Am I unlucky or do Admins just always hoard stuff?
Smacked replied to coltonlong's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The best I have ever found so far is a simple motorcycle, and that was only because I was stalking some guy on it that went into the firestation at the NW airfield so when he went inside and parked it I took it. -

Do you have what it takes to be on of the ELITE???

This looks so stupid. -
This is probably a more obvious question but still one i'm curious about. Little backstory, Logged on in smaller forest area south of Stary Sobor, so first thing I do is look at my gear or whatever then, then suddenly right next to me, a puff of smoke rises up. But I didn't hear any shots. I knew I was being shot by a sniper or something at so I zig-zaged through the forest until I figured I was really close to Stary and based on the amount of turns, zig-zags and all that, I figured I must have lost the guy somewhat so I crouched right by a tree hidden by the branches just to do a quick check about where I am on the map when he finally hits me. (He must have shot at least 15 times as I was running along) I'm not mad or anything about dying but I couldn't really help wondering about how I didn't hear a single shot but still got hit from god knows where, and how he must have had some really high up vantage point. (I wouldn't say i'm a noob, just very unfamilar about high-end guns.) (excuse the worst drawing in the world, but to give some sort of idea of where I was and what route I just threw that in there)

The Winchester 1866 should, realistically, have a MUCH longer reload time

This is all about realism, I'm for it. -
Heavy penalties for disconnecting during firefights.

This really does need to be fixed...but..not to be a downer on your idea but any sort of "list" would really be pretty pointless, as most player names are their real life first name so there may be more than one "Bob" or "Joe". Second, the chance is just too low that someone will have seen this 'list', know its the person on the list, and be able to shoot him. I myself proposed an idea but is of course, not really going to be able to work due to accidental d/cs. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29952-solution-to-pvp-loggingalt-f4ing-etc/ -
A Noob's Tale. *In 1.7.1.5 So I got the game, after a long time trying to get it to work I finally spawned, without a single clue of what I was doing. I think I spawned in Kamenka, or a village that is directly right of Elektro. I do what I figure anyone would start out with doing. I crouch walk/run around looking for loot, only to be greatly dissapointed that only 1 place in the whole town was enterable. I eventually just start running along some tracks with a zombie chasing me and stop to climb up a small little lighttower along the coast with the zombie underneath me walking around. I try and climb down after a while, run up some hills, then, being bored with not finding anything, convince a player I saw to axe me to death. (Technically my first player contact and I didn't know about the respawn thing) Then I convince my friend to get on Skype and play with me. After hours of barely making any progess of getting to eachother we finally, barely, somehow meet up at some stupid, worthless village and run into the hills for a solid hour, without finding anything. (We were complete noobs). We eventually die and he quits. I keep going for a little while. Next day, I'm in Elektro with a fresh life, waiting for my friend to get on. I look at the online map a few times and go to the church and supermarket. Manage to find a double-barrel and makarov and alice pack along with basic survival tools. (matches hatchet etc etc) I get tired of waiting for him and get off for 2 hours and naturally a minute after I get off, he gets on. He manages to find an AKM with a few mags, basic stuff etc. I log on, and we finally manage to meet near some factory buildings at northern Cherno. We quickly run into the hills when he announces he has to go at a pretty early hour. But since this is the first time we managed to get together, have decent gear and are in a somewhat safe location I agree to not keep playing and get myself killed. Next Day.. Both log on, head North.and get incredibly paranoid due to us being noobs and the damn music being up so high. ( We also thought we had really good gear. Not!) We make our way up to Devils Castle and loot it without much luck. After hearing so much about the damn NW Airfield I figured I'd give it a go so we slowly head up there.By slow, I mean constantly looking through binocs up at the castle and looking behind us. We were crazy paranoid. We start going up from the barracks side and while hear some shots. Us, being the pussies that we *WERE* we immediatly run in the opposite direction and log off for about 10 minutes, out heartrates high. After the half panic attack type thing, my friend leaves till tomorrow. I want to play some more so I hop back on regardless of his protests. Airfield. I go into the airfield. Barracks->Hangars-> Control Tower -> Firestation. All in all make some decent loot and logout for a small bit in the top part of the firestation. Log back in about 30 minutes later in a different server and at the bottom level, poof, a Dirt Bike! This being my first vehicle I throw caution to the wind and get on it. It had about 2 bars of fuel. Maybe less. I go for a bit of a joyride all around the airfield but in the process get down to 2,300 blood. Not seeing for crap I am able to somewhat successfully hide it in a bush in a forest a little ways from the airfield. Next day I log on and.. find that the Dirt Bike is still there thankfully and get my reluctant friend to get on for a few minutes to try and give me a blood transfusion. He agrees and I race over to the airfield, barely seeing anything due to the low blood level. I zoom past the firestation which he is in and do a few circle runs. Due to bad communication, him not being interested, me having a headache and being annoyed at him slightly(and with the poor flashing white screen vision) I end up running him over. He plain out didnt give a fuck and said "oh man you ran me over. oh well." He gets off shortly after and goes on to play some other game. By this point I have half the airfield zombies on me, a low amount of fuel, and a yellow tire. I get off the Dirt Bike and run into the control tower. and log off. (Im pretty annoyed because I didnt get the blood transfusion) I log back on a few minutes later to loot my friends body. Luckily he had a few steaks and the blinking white screen stops. I gave up on the Dirt Bike due to the low tire and run off the Airfield. After a few hours of taking damage and looking for food I end up on the far side of the map with blinking red food and drink and a mere 2,500 blood. Due to the food and drink I simply sprint into the next town I am able to find and kill everything I see. Not a single can of drink or food. I got at least 30 zombie kills and all they had were bandages. I pretty much gave up at that point and decided to just end this and die.

Expanding from my last post you could take literally everything you have, pack it up into a Ural or whatever, go into the middle or close to middle of Cherno, and set up a big defensive position with sandbags and barbwire and hold out until you die/get overwhelmed. Or if you want to be a little bit more crazy, sprint around Cherno whilst holding chemlights and play 'Yakety Sax' music via direct chat and go until you get shot. Or something like that.

The fact that this thread has gotten this far is one of the more sad things I've seen on this forum. -
After watching so many videos, reading about it so many times, and having it happen to me(I may have done it once or twice to be fair) I got sick of people simply "alt f4ing" to get out of hot situations. I started to think about how to stop this annoying aspect of the game. While it may have flaws I haven't really thought about, it could be a temporary fix to this lameness. 1. Make it so that whenever you are logging out, don't make it instant. Make the player go into a certain pose/position and have a countdown timer of say, 20-30 seconds in which they cannot do anything besides maybe, look around. This would be a bit of a block (but not stopper) for some server hoppers so they can't rapidly server hop. This would also eliminate people from say, running into a town straight to the high value loot places whilst aggroing every zombie in the town, simply disconnect then reconnect into the same server and be safe and sound inside the loot place with all the zombies gone and the player able to get all the loot. 2. If your game suddenly closes (alt+f4) your player stays in the game for a minute or more. So now if you are being shot at and if you suddenly alt+f4 your character would stay in game and would still be standing there allowing your player character to be killed, looted, etc. If this was to be implemented it would give all players a fair chance to get their well deserved loot and player kill. For the #2 there is an obvious problem of people's games crashing and being forced to die even though they were infact playing the game legit. Have a reasonable day.

That could work.

Unless Rocket somehow made it so that the system recognizes a crash/glitch of some sort and an actual alt+f4.

Pack up all of your best gear inside your ATVs and drive around the streets of Cherno or go on some sort of reckless killing spree, again, with all of your best gear in your inventory on a high population server. Then have fun restarting :D
