Eliminating humanity would also eliminate the differences of each person's purpose of survival. Having a humanity system gains ups and downs for them, causes them to think before what they do.

As you might not understand, DayZ takes place in Chernarus. A location where NATO(a US Force) and Russian Federation Army fought against eachother. So there'll be a chance you'll find American/Russian weaponry around the area. Being a mod doesn't change the whole game of what it is, that's what the Standalone is for. It's part of ArMA 2. Also, there will be more civilian weapons. For the civilians possibly being locals of the country, we could see more 'at home' weaponry.

Integrate DayZ Forum avatars, clans, chatroom for Standalone
TIC replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They'd be able to see your picture through the lobby or cycling through the player list for further information. That's all I have thought of :) -
Rocket had mentioned that there might be future content that would require additional payment, reason why the Initial Build is so cheap of $15 USD or £9 Pound. DayZ won't be pay-to-win.

I would think a DayZ app would be good but nothing with gameplay. Something like this would be good.. Ability to use a mobile device to see news, forum posts(able to send, receive messages) Possibility of buying new content from a mobile device for the Standalone to your account.

Banditry should not only be caused for killing players. I was thinking of adding things such as leaving items that are riddled with diseases as a trap for a victim, if the victim dies, it'll lower your humanity. Heroes can be deemed good for doing positive actions, over causing harm to players. This happens if you share your beans, medical attention and so-forth :beans:

Updated this topic with official responses, will be standing by for further news and more ideas :)

Well I turned out to be wrong about what I had suggested.. Q: Will you be able to track players or find evidence of a firefight, blood trails, bullet casings etc? A: ArmA III has got it, (I'm pretty sure) but there is an issue for us with memory and dealing with these things, we had something like that in the mod at one point where eating a can of beans left an empty can but that has issues effect framerate so I think it's a bit much in terms of bullet casings, so that's probably a no.

Make it harder to kill both zombies and players
TIC replied to hogscraper's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Zombies are going to have an advanced pathing over the Standalone which means they would be able to go in their own way of moving instead of following directly behind you at all times.. Along with that, they'll be more intimidating by their sound and looks.. They'll also be able to run indoors :) Removing weapons that are used to kill survivors/zombies should not be altered. It's suppose to be placed in a realistic setting for a zombie apocalypse; look at the factors of hunger and thirst for those examples.. Taking that away would take the name 'DayZ' off of DayZ. Here's how it comes down to it as a domino effect. Removing Weapons(With effective 200-300M shot) >>> No Snipers >>> Possibly a 20-40% chance of less banditry/survival attempts >>> Less navigation In conclusion; you might have had a bad time with people sniping you around? The way to avoid this is not to attract so much attention like sprinting around the fields and such. I'm not putting you down, I'm telling you from my experience. Another good way is to know where snipers usually gather around and always keep on an alert. Right now the architecture is bad like being able to see people at a further range better than close. :beans: -
Seems too 'high-tech' for the setting. How about a way to track footsteps or blood that was spilled onto the ground? Or even bullet holes on objects from how recent it was impacted into it? EDIT: Having a tracking ability on items as well wouldn't be such a great idea.. It'd be a win-win situation no matter what, if you lose it, it's lost. You can always get it back in your next spawn or in your next encounter :)

During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car. Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that? A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done. The vehicles will be in-game content. Until we get that end there won't be best things that we want. Source:

Hey everyone.. I have been thinking about how most times in situations you come upon an attack from another fellow survivor who is out to get you and you happen to kill that person upon your own defense but become a bandit as a result.. I was thinking of something along the lines of if you happen to get hit by a survivor(injured from them), it'll grant you an ability such as a timer or perhaps it'd be recorded somehow from that person who injured you directly. This would be able to let you fight back without becoming a bandit. It'll then tally up as to something called "Self Defense" Example would be in this text format DEBUG MONITOR Blood: 12000 Humanity: 2500 Temperature: Murders: 0 [ADDED]Self Defence: 0 Headshots: 0 Bandit Kills: 0 Zombie Kills: 0 Why? The reason I had suggested this is because there are differences within bandits are misconstrued as just strictly murderers when they had their own story of fending themselves off from hostile survivors along with settling differences to make bandits more connected with being known as a survivor murderer If you want to modify my idea or have your own opinion, please share and keep it mature :) (This topic will be editted for grammar mistakes and adding/removing ideas on this suggestion for improvements)

I believe there should be consequences of taking away someone's life over a can of beans, which is called a murder. But a way to combat this is to have the player an ability to defend themselves to keep their goods and survive a couple more days without becoming a bandit.

Can I suggest that I be inducted into the DayZ Team petition thread?

Well put. I believe the moderation staff has been doing a wonderful job. An additional crew isn't really required, it's all about experience :) -
Hey, I was wondering how you guys thought about using non-lethal weapons to keep your victims alive instead of killing them to have your humanity remain in a positive field? Here; I'll list some items that could be used.. Pepper Spray/Tear Gas -Could be used for crowd control, self defense or against animals like dogs. It's effects disorients vision and gives you the opportunity to escape. Tasers -A weapon that can constrict muscles causing 'neuromuscular incapacitation' .. If used often on someone, it could cause death disrupting the heart rhythm. Net-guns -Fires off a large net that can entangle people and zombies alike and possibly animals. It can capture or give the opportunity to do as you please after capture. Malodorants -A chemical compound which sends off a scent of smell that can be considered very foul. Causes vomiting, nausea and some discomfort. It could also be used to lure zombies to an area where the malodorant is applied. Caltrops -Could be used to stop vehicles and people alike. Purpose is to stop pursuits mainly from vehicles and block off a certain path. Could pop tires or even incapacitate vehicles. Batons -Melee weapon that can be used for non-lethal purposes unless abused to the extent to death. Relates to a club or a rod. If you have more to include with this, please post your thoughts here :) Topic Glossary by TIC321(Will be edited for enhanced navigation) Chapter 1: Integrate DayZ Forum avatars, clans, chatroom. I agree, it's been since November we seen a patch release. :) Probably in the next month or so in my guess. Edit: For those who have not seen the notes; find them here!: http://mydayz.de/en/dayz-news/228-dayz-build-1-7-5-preview

Rocket, I'd recommend that you'd keep the crosshairs optional so it'd balance out for the veterans and the new players for ArMA 2(DayZ) in particular since the controls can be difficult and sluggish so having crosshairs as something that can be controlled systematically over the server would be totally up to the administrator's choice. So I have to say; Optional.

How could I forget about that? I could see it being more practical for hunting and keeping predators away from your camps or your surroundings. I won't be adding that on because it's not a new feature :)

Flyfishing would be great. Any more suggestions? :)

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
TIC replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like to recommend this thread I had created which brings up new ideas regarding to Hunting/Fishing and new equipment that relates to it as a suggestion. I believe this would be great to expand the survival and adapting to the environments with the capabilities to being able to use the right tools for the right job. http://dayzmod.com/f...for-standalone/ Edit: Reason why I posted this link was because I don't want to explain my ideas when you can take a read on it instead since this topic is a brainstorming one. :beans: -
The thing I don't like is when you are carrying a flashlight, you are a bigger target from players with NVG's being able to spot you easier or anybody in plain sight(Military Flashlights help) This makes it a real big struggle for fresh spawns.

To add onto this, it was already discussed from what I remembered when Rocket discussed about vehicles.. It'd be great.
