  1. lol? It now takes 5 hits with the AK-74 to kill a player. It takes 9 to 15 hits to kill a player with one of the pistols. It takes less hits than that to kill someone with an m4 or AK or the starting pistols in COUNTER-STRIKE. FREAKING COUNTER-STRIKE. "Intense short-lived firefights" my pale hairy ass. Fact is, this weapon nerf by Bohemia is plainly unrealistic and is simply intended to make ARMA 2 mp missions against AI easier, because if you notice, all the weapons that were nerfed are OPFOR weapons. This nerf wasn't created with DayZ in mind. If it were, then the nerfs would be more consistent across the board (why aren't the m4s and m16s nerfed?), and m1911s and revolvers wouldn't be broken now because their clips are prohibitively small in regard to how many hits it takes to kill a single zombie... while in normal ARMA 2 it makes sense for the .45 ACP guns to be so nerfed, because players are soldiers wearing flak vests.
  2. The problem is that sniper rifles are too common to find. Make them rarer loot spawns. As rare as NVGs. Bingo, problem solved, without removing the aspect from the game. Practically speaking, it would also make the DayZ world more realistic in effect... there just aren't many people who can use sniper rifles with any reliability, takes a great deal of training and practice. Soldiers good enough to qualify as designated marksmen are themselves uncommon among their peers, and rarer still among a group of mere civilians trying to scavenge weapons and stay alive in the post-apocalypse.
  3. You apparently don't realize how messy .45 ACP is when fired into an unarmored body. A 9mm pistol round, I agree with you. But .45 ACP? I don't care if it's a walking corpse, anything that gets holes blown out of them that big isn't going to stay on its feet. Animated corpses or not, they still rely on muscle-locomotion and nerve-signals to move just like any living body, and .45's stopping power annihilates that.
  4. One problem with the nerfs is that their inconsistent... if the ak-74s are nerfed, the m4 and m16 variants should also be nerfed. The ammunition each use are very similar. You can make a case for keeping the AKM higher in damage, but not the m16s and m4s. The other problem is that it makes 1911s and revolvers nearly useless unless you get a headshot every time, because of the clip size + inventory space constraints. The clips are just too small for these weapons to be balanced with the damage nerf -- now each 1911 clip or revolver ring clip is only reliable for killing a mere two zombies with body-shots. I'm sorry, but that's completely broken for a game with only 8 free active handgun ammo slots that also has to include bandages. Might as well toss the guns entirely from the game, the gross inventory space inefficiency makes both pistols worthless. Oh, and all this is to say nothing of how borked it is in regard to PvP. PRETTY SURE a person isn't supposed to be able to walk away from having an entire clip of .45 ACP fired into their chest, but somehow that's the reality now in DayZ.
  5. People, banditry is an important part of DayZ. LEGIT banditry, that is. It's the player-killer trolls that shoot people just to shoot people -- usually on the coast and in Cherno -- that harm the game. You know, the players that just wanna make the Murder number go up on their debug monitor, under the delusion that it's an accomplishment. So this talk of 'PvP free servers' and kicking any bandits is just silly. The post-apocalypse is gonna have people who try to enhance their own survival at the expense of others, guys. Trying to remove that element from DayZ is *not* part of Rocket's vision. edit: clarification... my comments here are also citing discussion I've seen on the Steam page you link to
  6. Mock-racism humor is okay, just so long as you never forget it truly is MOCK. Afterall, black standup comedians make fun of white people for like half of every routine. (huge Dave Chappelle fan, btw)
  7. Deer stands will get you get decent weapons, and there are several supermarkets in smaller towns in the north that are much less likely to have been picked clean by other players when you get there, unlike in Cherno/Elektro. Or you can hoof it all the way to Berezino, and probably leave there fully kitted and much less likely to get shot than in Cherno or Elektro.
  8. To the rest of you: It's easy to avoid low-skill PK trolls like Food here, because all he does is camp Cherno. Btw, pretty sure I've sniped a dumbass named 'Food' at least once on a rooftop in Cherno. These idiots, being so bad at the game as they are, don't seem to realize how exposed they are to any half-decent sniper that knows how to zero, watching Cherno from the treelines north of the city.
  9. This is pure comedy right here. Player-killer trolls (they ain't bandits, banditry has a constructive purpose, albeit immoral) are invariably bottom-fraggers in other games, and they play DayZ and troll the coast because they get frustrated going 1 and 15 when they play CoD or Battlefield or whatever. People with real skill have more self-respect, and thus engage in real challenges (e.g. going north and hunting people as well armed as yourself). On the other hand, shooting unarmed survivors is something a retarded monkey could do. So. Retarded monkeys. Nice company you put yourself in, 'Food'. I don't hate you. I have far too much contempt to hate you. You have fun now continuing to be shitty at video-games, and desperately pretending otherwise because you manage to click your mouse a few times on weaponless players in DayZ. I get a real kick out of it when clowns like you upload your clips to youtube, actually entertaining the hilarious delusion that the footage passes as an equivalent for the frag highlights you were never actually good enough to manage in other shooters.
  10. I'm only seeing one server in the in-game browser when I filter with "freeside". Is the other down? And is the one currently up the 'primary' one? I ask because I just set up a tent on that server that I'm in the process of filling up with vehicle parts to trade with y'all.
  11. There's a distinct difference between a bandit and a thief, dude. Wow. Some of you guys need to crack a dictionary. There's a reason why we have different words for "marauder", "bandit", "robber", and "thief". They're not just interchangeable labels. There's a reason why law specifies a difference between petty theft/larceny and armed robbery, and why the latter is almost invariably a crime with much more severe sentencing. To say nothing of the whole murder thing.
  12. Yeah. While other people post videos of taking potshots at people raiding airfields and call it an accomplishment, myself and my two friends actually like to sweep the woods looking toward the hanger openings specifically to shoot on sight anyone camping those treelines. We actually ignore the airfield itself, because non-bandits can find their basic mid-level military gear needs just from deer stands. It's very gratifying every time we send an asshole who thought he was safe and sound being a murderer from 600 meters back to the coast to start over. It's more fun being a guardian angel than a devil, imo. A lot more challenging, too, because the prey is almost invariably better armed.
  13. Tents and Alice/Coyote military bags. Especially tents. What sort of items would you folks consider fair exchange for those? I won't be surprised if Coyote backpacks are too dear to be for sale, but I just thought I'd ask. Tents are the main thing, next Alice bags. Oh yeah, and depending on your usual hours of operation, I would loooooooove to join your organization doing whatever sort of work, I think. Guard duty, raids, scavenging, mercenary work, you name it, just so long as its not outright banditry.
