  1. I do think the flashlight has more drawbacks than the flares do. Tossing a flare does lighten up a particular area without you being seen. Holding a flashlight only reveals your position which makes it difficult for fresh spawns..
  2. Definitely. I think it should require a lot of teamwork too. The end game model of the Standalone should take the conception that we could rebuild 'civilization' with these houses/bases
  3. You guys missed the first 2 lines of words of why it'd be good. ^^
  4. I also added an idea about being able to watch what you cook so you can avoid undercooking/overcooking items. This could indicate by hearing sizzling, seeing it charred on the outside or even seeing black smoke.
  5. We should also have an option to set up traps around areas, particularly around shelters and camps so no intruders would come through and scavenge items. (Suggested in my Hunting Ideas which could be found in OP) I'd also like to see a method that zombies shouldn't stand in place to strike an attack. Should be able to move and attack at the same time or even tackle/grapple players.

    Communication/NPCS

    Radios do have a tactical advantage such as recording text/audio depending where it's placed. Even in vehicles. Cell phones would be kinda cool. Something like where you could add someone's identity to your 'contacts' on a cell phone and could submit text/calls to people. It should be a basic flip-phone :)

    What about scope/lens reflection?

    A lot of military based weapons have scopes that prevent glint glare. I think it should only happen to certain scopes and how you'd maintain them BF3's glint is quite bad. Such as it happens at night, inside buildings and such. :P

  9. I have removed the NPC soldiers concept since it's already been confirmed by Rocket that other NPC's won't be available other than zombies :) I really think that the zombies should definitely play a larger role in both the mod and Standalone.

  11. I didn't say you did. Just said that's what it'd eliminate. Proofreading helps :) Roleplaying game and RPG is the same thing. That's what the abbreviation stands for man :) How about something like an ID card in your wallet. Not only does this eliminate player ID's hovering over characters in DayZ, it also adds realism to the fact that when you study a body, you can find the person's name, title(could be a past occupation) age(if possible to use for Standalone) and other details that could be present in an ID card.     Hero and bandit leveling.

    This whole topic seems to be a big debate and is hard to decide whether having perks is a good idea or not. I believe the humanity could improve better such as self defense but let's not give gifts to players for doing good/bad deeds. It should at least indicate the visual differences between players such as scars on a bandit and for heroes; well I'm a bit stumped on that one. Need some ideas.
  13. DayZ is simply about it being player driven and doing things on your own knowledge. This eliminates several things like specialties, perks(not skill based) and so on. DayZ sticks to the motto of you making your own story. The only thing that's for the past is how the virus even happened in the first place with notes/evidence lying around.

    Car radio and radio station

    I think it'd be a good idea for people to participate in things like this to enhance the gameplay in some way along with giving them goals instead of DayZ not having a true objective except to survive. Other than that, what could we achieve with a radio station? Entertainment? Could be side tracked with players listening to their own music Backstory? Maybe Restoring power for a radio station would require more than just a generator..
  15. With these challenges, please eliminate zombies being able to climb ladders, open doors and swimming please! Great ideas :)

    ANOTHER SOUND THREAD

    it's been confirmed that the Standalone will be changing out how the weapons will be. Not all weapons will be released in the initial alpha due to them being reworked then being released through game updates when they're ready.

    It's already been confirmed that there would be more zombie models and even female/children zombies alike.

    Lonewolf game mode

    I don't think DayZ would ever have a concept of having game modes. Why? It's just that I see this as more of a survival aspect than something that we would expect from typical multiplayer games. I think the way we should counter off game modes is having little mini-games such as playing a deck of cards with your buddies or even something like fishing/hunting together while at the same time, worrying about zombies/murderers alike as a possible threat :)

    DayZ Tournaments (win cash & Prizes)

    I think a tournament would be a good concept but I'd rather refer it as a contest. To restrict people from going out of bounds, the map could be customized with high walls to prevent people from getting out of the 'Survival Area' This survival area could have.. Medium-Large playground with a dense count of zombies that are more aggressive than usual. Friendly/bandit players would be a factor as well. Survival should be key. Longest you survive from either a zombie or player, should be accounted as the winner. Start off with no weapons since melee combat is confirmed. Crafting your own weapons should be considered. Surrounding the high walls, there could be towers in each corner of the play field which the players in these towers could fire off a few shots to attract zombies and make them charge to the nearest player into the direction of where the shots are coming from for an extra challenge. I do believe this should be the very least of the DayZ community's concern. I'm just sharing an idea if this does come to interest to the official developers as well.
  23. I have a question about this. What if a player would use a controller for DayZ Standalone and how would that person hold a button down?
  24. I think the only game I know of who does combat timers right is Runescape. It should be at least 10 seconds after combat to log off. I also think the symbol should be different than a glock. I don't like it. It should be a clock. The clock will be completely red and the green color will change clockwise to a complete green color to let you log off. This way you know when to log out instead of a flashing red pistol
  25. I noticed there has been birds flying around pretty often in Chernarus and able to shoot them. What if we could gut their meat and use it for food as well? Each animal should come with some type of disease from their bacteria since most wild animals are dirty. Eating it raw would be potentially fatal or get you very sick. More techniques include Falconry and using dogs for hunting would be great too :)
