I just wonder what we can expect with character customization? It hasn't really been described all that much. Will it even be available in SA? -
Like I said, DayZ without zombies is basically a life simulator. You eat, drink, walk around, commit murders/crimes. Like Gews used my joke reference, it'd be called "Day".
-
I understand. Thanks for clarifying in details that won't expose the feature too much :)

I have a question, how is fishing going to work in DayZ? I seen some footage in the arma 2's city life and how players hold and "animate" the fishing techniques is terrible.

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
TIC replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, can't really call it DayZ at that point when all those are available to the players. Makes me wish some people would play ARMA 2 if it will only promote player vs player with all the things available at their disposal :P -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
TIC replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I personally like having 1st person over 3rd. It makes you feel more "inside" your character or should I say a more immersive feel to the field play. I just would like to see more interactions in first person like having an ability to hold a mirror if you can find one ---Perfect for Occulus Rift--- so you can see your back side in case you get injured. Another alternative is opening up the menu where you can see your inventory and have an option to rotate the player model to see where the player's been hit instead. 3rd person is generally present in MMO games that boast large maps/features to the table. It gives players more of an interaction to the game to see what's going on around that person instead of one perspective. 3rd person gives you multiple angles and is great for recording footage. -
Have you tried Ramdisk? It helps for some, not so much for others. It's a slight increase for me, nothing too significant. Try changing your resolution as well like changing it to 'Windowed' as you can adjust whether size you want, just make it slightly smaller and if you use a black background, this could help greatly. Changing servers could also help too. Generally I find the BMRF servers great for performance. RAMDISK: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkdp07a9Doc

Basically all zombies are walking types unless they see you but I do get what you're saying.. What if these Walking-Only Zombies were able to see players a bit more easier than the ones that are able to run and could possibly make a screech which could attract other zombies? Makes them more of a threat, even though players could evade easier, more zombies could become attracted.Walking zombies are more likely to knock players down, don't make them hit any harder.

idea for more secret stash places for hide loot
TIC replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The problem with digging holes is that it'd lead to an disadvantage where if a player were to die, they could easily come back to where they hid that stash spot and retrieve it back. Even if there would be an indication(dirt pile, bags, etc) there isn't enough players that navigate in the whole Chernarus location like forests unless if the player died, the hole would disappear permanently. The brick idea seems too intricate for the ARMA 2 engine to do. Tents are the best way to go about this for inventory storage as it blends into environments, it's about where you place them. There's about 225km of map space (Islands as well) for players to place these tents -

How hard would it be for walker zombies?!!
TIC replied to BlackDalia's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd like that. These walking zombies would have more of an ability of spotting survivors running around and would attract the running types which could make the walking types more of a threat. -
[Machinima Series] Infection: Z *Episode 3 Now Live!*
TIC replied to CodyMurray's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Take your time :) It's actually the only machinima I been waiting on lately -
Hey guys, TIC here and I have been researching on ways to improve the mods playability in expanding interactions for overall gameplay experience. Reminder; this is for the possibility of being integrated over to the DayZ mod. Shooting Out of Vehicles(Littlebird in particular; not sure if other vehicles are supported) Thanks to Dslyecxi (who is also credited for the new Bunny Hop animation/movements in the upcoming DayZ mod update.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlN99dqNKy0 Purpose; Adds more defensive capabilities when it comes to zombies/survivors trying to kill you or your friends; especially Huey helicopters chasing you.Increases chances of survival on very dangerous passenger areas with no cover available. Car Alarms Thanks to SUICIDAL Purpose; When a vehicle is active with an alarm, it can be left alone and if a zombie bumps into it for example; it'd attract more in one area. (other examples will be included upon request)Prevents possible survivors trying to steal vehicles if the owner is around the proximity of the vehicle. What do you guys think of these ideas?

DayZ Mod Suggestion; Car-Alarms, shooting out of vehicles(Video Provided)

Especially in those car chases when that person doesn't give up going after you :P -
As long as there's no healing function but instead some supplies to take.

Your Opinion on Dayz Standalone Progress So Far (Gamescom)
TIC replied to shadowboxer (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree. The general reason that players kill others is to scavenge items for easier convenience to retrieve them instead of finding them. This is my guess on why Rocket has proposed that when you shoot at someone who has the equipment, it damages it (Clothing, items inside clothes, etc) so it kinda defeats the purpose of banditry unless you just simply want to commit murder. I'm really glad they gone through that route of immersion into that depth so it changes the playing field on survival instead of pointing and shooting. Thoughts on Gamescom Rocket has addressed issues and took that upon our attention for us to review before he sells a product; great information :)Standalone's progress has been looking good into working on such small details for a small development team.Really enjoyed how dynamic the environment is and how it affects us more along with the inventory system.Rocket seems more confident at Gamescom about the alpha which is a great sign of how the progress is in the future. Conclusion: The game should take it's course and work onto the moderate-to-important details then work on the small things and classify it as tech bugs to fix up later on since it's using the Minecraft model which represents the information very clearly(As an Alpha) -
How do you want the Kill Feed to be in DayZ SA?
TIC replied to LilBambi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with no kill feed. It breaks the immersion to see a message that says "Bob was killed by (weapon/zombie)" instead of investigating what happened yourself.. I think this is the reason why you are able to detect where exactly where wounds come from around body parts to distinguish easier on what happened to that person when you encounter it and without having context to say someone has died is like watching the news about a murder. -

It's too bad this month is almost over, I hope there'll be more DayZDaily soon after. All what I'm looking forward to with all this progress is the Networking Bubble and some extra content to the zombies -
Greatest weapon ever.. Even destroys vehicles in a couple swipes.

More pew pew and less Q Q

No matter what, don't lose your sight with your surroundings whether if it were a zombie in a building you're about to go into or just someone trying to snipe you out in the distance. Take advantage of your surroundings like cover, staying hidden and gather what you can to survive. After you gathered your basic survival equipment like a hunting knife, hatchet and matches you can go out hunting in areas like Kamenka on the hillside where there are a lot of animals then you'd want to travel to the nearest market that isn't occupied with a lot of people then the hospital. After all that, you might be lucky to run into a vehicle and start driving around but be aware of how loud/noticeable you are.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03Mpxtl4Rdg Kudos to Mrvg247 Bonus: When the Network Bubble is enabled for DayZ Standalone, the game will go through alpha and might make a possible release but a timeframe is still unknown.
-
Haha yeah they're too quick for me :P Least it's in a different category where people can watch it :P It looks very amazing. Not exaggerating but for a pre-alpha, I was amazed.

Because everyone knows DayZ is capable of being a run and gun arcade shooter.. -
Is there a way to take these "creations/recipes" from other survivors if they are dead?
