  1. Could go both ways but by experience, I could somewhat agree with this. I wouldn't get my hopes up with the good news.
  2. I wonder at what rate is the Standalone complete for an alpha release.. Like in the percentages. I feel it's an 80% out of 100 if I were to guess.

    Vehicle Suggestion.

I never knew DayZ was an environmentally friendly mod.
  4. As of now, trees do create FPS drop for low-end PC's. If I were to see this becoming a part, then it should be available as an option in the graphics settings. I'd definitely like to see trees that flourished.

    DayZ Mod 1.8 Update

Now we just need one thing fixed. Body Temperature. For the most part, it's always on Red Hot. Will we be seeing some tweaks on this? I'd like to get cold from raining weather easier and get an illness from that as well or even getting thirsty faster if you get too hot.
  6. For many reasons, I do like having an option on disabling side chat function. One of them mainly is it ruins immersion with a wall of text of excessive trolling/flaming and constant asking of "Anyone in (Insert town here)" becomes quite annoying.
  7. Aside from the unnecessary bashing, it's good to know at least some progress has been done. Just haven't heard too much about it.
  8. Any word about the progress on the Network Architecture?

    1.8 Makes Melee Nearly Pointless

    DayZ 1.8 Feedback

I have a few problems with the hotkey function such as it not being really responsive or does the wrong option (such as 2 on the keyboard switches to all 3 weapons; melee, primary, sidearm)There seems to be way too much food lying around but makes up for the difficulty of zombies I suppose.Crowbar needs more functions such as being able to reopen a bear trap(hard to pry open by hand in reality) or prying out nails out of the Nailed Bat ;)Cooking item like a frying pan to be able to cook on instead in a fire place. After I downloaded the update, I noticed a big increase in performance. Overall; the mod has became a lot more entertaining with those new features in place. 10/10. Thanks DayZ Team :)

    Kat Banned

Apparently it's a message you get when you are banned from a server I believe..
  12. Those release dates are just ridiculous. I'm just glad they're taking the time to do it right instead of having an annually game release like other franchises do. With more programmers they've hired, I'm sure there'll be extra content while the Architecture is being worked on.

    HIRING DEVS!

Probably better on another topic thread :)
  14. Hey guys, TIC here and I'd like to see something particularly interesting to some people or not that could involve with the clothes that our characters wear in the Standalone. I was thinking more of a line of stains that could make us stand out more unique and along the lines, how it can affect our well-being. I hope I didn't go too in-depth with this ;) Effects of dirty clothes (Comparison Image here: http://dayz-survivor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Degrading.jpg) Could inflict our characters to get skin rashes(which could appear red in certain areas) and could be treated easily as for you wearing the clothes longer; could impose more of a serious threat into skin infections into illnesses since dirty clothes have microorganisms.Body odor could increase more and more which could lead to flies buzzing around you which could attract survivors and zombies in a certain proximity along with scaring animals away with their senses. Clothing that's considered to have this effect FOOTWEAR(includes socks, shoes, etc) which is where bacterial growth can occur since it's dark, warm and moist from physical actions(walking, running) which can lead to discomforts such as athletes foot(also known as Tinea). UNDERGARMENTS(briefs for unisex) Doesn't need an explanation as if I were to explain the same reason again, it'd be repetitive :P HEADGEAR/HANDWEAR I have no idea how headwear hygiene can work against our health but I'll have to research that and add it on later. For handwear such as gloves which could create problems when we come in contact with objects such as food and weapons and can contaminate them with diseases. Solution; we can take our shoes off for some time and use disinfectant spray inside our shoes and possibly socks if it were to work. WET CLOTHING if survivors choose not to dry them could also promote mold growth (which can appear as white dots on clothes if it's serious) and can include a very foul smell. Solution; This is practically known that we can dry our clothes in many methods such as hanging them somewhere that is warm and dry (Improved Temperatures confirmed from Rocket; forgot where though.) Survivors can also leave clothes on the ground which can slowly increase the amount of dirt and other possible pathogens that get into it. Ways to clean clothes Survivors can do laundry by rinsing their clothes in a lake or pond depending on the quality of that water source and how it can affect it for drinking quality. Some stains are harder to get out than others(especially blood) so maybe some extra bleach to find wouldn't hurt. (Bleach could also be used for other crafting methods)If possible to use a generator, we could have an operating washer/dryer which could be a lot easier and at the same time, very energy consuming.Depending on the temperature of water(Can boil or let it cool), it could affect stains on clothes. Methods can include using a washboard, a table and a scrubber with bristles or others that I haven't listed.
  15. I know a couple of my friends who are like that as well. Most of them think of it as "I don't believe it until I see it" All I can say is remind them about the special features that a lot of people posted on this topic and when the time comes, you can somehow link them some actual gameplay footage and from there, that'll encourage them to come play with you. Just remember, The DayZ Standalone will be starting off as an ALPHA PHASE. Which is a project still undergoing some work.
  16. That's already been confirmed where clothing goes through each state after it's been damaged. This applies to all clothing worn by players
  17. I was never too fond of an idea of having to spawn with your friends. The fact of being washed up on shore describes more of a story individually and that's what gives out the experience much better for each person.

Character's Traits Improve As They Get Older

I like this idea very much. I'd like to add to the immunity to diseases could also contribute on how good your diet is such as drinking enough water over the course of your survival or eating properly along with not being so dependent on medications to cure it. If someone were to treat this without medicine, will more likely to recover a lot easier without the aide of medicine. My Contribution Often when your character is barefoot, it strengthens muscles to improve stability and overall performance to your feet. (Watch out for sharp objects!) But the problem is, you have to start off very slowly to develop this type of trait which varies on the time where your feet have to deal with those conditions With facial hair growing being a feature Rocket had talked about, I'd like to see an ability that your character can grow their hair out over time. This gives us an ability of personalizatiion over time depending how long those people have survived for; it encourages others to try to survive a longer time.

SA base building like epoch mod

I believe Construction was already confirmed as an end game feature. It won't appear until after the whole vehicles are done with possibly
  20. I hear the 1.8 version is quite buggy at the moment. Issues such as Zombies hitting you at ranges farther than usual.Melee weapon disappears if you click on hot key.Free fish when fishing, giving you an extra piece.Dead bodies appearing in oceans. In regards of zombies going through walls; that won't be fixed. It's an ARMA 2 related issue. DayZ 1.8 Feedback from Test Server Test Server with Instructions I recommend waiting until it releases on Commander. I'm sure the version is being reviewed and being tidied for fixes.

    automatically starts on windowed mod.

Check your ARMA 2.cfg file in your documents(Windows OS). It should say Windowed=0 if you want it to be full screen. Windowed=1 enables it.
  22. Hey guys, TIC here and I wanted to make a couple of quick suggestions on something I noticed lately and that's people posting on older topics. Older topics will auto-lock/delete after a duration it's been up; say a month. This also depends on the popularity on the topic so it might/might not close depending on post count/popularity(constructive, not spams which then could be analyzed by moderators)Some type of feature where people are typing a "Topic Title"; it'd say "Do you mean this?" And it'd show another thread with something similar to the one that person is about to create. This would eliminate seeing something similar and could organize it much easier. If these are not possible, then I'm OK with that. This could be used as a reference in the future. :)

    DayZ Forum suggestions

I agree. This is why my solution I suggested would eliminate that problem(Suggestion 1) so that when topics are long overdue and doesn't reached the requirements such as how popular it was or the amount of posts that it has reached if those posts were constructive, then it'd either be kept or automatically removed. I do understand that topics could be used as an reference but what I was thinking instead is if those outdated topics could be moved to the graveyard.

    Night and forest

The thing I have wanted to see at night for DayZ is.. Fireflies to illuminate an area out the field.Ambience such as owls, crickets, wolf howls, etc.Possibility of seeing shooting stars in the night sky.Moon/weather patterns affects behavior of animals at night, including fish when it comes to fishing.

I'd give all my beans up to support that foundation ;)
