    Maniac Laughing in VOIP

Actually, I think it is. There's a difference between logging to save yourself and logging because you were so freaked out. I had a friend who played F.E.A.R when he was 10 and got to a part where he was in a long hallway and all the lights turned off and he started to hear things. He was so scared he immediately quit the game, uninstalled it, put the disk in its box and threw it out the window.
  2. I've been trying to meet up with a friend of mine in-game for days, and always come so painfully close before something goes wrong (like him deciding to climb a crane when I was around 200 metres away from him, he glitches on the ladder, slides sideways then drops to the ground and dies). When I asked him just before to join me in-game for another meeting attempt, he refused as he had to do something else, but at that moment this song popped into my head. Think about Day Z when you listen to it:
  3. I've always wanted to make it to the north-western airfield, but usually lacked the supplies to be able to make the trek. When I did get the right things, I often got killed by someone shortly after. Well this time I managed to secure the goods, but I lost a fair bit of blood in the process (down to about 7,000), and had no one around to give a blood transfusion, not enough beans to restore myself fully and the one thing I was lacking for hunting were matches. I began the journey anyway. The first part of the journey was mostly successful, though every time I got chased by a zombie, I lost my sense of direction and went the wrong way. I wanted to get to Stary Sobor. Similar features in roads made me think I was somewhere I wasn't, further prompting me in the wrong direction. Below is an image mapping out where I went. Hopefully you're able to follow the blue line from start to end. The red dots show where a zombie chased me and sent me in the wrong direction. When I realised I was back at Nadezhdino, I immediately killed myself and quit the game.
  4. I was playing last night when the server went offline. I had pretty much everything I needed to survive including a bunch of rare items. I was on the top floor of Castle Zub when the server went offline, and I decided to go to bed. The next morning when I logged in, I was in the ocean and had nothing, even my debug monitor hadn't sustained my previous progress, but I didn't create a new character. It just logged me straight into that spot. It's not the first time I've logged in and ended up here, although previously it didn't matter because I had nothing. It drops me in-between the islands here: http://dayzdb.com/map#6.119.121 Also I thought progress was supposed to be tracked across servers. I tried another server and was required to create a new character.

    The game of my dreams?

Some words of advice from my own experience. Treat other players with EXTREME caution. Some people like to advise you to be merciless and kill on sight so you don't risk getting killed by them, but personally for me this game is at its peak when I team up with a complete stranger (playing with friends is safer, but I find strangers to be more fun). If you find someone unarmed, jump at the chance to join up with them. Your chances of getting good equipment are much higher, also because solo bandits are less likely to mess with you (the other day a bandit killed my friend but because there were two of us, I managed to kill the bandit and his gear was fantastic that I took from him. If you have a weapon and they don't, and you decide to work with them rather than shoot, you gain their trust. But you have to be careful around them once they get a weapon as well until you're sure you can trust them. If the person you come across also has a weapon, point your gun at them and tell them you'll shoot if they turn towards you , but you're friendly and you'll team up if they want (and do shoot if they turn). This tells them you're cautious of them but it's not in your best interest to shoot them, once again gaining their trust. Until you can trust them, however, stay behind them and continue asserting if they aim at you, you'll shoot. If your group comes across another, especially in a town, the best bet is to kill on sight, because chances are they'll do the same for the same reason (unfortunately that's the way the game is). If you find a single person, same deal as before. Both of you aim and them and don't let them aim back. Hope this helps.

    Fairwell, had enough of this

I am probably overly trusting of other people. I've been backstabbed so many times. But it's all made worth it when I find a likeminded person to stick with and we go on our own dangerous adventures for a few hours. I just spent 3 hours with a random guy I met at Balota airfield making our way to Cherno to get some supplies to survive, by which time it became nighttime and we could hear the echoing of sniper shots resounding through the town, and see people run across a street being chased by a few zombies, completely unaware we were hiding in the shadows. One guy came into the supermarket while we were looting there, and he seemed to be hostile. We both just aimed at him and told him in voice chat that if he turns towards us, he gets shot. So he left. We were on our way to one of the hospitals when my partner suddenly disconnected, so our fun ended there. But it was some of the best hours I've ever spent gaming and totally worth being killed many times over to eventually find someone truly 'friendly'.

    Anyone else have Alt+tab issues?

I get this all the time. It's because for some reason, alt tabbing toggles on the look-around. Just double tap alt to toggle it off and you'll be back to normal (took me ages to figure out and cost me a few deaths).

Spawned in the ocean and lost everything

Zub isn't very close to the ocean, and that doesn't explain why all my stuff is gone. And it just happened again when the server reset.
