  1. Yeah I have all that stuff installed and we're running 95417, we haven't pushed up to 95660 yet. Got the latest BEServer installed, updated scripts txt and the #55 hotfix. And after bringing the server back up after the install we were getting #55 errors for crap that didn't even involve vehicles. Later in the morning, one of my clan mates and I were in a vehicle, we took fire from a target we believed was making off with a bike of ours, so we ditched and bailed to return fire. I got a shock icon, then got kicked for #55, my clan mate did not get kicked, took no shock, no damage whatsoever, but stated in Teamspeak that the vehicle had disappeared entirely....and it had only taken like 5 bullets maximum, from a handgun at that cause the guy ditched the bike, shot at our car, and started running away. After I logged back in, we confirmed there was no vehicle there...so my clan mate took the bike and I went and patrolled for any camps in the area to try to locate the guy that took shots at us. Finding nothing, around an hour later I passed by the place where we had ditched our vehicle, and it was sitting right there, with barely any damage other than to the tires.
  2. I watch my RCon pretty closely when I'm not actually on my server. I've seen several global bans attempt to connect in the last couple of days and the server didn't shut down. Not saying your situation is impossible though. I'll watch my server for a bit today and see if it happens to us. Have you updated to 95660?
  3. I'm an admin and no, I can't see how you died, and I can't see the location of fuck all except where people get setPos'd to when a mass teleport gets called. What we're allowed to see in our server logs is ridiculously scant, but I don't really mind, it keeps logs and what not from being metagaming tools. To be honest, if the DayZ team was half as good at keeping script kiddies from fucking up servers as they are at keeping admins from being able to use administrative information to metagame...this game would have no hackers at all.
  4. Actually I'm in a clan and I'll damn well tell you all our shit isn't legit. But...let me clarify, its not that we have a bunch of hacked vehicles and weapons that we shouldn't have...its the fucking tents. We put shit in our tents, we log out, we log back in and we've still got our shit, but the shit is in the tent too. Now while I'm sure some people do this with the full intent of exploiting it...all I can say is the dupes my clan has are because of the bug ass state of this alpha. I duped my crap once changing into a camo suit we found. I took off my backpack and put it in my tent, the camo suit put a backpack on me and it had all the crap I had in my backpack that I put in the tent. Pulled the backpack out of the tent and there were copies of everything in it. I wasn't doing this on purpose its just what happened.
  5. Heres the secret to avoiding hackers in DayZ. Join empty/low population ( < 6 players) servers. You're not likely to see a hacker. Or anyone else for that matter.
  6. So you play on all the Ascend servers at once? Cause theres hack for Ascend...right on the same site that sells hacks for DayZ. TERA Online and other MMO's have hackers, its just more subtle and not stuff you immediately notice. Duping and speedhacks are most common in MMOs. And TERA is no more secure than any other MMO out there. So to return your rather hilarious logic back at you.....you're essentially saying that because you haven't SEEN the hackers, they don't exist...which is a bit ignorant, all told. I'll just let the "idiot" comment pass. Its obvious you have trouble coming to grips with the concept of people having different opinions than you.

    Probably my 5th hacker thread

Arma Client: Please run this script Arma Server: Sure no problem BattlEye: What? I was watching Season 2 of the Game of Thrones.
  8. LOL I can buy a hack for Tribes Ascend from the very same site I can buy a hack for DayZ. Hey heres something interesting, I actually played the original Tribes and Tribes 2 and you could download hacks for those too. Show me an FPS game without hacks and I'll show you an FPS game that no one is playing. LOL at MMO's having no hackers, TERA or otherwise.
  9. What AAA title has no hacking whatsoever? I want to point and laugh at you after you say it. Also, that last big BE ban wave sure helped out...I mean I think we actually had like 4 days of semi normal play then the hack wave came back harder and even more brutal than the last wave.

    Hacking? ...or Admin Abuse??

Okay to be honest what it sounds like you're dealing with here is a hacker admin. But it might not have been, the RCon passwords for several hundred servers were compromised and leaked on the internet a couple days ago. Not all the servers have updated. So its possible you were just dealing with a hacker on a server where he had the RCon password, because whoever runs it hasn't changed their pass yet. Overall it could be one, or the other.

    oh so tempting

Not gonna flame you, a lot of people feel like you do. I'm part of a huge multi-game clan that has a large DayZ contingent, everyones just tired of the hacks, we barely had anyone on TS tonight in the DayZ channel. Most of them were in other game channels. Simple facts are, the hacks are sapping the will to play out of a lot of people. But I don't think they're ever going to make me want to hack. I just won't play. Eventually I'll shut down my server cause I don't want to deal with that bullshit either. And yes I know with a "MILLION UNIQUE PLAYERS" who the fuck cares about me, my clan, or my server? All I know is I do, and I wish I could enjoy it as much as I used to.

    Server Blackout

The problem is being active leads to potential transgression of our hosting agreement. We are active. As the example I linked shows, there is a obvious cognitive disconnect on where the rights of the admin begin and end. And the language of the agreement is where the cognitive disconnect begins. Without at least a tacit trust between the DayZ team and the responsible admins that are watching their logs and doing the best they can to weather the storm of exploits and server disruptions, there will never be any real progress in the collective effort between the DayZ team and the DayZ community server hosts, to address the issues positively and proactively. It takes server admins to ban hackers locally, it takes a partnership of tacit trust with the DayZ team to have the tools to ensure these bans are legitimate, properly logged and recorded to a central database, and, of course, used for the betterment of the community as a whole.

    Banning on servers.

Pull the trigger. Pull your recent RPT/Server_Console.log and scripts.log just in case you need to back up your decision.

    Server Blackout

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/61662-us-360-admins-tents/#entry589528 Theres a good daily example of why this needs to be done. Admins shouldn't threaten players, but players threatening admins is just a completely unacceptable state of affairs. Just today there have been two incidences of players getting banned from a server for some reason and going all batshit insane on the general discussion forums and metagaming camp information and telling admins how they're supposed to be running their servers. This is not an acceptable state of affairs, its not fair to server admins to consistently have their servers ravaged by these teenage "lawyers" who are blatantly misintepreting the DayZ hosting agreement rules as their justification for completely ruining an admin's server and even in many cases attempting to get them shut down. Why? Cause someone banned them...thats why. And the language of the server agreement leaves too much room for intepretation in that regard. No forum admin takes down these metagaming threads. They just get left there, the servers that are subject to their contents ruined, any attempt to play the game as intended is completely destroyed. And its all because the "players" believe they have more rights than the "admins". In my mind, everyone should have rights, a player should have a right to appeal a ban they feel is unjust, a server admin should have the right to place a ban they feel is warranted. And the appeals process should be followed to untangle the mess. But its not, all to often its just "THIS ADMIN BANNED ME, HERE IS THEIR CAMP GO LOOT IT AND DESTROY IT AND I'M TELLING ROCKET THAT THEY ARE BAD!"....what a wonderfully cohesive experience this is for our "community", and its all because the hosting agreement has engendered far too much player sided entitlement, and views all server admins with suspicion and whats more, the DayZ forum team does nothing to even attempt to mediate or control these situations. Admin bans player for alt+F4ing out of combat, player metagames admin, ruins server for...god knows how long, and completely makes all previously invested time on that server, for the admin and his group...worthless. I'm all for the rights of the player, but what about the rights of the handful of people who just had their entire DayZ experience ruined by one petulant child?

    US 360 Admins tents.

Man you people just keep coming. More examples for my argument for a network wide server blackout. You want to keep abusing server admins...feel free. Have a nice day when you kick up Six Launcher and there are 25 servers on it, all of them somewhere in Japan.

    Server Blackout

We have been telling them. We're not being heard. I wouldn't call our server controls all that comprehensive. Nor all that informative. The log data we actually have access to is pathetically nondescript and requires quite a lot of cross comparison and process of elimination to find out who used a script at any given time. We don't have half the information we need and the information we do have is inordinately difficult to work with, and probably for many newer admins, to even accurately interpret. And our legitimate players are being punished already ODoyle, every day, because we do not have strong enough tools to stop these problems at their source before the damage is done. Whats more, all indications seem to point to the fact that the DayZ team doesn't want us to have these tools in the first place.

    Server Blackout

More than words. BIS's engine is not open source, I'm not sure how you'd expect me to attempt to do this. There are a lot of good developers on the BIS forums that have done their best to try to help, nothing can be done without a major alteration to the Arma engine itself. You mean the community that consistently treats me and all the other server admins in the system like we're their personal servants? The community that continually pays 15 dollars a month to some hacker site and makes our servers unplayable, completely joyless chores to manage? Or the community that sits here on the forum and shits all over people who have valid issues? Cause I'm not sure I give a rats ass what either of those three parts of the "community" think. Everyone knows the solution.....DayZ needs to be running a version of arma2oaserver that doesn't accept remote client script execution.....you don't even need to be a software engineer to understand that.

    Server Blackout

That our hosting agreement rules need a little stronger faith in the administrative teams hosting servers, and, perhaps to allow us to develop a more cooperative and less hostile hosting agreement with the DayZ team. As stated, if I put up an Arma 2 server, BIS isn't standing over my shoulder telling me how to run it. DayZ though does. And I afford them the rights they demand, but, in spite of my attempts to play by their rules, the constant daily assaults on my server consistently force me to bend those rules. And in doing so, I am put in a position where I am violating my agreement, in some part, simply by trying to be responsible admin on behalf of the legitimate players on my server. Effectively while I'm not saying all server admins are saints, I believe there is far too strong a belief that "all server admins are potential admin abusers", this is far from the case, its about as true a belief as "all DayZ players are hackers". There are bad admins, but the largest percentage of admins don't need this draconian ruleset we're dealing with. The largest percentage of server admins are just trying to run a fair game for everyone. And this draconian ruleset can, by its very definition of the language it uses, stop a legitmately responsible server admin from being able to present a fair game atmosphere for their players. Effectively, we do a lot of work, we deal with a lot of shit, I think we deserve a little more trust, simply because we're willing to do that....and the money doesn't even come into the equation. We need more power as admins to decipher who is exploiting our servers...there are third party tools being developed for this purpose but someone at BIS or the DayZ team should be handling this. We should be able to detect script injections in progress and ban before the damage is done, not after. Effectively, I'd like the DayZ team to treat admins like partners, not potential criminals. Cause I'm not abusing the DayZ system...I'm spending 10 hours a day AFTER my real job, trying to deal with the fallout from the people who are.
  21. Hive might be recording those metrics. But server admins don't have that data in their logs. So I'm not entirely sure if the Hive is recording player kills player messages or not. Doesn't seem like it would have any recorded data to draw on for its records, unless the death/respawn session sends those ID's to the Hive only.
  22. Not interested in giving up that much personal data to sign a damn petition. Feel free to send me a snail mail copy or something.

Mega Camp Location -- US 1555

Take you and your 13 year old's sense of entitlement and throw yourself into the highway as a failed fucking genetic experiment. You know what the right thing to do if an admin abuses their power? FIND ANOTHER FUCKING SERVER WHERE THE ADMINS DON'T ABUSE THEIR POWER AND DON'T BE A DRAMA QUEEN THAT THINKS THEY HAVE SOME KIND OF DIVINE RIGHT TO BE ANYWHERE THEY WANT WHENEVER THEY WANT TO BE THERE. The right thing to do when an admin abuses his power is to be better than them and move on, and if you really have an issue, report the server to the DayZ team. You obviously haven't reviewed your logical adult options of response.
