It's about survival. Fighting back against people trying to kill you should be self defense. Especially if it's in a zombie apocalypse :)

Could work out good for the servers that disable 3rd person view.

You can download ARMA 2 Free if you just want to play the Day-Z mod alone :) http://www.arma2.com/free

Considering Standalone to feature Single Player? (Future Suggestion)
TIC posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hi, I just wanted to know if the development team has some type of plan on making a single player portion that will relate to Day-Z. What I'd like to suggest is something that'll give off more of a plot to the multiplayer portion of the mod. This isn't something that should be immediate or soon but this is just a recommendation for the future of the DayZ to expand the experience. I will list down some ideas I have been considering for this. List Features -Play as a civilian prior to the unknown zombie virus and experience how it was spreaded. -Possibility of becoming infected = failing the single player alone. -Ability to explore and meet NPC's with the capabilities to teaming up or even trying to attack you in a panic. -Unlockable items that could be carried onto the multiplayer experience. (Whether it's clothing or a weapon, etc) -Experience the collapse of society within the duration in the aftermath of the pandemic; which means paranoia within Chernarus and such. -Co-Op mode should not be implemented as it would practically become a multiplayer portion. -Providing a backstory to the events of DayZ to better understand the history of the event. -No rules; which means an ability to eradicate survivors upon your own will or assist them for everyone's benefit. Reason This is mostly a productive idea for players to either want to know more about how DayZ became what it was or for people who happen to want to play an offline portion to either get yourself trained for the harsh survival environment which would happen to be the multiplayer between novice and expert players along with providing a plot within the mod to give it a good growth spurt for the future. Conclusion I know I might get some flack for this but consider it just a suggestion which could be a possibility to be ported into the future. I will praise support and opinions but not troll attempts. (This topic will undergo editing to produce further ideas/errors) -
Considering Standalone to feature Single Player? (Future Suggestion)

Yeah I completely understand that it'd be too much on the plate of Bohemia Interactive between this and ArMA 3. Purpose of this was to throw it as a future reference for DayZ. It can come in at any time frame at this point. I am very patient. On a top note, everyone is doing a great job with this :) @Beast; I can agree. The NPC's aren't top notch but does stand it's ground on standards. It all comes over time with improvements with the ArMA engine being entirely improved and up to date with modern gaming. Single player would be good for players that do not have an internet connection other than that. I can agree it wouldn't be any different than multiplayer ;) Perhaps a future expansion for DayZ instead of single player? -
Looks like good news. Please, take your time developing a masterpiece of a game that it currently is. I'll buy it regardless if I would be in Closed Testing or not ;)

Refer to this link for details on improving your DayZ/Arma2 experience with performance gains. http://www.rockpaper...e-Arma-2-tweaks Also, you can use start-up parameters within DayZ Commander. This is a method of where you wouldn't have to buy any hardware for your current PC unless it's considered for your own choice :)

I have this same problem too.. Particularly Day-Z Commander as well. Here's one of the solutions that might work. First Solution STEAM VERSION My Computer > Drive (C:) > Programs > Steam > Steamapps > Common > ARMA 2: OA > Expansion > Beta Delete the beta folder, empty the trash bin and re-install the right version from.. Manual Download(.zip File) http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Or you can have it automatically downloaded from Six Launcher or Day-Z Commander. Try both if one does not work Second Solution Go in Day-Z Commander, go to settings, check the box Override ARMA 2: OA After that, copy the File Location from Solution 1 then paste it in the override box for ARMA 2: OA. Then update once again WARNING: There are some cases where it says 'Looks like ARMA 2 isn't installed' if you happen to have it on Steam, launch it and it'll be resolved :)

Hey guys, I just want to throw out some ideas that I thought that would be helpful for the future of Day-Z. Advise that this is only suggestions, nothing has been confirmed upon these ideas. Bounty Hunter Most wanted bandit in server can be looked for, depending on how many murders has been committed; more valuable loot comes in Both bandits and regular players can be Bounty Hunters. Add In-Game Friend's List This would be essential to send private messages and server invites to your friends. Makes it easier to 1 on 1 chat. Maybe a party integration can come in later. Fatigue This should work something like this; Running, how long you been awake, pain(or other stresses. Even sicknesses) An item that should be in the game are sleeping bags or better yet, an ability to sleep in a tent. In order to awaken from your sleep, you have to type in a Capcha code that'll prompt on the screen. After you finish that, you'll get the energy you need. I'm just stumped on what the symptoms can be implemented into the game for. Fishing Why can you hunt when you can't fish? You should be able to go fishing in streams, ocean waters and such. With different types of bait and fishing techniques.. Fishing spots should be somewhat of a challenge or have fishing a challenge(I know it'd be easy food, that's why I emphasis it to be a challenge) Note; I will add more ideas onto this depending on your feedback. Thanks for taking this into consideration :D

Try re-downloading Battleye. I had the same problem. Re-downloading it seemed to be the best solution.
