's a wide topic... this is working together. also you need a bandit friend.

    New server poll :)

    i like the official/default version of dayz as in vanilla untouched (2 AB starting gear is not untouched...). i don't like every server having different settings. so i am constantly looking for said servers, EU, private hive, not shutting down after 2 weeks, to call one of them my "home". i find next to nothing. currently i even don't want to play because i can't find a vanilla server that i'm willing to stick with. so imo there is a huge split up of the playerbase because of every server having different settings. that's not necessarily a bad thing but i would be glad to find at least a few private servers for the fans of "default dayz"...

    if your definition of PvE doesn't exclude the occurence of PvP and is more towards hard environment, scarce loot etc. i would like to play on your server. however, i don't know if you are a dedicated admin or just want to collect some money. i totally would pay for a stable good server that fits my playstyle but play on your's rather for free at the beginning.

    i am more worried about everybody running around with motorcycle helmets for protection... at least it should have some disadvantage like decreased FOV so you would only put it on if necessary.

    by the way... alpha is a state not a date^^ i think if rocket sticks to the plan and makes a solid fundament along with some balancing the SA will have great potential. if there will be enough long term motivation to play in the sandbox, i'm glad the "hype is over". and eventually the casual cod players will move on to other games :)
  18. in my opinion part of the problem is that there is nothing to gain from a friendly behavior at all. in terms of a "rational playstyle". sure it can be fun but thats no reason to team up (in a z. apocalypse, for me). and i don't mean the teamspeak teams, i talk about the random surviver you run into. if you spot someone ingame there should always be that rational question what to do. not because i'm in a friendly mood or what. simply because of the advantage vs. risk you should have with meeting any other player. imagine in the zombie movies there would sit some maniac on a hill sniping survivors in a large city for "fun". after some shots fired a massive horde of zombies would go after the noise. it would be just stupid to do that if your goal is to survive. in dayz it's possible because the settings of the sandbox allow it: -many snipers, military weapons -you can outrun zombies -weapon sound radius is a joke (attracting zeds) -zeds are mostly cosmetic entities i think it is only a matter of "balancing" and the general sandbox settings. (which are currently very much in favor of the "COD players" ;-) that is part of the reason why i liked 1.7.7. so much.
  19. hab gerade getestet, mit 2x AB als startgear spielt die infektion kaum noch eine rolle, zombies sind wieder langweilig... wenn ich AB brauch, spawne ich halt ein paar mal neu.. oder such mir nen freshspawn. sonst gefällt mir der server sehr gut :D

    i had an ATV parked close to a tent and was exchanging loot. many times the option "save ATV" appeared at the tent scroll menu and vice versa. when i was ignoring it and driving away after 1000m there was still the "save tent" option in EVERY scroll menu. then i wasn't able to eat/drink and the whole menu/inventory system stopped working properly. also there was more lag and i had to restart the game. at Berezino docks i walked north to the fueltank and low value industrial spawn just at the northern edge of the docks. as i come closer to the low ind. spawn building (10-15m) i "glitch" on the roof, everything shakes and i break my bones and die. happened 2 times in a row (same server). i experienced both on public hive FR 356

    1.7.* Infection WIP Update

    my thoughts on the infection thing... is there one zombie movie where it takes more than one bite/scratch (fluid exchange) to get infected? i know they are supposed to not be zombies but... yea. that is what makes them scary. if this is the zombie apocalypse your biggest worry would/should be not to get infected. ...and what i'd like to see in a sandbox-zombie-apocalypse game: hard and scary "zombies". like if you get spotted in a big city and the horde is chasing you, 2 out of 3 times you end up dead. only with good brains and/or weapons you would be able to survive a massive horde of zombies. because they would be pretty stupid but also fast. faster than you. and they would not make a break when they come close to you to let you get ahead again. ammo and good weapons are very very rare and you would save every bullet. if you spot another survivor you should be able to benefit from working together in many different ways. no violation of the sandbox concept though. if you are infected i would like to have a very complex system of fighting the infection. e.g. for the best chances of surviving it you need -warmth, no rain/cover, not hungry/thirsty, antibiotics, bandage, some pills, a buddy who gives you some kind of transfusion, and many more things.... this results in 99.9% chance of cure. you could lack any of the above which would decrease your healing chances. e.g. you are not hungry/thirsty and you are warm -> 20% cance of cure. in addition you have now bandaged your wound -> 30% chance you have found a better bandage, remove old one, apply new -> 32% chance. and so on... it would be a process of fighting the infection. what i like very much atm is the number of zombies influencing the chance of infection. that adds a lot to my "fear of the horde". but i'm not sure if or how it's implemented... i just assume it is for my pleasure :D
  22. das finde ich sehr gut, nur verstehe ich dann überhaupt nicht warum folgendes: - Es könnten 1500 Fahrzeuge auf der Map sein. - man Spawnt mit einer leichten Survival Ausrüstung Makarov, Flashlight, Patrol Pack, Zelt und Antibiotika. infected? kill the freshspawns...
  23. hi all, my name is phil, i'm 29 and from germany. i am looking for one or a few mates to play dayz with. i tell you a bit about how i like to play... first of all i don't like KoS and PvP with no purpose other than killing. i like to have a "home" server (no high population) and hide stashes and stuff. explore the map, find new good spots etc. when the stash thing is set up i like to drive around the coast, give rides, help the freshspawns, medic around or mess with the tents/vehicles in the north, follow other players unnoticed (if i am able to...) generally i try not to shoot others until they shoot at me or the situation demands it otherwise. i play dayz for about a year now, only chernarus, vanilla, no added stuff did you like 1.7.7 ? or still too easy? my skype is carlosvandb

    Current State of Dayz

    since there is no endgame for me (i dont like slow FPS) i liked the rare loot and generally beeing scared of zeds. for the first time it was "not that easy" to run-and-gun. i liked the high infection rate, only a few more treatments other than antibiotics would have been nice. i'm really hoping 1.7.7.2 will bring back a bit of the hardness as announced. yea and thx for trying to make the game better.
