    Under 100K active players

Hackers are fairly annoying but its probably also a lack of endgame - not much beyond looting and shooting.

    New Endgame Content

Maybe not spawning waves of zombies but I would love to see some more endgame cooperation being encouraged, maybe players can take back a town by clearing out zombies, building fortifications and restoring infastructure like repairing power generators to make floodlights work. No idea how that would work - would need to be guarded 24/7 against a takeover
  3. Whenever we have had a new players start DayZ we always tell them regardless of where they spawn to make for Berezino for all the reasons the OP has listed - guns, supplies and equipment without any of the usual PvP drawbacks Usually we avoid the military camp as its very open and seems to be where the occasional sniper will setup to cover - plus the look has never been that good either

    Rocket: Losing faith.

And how many people are actually doing this in the grand scheme of things? Is it the case of 49 other playes on a server running around with such weapons

    Rocket: Losing faith.

Gotta love the sense of entitlement some people have – we are not owed Rockets undivided attention and time. Why is Rocket not entitled to go to conventions to raise Dayz profile and his own while spending a little time enjoying the fruits of his labour, he is after all human and I think he has earned it? Also is the game unplayable, is DayZ properly broken by tents not working? If not then really is slagging off the creator of this mod really necessary, if you don’t like it then you can choose to walk away from the game and play something else. That’s how this works, it’s not like Rockets going to read these posts and think “Crap, I never realised how bad it was – let’s blow off gamescom and go fix tents guys”

    Why Kill on Sight?

For some people its the fear, being scared of losing their stuff if they trust a random person That and theres some proper bastards out there

    Gamescom - Aug 2012 - Interviews

Hi Everyone, I represent and contribute to the GameOverCast, we are an enthusiast video game podcast who do a show every week. We went to Gamescom last month and were lucky enough to interview Rocket after our ARMA3 interview, it was one of the most fun interviews we did over the week as compared to the formality of many interviews we did with PR reps ever present to jump in to correct something this was a refreshing change to just informally sit down and see where the discussion went as we discussed DayZ and just generally chatted. You can find the podcast either on our website Gameovercast 108 or on ITUNES ; the interview starts about 1 hour and 5 minutes in. Thanks for Listening Major Tom

For info on the rest of the episode, we also talk about games we have been recently playing such as Guild wars 2, Sleeping Dogs, World of Warplanes and Diablo 3. On top of the great chat we had with Rocket we also have this week interviews with the developers for Hitman Absolution, Company of Heroes 2 and XCOM Enemy Unknown! Noob question (bandit time)

Its a shame if they just remove the bandit skin entirely so we all look the same but if they remove it to allow for more customisation that would be nice, perhaps tied into the new temperature issue like finding army fatigues, jumpers or coats

    DayZ Stories

Sadly no brownie points, just shrugged and went to do her own thing :@ In hindsight yes would have been better to disconnect but as I was lying down on the edge of town in some grass so the guy must have literally ran over me to have seen me.

    Life is not valuable now?

Server jumping for loot just seems like a sad idea, breaks the immersion to not find this stuff as you progress. Life might not be valuable to begin with but after finding some semi-decent gear I became incredibly cautious and dying lost me all that hard work, such is life I guess. There’s a difference between finding a Lee Enfield in every other farmhouse and having plenty of food, water, a full set of survival gear and an M16 with acog scope and plenty of ammo that you could potentially lose at any moment due to carelessness and would take a long time to fully replace.

    Temperature

I like the idea, especially about finding shelter when it rains but having just respawned on the coast and searching for wood and matches fruitlessly in two towns it felt like I had a countdown timer which will just make me careless in towns to save time.

    DayZ Stories

I was exploring near the NW airfield with my 3 day character, found myself a shiny new M16 with ACOG sight and plenty of food, ammo and other supplies. Was feeling pretty good My girlfiend then somehow locked herself out of the house when taking out the recycling, I ran down to let her in and when I got back found my character bleeding out from being shot by a wandering bandit. Hours of playtime lost in 30 seconds :(
