The goal of DayZ is making a story so perhaps making choices should be key to survival. :)

Many reasons why we need the bandit, survivor, and hero skins back.
TIC replied to JayTee13's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I do believe that people should be entitled by their differences from their action otherwise it'd be a disguise of what wouldn't distinguish who they are. Having a Hero, Bandit and Survivor is the good, the bad, the neutral. I just think the humanity should be greatly improved such as players complaining that being a bandit was from self defense. Perhaps a player who defends themselves should be entitled as just a survivor, no penalties, no benefits for saving yourself. Banditry is the only thing that needs to be improved without suffering the players who are innocent. -
^ Oh shut up guys, get a dictionary. I'll link it to you. (http://www.merriam-webster.com/) I do believe zombies should spawn in remote locations since they can wander off in other places instead of villages, cities, small towns and bases. Not a lot, but only a few should occasionally pop out of the forests and such. :)

I wish DayZ would play like this more. Definitely make the gameplay more intensive and intriguing ;) The idea is pretty good, how about a car alarm system as well?
-
I think gathering berries or fruits off trees would also be good :)
-
I believe this would be great since in the new patch, you could be infected from them with a virus; with a chance of 1/1000(0.001%) so, if that chance were to happen, you would fall unconcious after it fully succumbs you then it'll say that you are dead.. The next time you respawn, you could see your zombie self roaming in the area where you once died and it'd be stronger than you in all means in their own instinct.
-
That's a good idea. I support :)
-
Also to improve aerodynamics :) With airflow entering inside your car, it'll only drag it out which means holding it back from performing better. Rolling down would be good in case being 'too hot' is a factor because being cold is a factor. Also it'd provide a slightly clear view and the capability of shooting out of your car(IF POSSIBLE) .. Lowering your windows would unmuffle the sound from Voice Chat comparing to leaving your windows up :)
-
I have heard that Rocket has plans on improving vehicles by adding components such as car tarps to keep it hidden. What I'd also like to see is.. Car Alarms; If touched or trying to enter inside, alarm will go off which would alert survivors and zombies around you. Air Conditioner/Heater; Feeling a bit hot or cold? Turn on some vents and blast some air on you to keep you satisfied! Option to roll up/down windows; Rolling up your windows would improve aerodynamics, saves fuel and keeps the interior of the car a more quiet ride along with some small arms resistance. Keeping them down allows air flow to enter the occupants keeping them cool and able to see surroundings better. Manual/Automatic Transmissions; No explanation needed here, just adds more variety to cars instead of solely being automatics.

friendly fire should be an option on servers
TIC replied to whatsmynameagain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I have to agree with the rest of these guys and say that Friendly Fire is a no go for DayZ. DayZ is entirely a mod that has a purpose of surviving. You'll encounter things that simulate realism. It's like saying because I'm your friend in real life, means I can't hurt you? That being said, it wouldn't be good if it was even optional.. Leave it for Arma 2's multiplayer that actually have teams. -
Agreed. Since because it takes another person to give you a transfusion, why not have more co-op methods like that? Along with building larger tents and fixing up cars?
-
It actually takes place around September or October of 2009 actually. It's in the game description :) it's also related to Utes(an island)
-
I think he means by actually climbing over large fences or barriers. Perhaps a co-operative method such as crouching down so your buddy can climb over you to get over the wall? :)

Join a server and get a kick for script restriction #41 then minimize your game, then go to your arma2 arrowhead folder. Expansion -> BattleEye and move out the BEClient.dllafter this go ingame and join a server you became a kick, "battleeye intilaziation failed" minimize again your game and paste the BEClient.dll again, go ingame and join the server! have fun!

[MOD] Weapons Poll - Overpowered vs Underpowered - Tell me if you think a weapon should be buffed or nerfed
TIC replied to Grimzentide's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you say Winchester is overpowered but you say slugs are underpowered? ;) -
I believe what you should try to do is hold down left shift and hit the minus key and type 'Flush' This should refresh your visual RAM; (take note that this method doesn't always work on some servers. This also helps take out artifact issues..) Along with that, since you are running it through Steam, try adding some parameters which could help improve your performance and reduce the chances of crashing. Go to Steam Right click ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead Properties - General(tab) - Set Launch Options And paste the following that you prefer.. -maxMem=<number>; <-- Remember to add your number in Defines memory allocation limit to number (in MegaBytes). 256 is hard-coded minimum (anything lower falls backs to 256). 2047 is hard-coded maximum (anything higher falls back to 2047). Engine uses automatic values (512-1536 MB) w/o maxMem parameter. -maxVRAM=<number>; Defines Video Memory allocation limit to number (in MegaBytes). Use to resolve e.g. Windows problem: http://support.micro...26022/en-us?p=1 128 is hard-coded minimum (anything lower falls backs to 128). 2047 is soft-coded maximum , any value over 2GB might result into unforseen consequences! -winxp; Forces the game to use Direct3D version 9 only, not the extended Vista / Win7 Direct3D 9Ex http://msdn.microsof...2(v=vs.85).aspx - the most visible feature the Direct3D 9Ex version offers is a lot faster alt-tabing. May help with problems using older drivers on multi-GPU systems. -noCB; Turns off multicore use. It slows down rendering but may resolve visual glitches. -cpuCount=<number>; Change to a number less or equal than numbers of available cores. This will override auto detection. -exThreads=<number>; Change to a number 0,1,3,5,7. This will override auto detection (which use 3 for dualcore and 7 for quadcore). -malloc=<string>; Since OA 1.60 - Set the particular allocator to be used. Significantly affects both performance and stability of the game.

Admin Banned from US2419 | Appeal
TIC replied to TheLibrarian's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I recommend closing the thread before it turns into a total fiasco with the new settings that are applied. Forum Admins are doing their jobs well enough. Just appreciate that we have these guys on overwatch on these topics for the most part. Keep it up :) -
Huge concept with different side features: Every action leaves a trail. Players heavy influence on the world and the consequences
TIC replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These are very creative concepts, really in depth with realism. What if vehicles had an option so you can actually see the gear inside of it instead of being invisible? It'd make it easier so you can determine how much you can actually load inside a car or a truck and such. I believe hygiene should be a factor as well because it could prevent diseases and attention from your foul scent after surviving for so long. -
These ideas would make a lot of sense and actually, I have heard you could be able to add components on vehicles such as a tarp to keep it hidden so I wouldn't be surprised you could add some upgrades but the problem with that would be more weight being added to the vehicle making it run harder which could cause possible overheating and more gas consumed if those were major factors. Shooting out of the car was already addressed by Rocket, I have a quote here.. During the Expo for Day-Z, Rocket did a Q&A and one of them was about shooting out the car. Q(Audience Member): Playing through a large group of players and there's always a question that comes up through all of us is when were in vehicles like for instance when we found another group of people with vehicles and we get into a nice car chase and a time that it really ends is that someone screws up like crashing into a tree or a blockade but in the Standalone are you looking into implement shooting from vehicles like you're a driver sticking a pistol out the window or a friend going through the sunroof. Are you thinking of implementing things like that? A(Dean Hall; Rocket): Well I know with ArMA 2 there has been some community made mods and this is one of the -- Ordinary thing of ArMA 2 is that they have all these fantastic mods of which DayZ is just a small part. One of the mods shooting from vehicles; there are some real technical issues with it and I can't remember whether it was ever on the ArmA 3 list -- I'm not sure, I'll have to look at the press releases on that but it's not on the list of things to do at the moment but I think we want to look at vehicles a lot that'd require some code time to do it but it's definitely not on the list of things for the initial release. We just have to be realistic like the hacking and the duping. If we don't fix that, it doesn't matter how many awesome stuff we can put in. I think this is something we should look at once we fix the basic problems because I see vehicles at least until we get this uber player construction that we want done. The vehicles will be in-game content. Until we get that end there won't be best things that we want. Source:

Integrate DayZ Forum avatars, clans, chatroom for Standalone
TIC posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
POLL IS MULTIPLE CHOICE, CAN SELECT MORE THAN ONE. HOLD SHIFT WHILE CLICKING :) Hi guys, TIC321 here. I want to share off some ideas that we can put in use for the Standalone that has been on my mind for awhile. I'll start off with Forum Avatars. Forum Avatars*Edited* I have been planning on an idea that we could be able to use our forum avatars in-game for the Standalone. Here's what it'd benefit. As you notice, there isn't a whole lot that'd benefit for Avatars ;P More of a 'persona' for your character in DayZ.Gives more attention to the DayZ Forums.Easier recognition from players who are familiar with certain players.Clans Clans are a big part of gaming and socializing, particularly in an MMO. It gives out teamwork and effort to survive in an apocalypse. Some people refer it as a gang, tribe, organization or even a crew. Improve the 'Group Channel' option where you can select players who are a part of your clan that you can talk to, either text or VOiP. (Distance on talking is determined)Symbolism; something like an 'underwear' only clan to recognize who that certain clan is ;)Adding a clan tag for their initials.Ability to recruit members by them accepting your clan offer, automatically gives them the clan-tag and recognition.Chatrooms A common problem on servers is constant chatter for in-game, making you mistake a survivor being nearby. A way to counter-act this would be enabling a chatroom in the lobby where you can be able to discuss technical issues or general conversations without the disturbance of your game. Chatrooms would work for forums and in the lobby but are not connected together of course! Highlighting a person's name in the lobby of who is using VOiP.An ability to mute or private message people in lobby.Options to change your video/audio settings so you wouldn't have to quit to the main menu for adjustments.Add 'Moderators' for the Standalone to maintain peace from hacking, harassment or game breaking exploits.Include a 'Report' option along with being able to click on the person's name instead of typing.Seen a good deed from a player? Give him/her a can of beans that can be transferred to the forums! :)Adding a chatroom into the forums which could help for immediate responses for technical issues and so-forth. Several websites offer this like CBox.Feel free to add on further ideas and insights, much appreciated! :) :beans: Topic Glossary by TIC321(Will be edited for enhanced navigation) Chapter 1: YOU ARE HERE→ Integrate DayZ Forum avatars, clans, chatroom. Makes sense, totally forgot about that since I had adapted to the feeling of the game so much. I can really agree with this. Works both ways, doesn't matter to me. -

An ID card sounds good. And I don't really want this feature to force people to go onto the forums to enable it :) It's something I would think would be good for players to get into that type of detail.
