  1. Click on the Snare. It'll come up as a picture of a rock and a stick combined. It's quite humane. Otherwise, thanks for all of your guys' support! I'll continue on thinking of more ideas and such. Let's keep pushing this idea up for implementation! :D :beans:
  2. That'd be hilarious! xD imagine if you had the W. Wallace face paint from the profile faces with that. That'd be spot on!
  3. From what I have heard, there'll be a trench door where you can enter and start building the tunnel. If it's built right, it won't collapse. About the fishing feature, I believe being silent and still is key into achieving with this. Being quiet includes not talking in direct chat(In-Game chat) with the ability to sit down with a fishing tool. :)

    Cars in Dayz

I also want to consider setting a car alarm as part of the Standalone. Such as bumping, trying to unlock the vehicle would set off the alarm. It'd attract zombies and scare off any offenders trying to steal your vehicle allowing the owner of the car being alerted of a thief.
  5. I do agree that there should be more of an authenticity within the mod. It was told that there is no story on how the outbreak happened yet, there are random weapons of different nationalities dug up around a Russian continent. It was not mentioned that any type of different armed forces came to the country. The guns present in the game can be replaced easily if done with effort :) I'm fully aware it's a mod but it can be updated with patches, giving the reason of a mod doesn't mean it has to be totally off cue.

    Cars in Dayz

Sounds great! I read another topic that was talking about having to find car keys. I think it'd be good then again what if you lose those keys somehow? Maybe something like being able to use a coathanger as an example would help. Rocket has mentioned vehicles will undergo a lot of improvements in the Standalone. Not initially but overtime it will be accomplished. I wish you good luck with this topic and hopefully this idea will be considered :)
  7. Yeah Mike that would work. With the adaption of building underground bases, I could see there being Punji Pits or even digging a hole for yourself as a shelter. It'd be great :) Better yet, instead of a punji pit, make it a pit filled with zombies so when a player falls, he'll be eaten. It'd work by making sound to lure zombies then put bait inside.
  8. I don't think drinking out the Jerry Can would be a good idea. It's not safe to drink out of something that was originally full of fuel that had been sitting in that jerry can for quite some time.. Even if you do sanitize it, the chemicals would still remain inside and you can't exactly scrub the inside of it. Those jerry cans are full of cancerous substances. I have to disagree with this man, sorry.

    Firing from/in Vehicles

During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car. Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that? A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done. The vehicles will be in-game content. Until we get that end there won't be best things that we want. Source:
  11. It won't be into the mod. Referred to the Standalone where they greatly improved the engine to an ArMA 2.5. It's a step above and below Arma 2 and 3. It wouldn't be possible for this mod but for Standalone it would be but not as an initial build along with vehicle/construction features.
  12. I had added fishing on the topic. :)

  14. Yes! I noticed there are lakes within Chernarus so there could be a possibility of freshwater fish. Maybe an addition to some bait such as bread, worms or insects.

    Self Defense = Banditry Fix

The humanity system is what makes a difference on your play-style and represents yourself as a character within DayZ. The developers believe the humanity system is necessary.

    Skill System in DayZ?

+1. This would be the great introduction to the Standalone as an MMO. Skills shouldn't be a big influence with the game but be something subtle in surviving.

    Self Defense = Banditry Fix

I just want to clarify this definition that I am trying to describe here.. The opposing player would receive a 'murder' if they achieve in killing a player from striking a player first. The defending player would receive a 'self defense' if they successfully defend themselves UNLESS they strike upon new players first Also, DayZ and real-life don't add up so please don't use those as a comparison.. Especially with murders. Not very thoughtful. This idea is meant to balance/improve the humanity system. And a response for TomBom, I happen to not be a bandit. I can take my chances with a mod as when you can die, you will always spawn again and retry. There is never a loss in easy achievable items. Some people may say that this feature is already implemented and it's not. I have encountered survivors trying to murder me as a player and it'd be counted towards a murder unfortunately but as time goes, I can really see this feature being one of the necessities for the humanity system.

    Self Defense = Banditry Fix

It's about survival. Fighting back against people trying to kill you should be self defense. Especially if it's in a zombie apocalypse :)
  19. Could work out good for the servers that disable 3rd person view.

    Already have ARMA 2 OA

You can download ARMA 2 Free if you just want to play the Day-Z mod alone :) http://www.arma2.com/free
  21. Hi, I just wanted to know if the development team has some type of plan on making a single player portion that will relate to Day-Z. What I'd like to suggest is something that'll give off more of a plot to the multiplayer portion of the mod. This isn't something that should be immediate or soon but this is just a recommendation for the future of the DayZ to expand the experience. I will list down some ideas I have been considering for this. List Features -Play as a civilian prior to the unknown zombie virus and experience how it was spreaded. -Possibility of becoming infected = failing the single player alone. -Ability to explore and meet NPC's with the capabilities to teaming up or even trying to attack you in a panic. -Unlockable items that could be carried onto the multiplayer experience. (Whether it's clothing or a weapon, etc) -Experience the collapse of society within the duration in the aftermath of the pandemic; which means paranoia within Chernarus and such. -Co-Op mode should not be implemented as it would practically become a multiplayer portion. -Providing a backstory to the events of DayZ to better understand the history of the event. -No rules; which means an ability to eradicate survivors upon your own will or assist them for everyone's benefit. Reason This is mostly a productive idea for players to either want to know more about how DayZ became what it was or for people who happen to want to play an offline portion to either get yourself trained for the harsh survival environment which would happen to be the multiplayer between novice and expert players along with providing a plot within the mod to give it a good growth spurt for the future. Conclusion I know I might get some flack for this but consider it just a suggestion which could be a possibility to be ported into the future. I will praise support and opinions but not troll attempts. (This topic will undergo editing to produce further ideas/errors)
  22. Yeah I completely understand that it'd be too much on the plate of Bohemia Interactive between this and ArMA 3. Purpose of this was to throw it as a future reference for DayZ. It can come in at any time frame at this point. I am very patient. On a top note, everyone is doing a great job with this :) @Beast; I can agree. The NPC's aren't top notch but does stand it's ground on standards. It all comes over time with improvements with the ArMA engine being entirely improved and up to date with modern gaming. Single player would be good for players that do not have an internet connection other than that. I can agree it wouldn't be any different than multiplayer ;) Perhaps a future expansion for DayZ instead of single player?
  23. Looks like good news. Please, take your time developing a masterpiece of a game that it currently is. I'll buy it regardless if I would be in Closed Testing or not ;)

    DayZ Performance

Refer to this link for details on improving your DayZ/Arma2 experience with performance gains. http://www.rockpaper...e-Arma-2-tweaks Also, you can use start-up parameters within DayZ Commander. This is a method of where you wouldn't have to buy any hardware for your current PC unless it's considered for your own choice :)
  25. I have this same problem too.. Particularly Day-Z Commander as well. Here's one of the solutions that might work. First Solution STEAM VERSION My Computer > Drive (C:) > Programs > Steam > Steamapps > Common > ARMA 2: OA > Expansion > Beta Delete the beta folder, empty the trash bin and re-install the right version from.. Manual Download(.zip File) http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Or you can have it automatically downloaded from Six Launcher or Day-Z Commander. Try both if one does not work Second Solution Go in Day-Z Commander, go to settings, check the box Override ARMA 2: OA After that, copy the File Location from Solution 1 then paste it in the override box for ARMA 2: OA. Then update once again WARNING: There are some cases where it says 'Looks like ARMA 2 isn't installed' if you happen to have it on Steam, launch it and it'll be resolved :)
