Hi, I was wondering if there was a way I could use a Dualshock 3(Playstation 3) controller for Arma/DayZ? I just wanted to test to see whether I'm better with the basic Mouse/Keyboard setup or a controller for my gameplay. :) Thanks!
-
It seems that an Xbox controller is easier to configure. Unfortunately I don't have them anymore. I'll make use with my PS3 controller then :P

I can agree with this. I'd like to see an option to getting your vehicle onto some type of lift when you have to replace a tire. It's impossible to replace a tire when it's on the ground. I'd also like to see some type of cooperation method like having a buddy working beside you on a car.

SA Suggestion: Trashcans/Bins, Dumpsters.
TIC replied to IkaikaKekai's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How about an ability to hide inside dumpsters as well? After getting out of the dumpster you have hidden inside, you'll leave a scent that could give you a higher chance of attracting zombies and have a possible disease lingering onto your clothes or even have flies fly around you(just the sound, like as if it's a dead body but more quiet) -
You guys are on it today! Thanks! :)

I think the hackusations is a current problem. I have been accused of it as well and encountered other players tossing this at eachother. Along with invalid statements like 'Bad aim' and bashing banditry but anyways, I am wondering how we can solve this issue for hacking. One of the ideas I had mentioned is a screenshot method for the moderator/admin to determine but at this point, the current team for DayZ is quite under-staffed to deal with this kind of element. This is why I had suggested that a team based on this would be advised if it's necessary :) I'd like to thank everyone for contributing and sharing their thoughts. I like this type of feedback very much.

-Knowingly submitting any kind of false report is considered a misuse of the reporting system, and may result in your account being penalised. Found in my topic ;) I believe this could be improved by developing a trusted team of moderators since the DayZ community is expanding and willing to contribute as is. It's a great community. I'm sure people would like to participate :)

I do think that since some food items are exposed out in the environment, we need to preserve it in some way. I agree with this idea.

I'd like to see if a player was attacked and was bleeding, they could leave small to moderate traces of blood that could stain the ground. More fresh blood makes it easier to track and makes it apparent that players were recently around or even footprints from muddy areas and such from rain.

It's better to use the Server Browser through DayZ Commander. The multiplayer setup through the main ARMA menu isn't all that great for DayZ. It's a lot more organized and categorizes everything you need to look for. Try that! :) Other than that, check if you're updated with your ARMA/DayZ Version.

Could anyone share some more ideas about this topic? :)

I'm going to keep this topic a bit short but with a big idea that I think would increase the survival realism just a slight for both the mod and Standalone. Would we see more abilities to convert ammo for other weapons? Here's the current magazines: http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Convert_Magazines

I think weight should be factored in as well. Because most players often carry a weapon in their backpacks(most likely a sniper), equipped with a primary and secondary weapon + equipment and if not wearing shoes would make you run faster, then that wouldn't make sense with all that gear to carry. If objects would be a harm for your feet, then you're only risking safety over faster traveling. The bottom line is; I don't think this should be integrated. It's fine as is.

It'd be nice if there was a translator for this gibberish :P
-
I'd like to have an option to be able to see your gear inside vehicles like Urals, sedans, etc instead of it being invisible. This would really help judge how much stuff you can really put inside.
-
Would this gun be OK too?

Banditry shouldn't be punishable. It's a choice. It's what people choose as their story as what it is described for DayZ. I'm not supporting heroes or murderers. This mod seems to portray on how a zombie apocalypse would be like in the real world. There will be people who will kill others for equipment or self defense. Here's what I think can change for humanity, particularly Standalone. Symbols to distinguish bandits and heroes differently. This can be such as bandits having a scar over their face and a hero having a cape maybe? ;P If fired upon by a bandit or other survivor, it'd be considered as self defense depending if your sights was pointing towards them and such.

I think every character is capable on crafting items, it's just based on knowledge. Not an amount of zombies killed. I do believe there has to be some type of bonus for eliminating zombies. Perhaps every 50-100 zombie kills boosts your humanity by 50-100 points. Bonus items for an amount of kills is something I wouldn't recommend either.

Keep up the good work guys! All is looking good so far :)

We'll see with the Standalone. Things will be totally re-designed to prevent things like that :)

Weight as a factor, Ability to see items placed in vehicles.
TIC posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hey guys, TIC here. I would like to share about how weight could become a factor for your equipment and your character. This came upon my attention because many players do A LOT of running(Mainly Chernarus) Mechanics for weight. Weight will be available for Lbs. and Kgs, you could chose which one works better for you.Backpacks could have a maximum load such as a Vest pouch could only hold up to 6.8 Kgs or 15 Lbs; This one is uncertain due to backpacks having space available. With weight being a factor; it could make you become more exhausted with the heavier load which equals to being more thirsty.Over time with a certain amount of weight being carried, your character will develop an immunity(or muscle built) so you would become stronger if you have a balanced diet/proper rest/hydrated. (This idea came up since we will be able to grow beards)Breaking down weapons into smaller portions such as taking away the butt, stock, barrels, so-forth could make organization/weight a bit easier for your character but could make re-attaching your attachments back to your weapon a hassle.Making 'Overload' backpack an option where it could appear larger and possibly be more visible to zombie attention along with a small chance of your backpack breaking from the bottom, dropping all contents to the ground. With additional weight for vehicles, your car could consume more fuel decreasing your gas mileage.I also would like to see an ability where you could see what items you can store in vehicles. As of now, they appear invisible when storing your equipment which could be a possible hassle to newcomers + a glitch where items disappear when accidentally overloading. Seeing items in vehicles Able to attach bungee-cords to put stuff onto roofs and hold items along the bed of a truck.Items seen in vehicles could be damaged or destroyed if shot or hit by a weapon.Possibility of putting items in the passenger seats(back seat if not occupied).Going off 'ramps' or hills with air-time, could risk your equipment flying away and destroying it completely on impact.Makes it easier to determine how much you could store inside vehicles, also helps instead of going through the whole 'gear' menu which causes you to become an open, stationary target for other players/zombies. I hope the variety for backpacks will be large. Or anything that doesn't have to be on your back such as a hand bag :P There should be hiking backpacks, messenger(or courier's) bags, children/college backpacks, laptop backpacks, hydration packs(like Camelbak for strictly water use) and sack packs. -

In ARMA 2, you could be able to carry a rocket launcher without a backpack(on your back) I think something like that is acceptable :) -

There's a difference between size and weight. Just wanted to point that out ;)
