Banditry shouldn't be punishable. It's a choice. It's what people choose as their story as what it is described for DayZ. I'm not supporting heroes or murderers. This mod seems to portray on how a zombie apocalypse would be like in the real world. There will be people who will kill others for equipment or self defense. Here's what I think can change for humanity, particularly Standalone. Symbols to distinguish bandits and heroes differently. This can be such as bandits having a scar over their face and a hero having a cape maybe? ;P If fired upon by a bandit or other survivor, it'd be considered as self defense depending if your sights was pointing towards them and such.

I think every character is capable on crafting items, it's just based on knowledge. Not an amount of zombies killed. I do believe there has to be some type of bonus for eliminating zombies. Perhaps every 50-100 zombie kills boosts your humanity by 50-100 points. Bonus items for an amount of kills is something I wouldn't recommend either.

Keep up the good work guys! All is looking good so far :)

We'll see with the Standalone. Things will be totally re-designed to prevent things like that :)

Weight as a factor, Ability to see items placed in vehicles.
TIC posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hey guys, TIC here. I would like to share about how weight could become a factor for your equipment and your character. This came upon my attention because many players do A LOT of running(Mainly Chernarus) Mechanics for weight. Weight will be available for Lbs. and Kgs, you could chose which one works better for you.Backpacks could have a maximum load such as a Vest pouch could only hold up to 6.8 Kgs or 15 Lbs; This one is uncertain due to backpacks having space available. With weight being a factor; it could make you become more exhausted with the heavier load which equals to being more thirsty.Over time with a certain amount of weight being carried, your character will develop an immunity(or muscle built) so you would become stronger if you have a balanced diet/proper rest/hydrated. (This idea came up since we will be able to grow beards)Breaking down weapons into smaller portions such as taking away the butt, stock, barrels, so-forth could make organization/weight a bit easier for your character but could make re-attaching your attachments back to your weapon a hassle.Making 'Overload' backpack an option where it could appear larger and possibly be more visible to zombie attention along with a small chance of your backpack breaking from the bottom, dropping all contents to the ground. With additional weight for vehicles, your car could consume more fuel decreasing your gas mileage.I also would like to see an ability where you could see what items you can store in vehicles. As of now, they appear invisible when storing your equipment which could be a possible hassle to newcomers + a glitch where items disappear when accidentally overloading. Seeing items in vehicles Able to attach bungee-cords to put stuff onto roofs and hold items along the bed of a truck.Items seen in vehicles could be damaged or destroyed if shot or hit by a weapon.Possibility of putting items in the passenger seats(back seat if not occupied).Going off 'ramps' or hills with air-time, could risk your equipment flying away and destroying it completely on impact.Makes it easier to determine how much you could store inside vehicles, also helps instead of going through the whole 'gear' menu which causes you to become an open, stationary target for other players/zombies. Weight as a factor, Ability to see items placed in vehicles.

I hope the variety for backpacks will be large. Or anything that doesn't have to be on your back such as a hand bag :P There should be hiking backpacks, messenger(or courier's) bags, children/college backpacks, laptop backpacks, hydration packs(like Camelbak for strictly water use) and sack packs. -

In ARMA 2, you could be able to carry a rocket launcher without a backpack(on your back) I think something like that is acceptable :) -

There's a difference between size and weight. Just wanted to point that out ;) -
Much appreciated. :) I also wonder if MRE's come with some form of powdered packages that you could use with water(such as juice, coffee, etc) to fill up your thirst?

ZOMBIES NEED THESE CHANGES SO THEY CAN BE PART OF THE GAME
TIC replied to shikanosuke's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is to give the zombies a bit more strength even though there are so many of them depending on the players. I think 50% infection is a bit high. It should work like this.. *Zombies can transmit an infection due to rotting flesh at a 15% rate when bleeding(Which is an open wound) .. Once transmitted, it'd take some time before your player reacts to the disease. -
Standalone Weather; more predictable/effective on player's condition
TIC replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I will continue to update this topic under your participation of sharing ideas and such. I think currently the weather system is bugged on how it affects your temperature. For most times, it remains the same and doesn't really create much of a factor towards the player unless you are in the water. -
I just came upon this topic because ARMA 3 caught my attention. I'm only optional to receive your invite and I just wanted to say that I hope you have fun with the alpha :) It looks like a really great addition.

How about vending machines that you are able to break and sodas/snacks would appear on the bottom? ;) Edit: This idea appeared since there are cardboard boxes filled with medical supplies :)
-
I'm disappointed by this. I was hoping to enjoy the food items that were recently updated to the mod version. I was hoping there would be a poll implemented if there were really a big disapproval for this.
-
I just think the true community should decide with a poll. I think the new items give it more of a variety. It's just that there appears to be a problem with Battleye kicking off players with it due to it not being up to date.

I just want to say that the DayZ development team have always been doing a wonderful job. I been playing the mod since the start of it's release and it's been a really great experience. One of the best zombie games I played, or the best now. Keep up the good work! Kudos. I have a question on the progress of the supposed 'Dog Update'? Will we happen to see it before the Standalone comes out?
-
I'm an active player to DayZ and I can completely agree to these issues, even I have become bored of the mod alike. These issues really sum up to what I had experienced too and at the same time, it has been addressed to be fixed in the Standalone release. For now, I think it's a good time to break away from the mod like I have and contribute to the forums which I can tell you have for expressing on how you feel and witness in the mod. Mod is a mod; not a perfect game. No mod is perfect in any aspect so to speak. A mod is basically a representation or a test before the final product is slapped on for the public. Feel free to uninstall on your choice. The mod won't be going anywhere anytime soon while the Standalone is in development. *****Red highlight is for your conclusion.

Would kinda helped if you used the search function, I mentioned this before. Refer to this thread here; http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/122657-improving-movements-additional-gesturesstandalonepics-included/#entry1171216

I heard that 100 is easily achievable but could make the map feel 'crowded'
-
I don't think this would do much. This can already be determined in encounters when you see people. Strength, I think could vary on how long you have survived for depending on your nourishment in your diet meaning the longer you stay hungry; less muscle and weight loss would be developed over time before succumbing to death. Skill system has been heavily recommended for DayZ and at the same time, heavily deniable even though the Standalone is shooting for the MMO style element. We'll see. To make characters unique, it has been confirmed that character customization has been a key factor to the Standalone. It's been done through possible customized faces and ethnicities along with additional clothing which eliminates the 'bandit and hero' outfits from the classic mod. Overtime, male characters will develop a beard which it's optional to shave off :)
-
I believe it should remain on the ground to a certain amount of casings. It's a good idea though.
-
Should probably use the search function; I made a topic relating to buildings in a more descriptive definition. http://dayzmod.com/f...e/#entry1153937 Museums are a great idea :) EDIT: New building types has been confirmed for the Standalone.

[3D model] Different Food Qualities (3/29 Update)
TIC replied to joeyslucky22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Will there be military rations? That'd be great since there are military bases and such :) -
I would like to see more "signs" of the zombie apocalypse.
TIC replied to andre_hauger89@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like to see that as well. I couldn't agree more. Rocket did mention that there will be diaries left behind to give out more of a story of what happened which is as close as we can get from this. What I'd like to see is.. Evidence of bullet impacts around areas to reveal that 'humans' were once around the area to defend themselves. More car pile-ups to conclude that traffic congestion wasn't good enough to evade the zombie horde. Furniture and items tossed aside in an unorganized manner, giving the vibe that zombies did what they could to get to people for consumption. -
I'm pretty curious about how that works, to have dogs ride in vehicles. (All are passenger only) *Motorcycles/Bicycles [X] *ATVs [X] *Boats [✓] *Sedans [✓] *Planes [?] *Helicopter [✓] *Trucks [✓] *Vans [✓] -- Maybe reenact Scooby Doo? ;) I also got a suggestion about dogs, I'm curious if there will be medical conditions that they can suffer like humans. Like breaking a bone or getting some type of illness?
