  1. Thanks for the heads up dude.
  2. I know vehicles are admins special pets, and they think because they pay fees they get the perks, but it's becoming some serious game-breaking shit. I just chased a bus all the way round the NW airstrip... anticlockwise. Cover, crouching, watching, waiting. I finally catch up with them at the North Barracks. I crawl in, lose my zombie tail, and take position. Bang. I shoot the tyre, driver is confused and still trying to drive as before. Bang Bang Bang I shoot him in the back of the head and relocate. I wait. Thirty seconds pass, then an AKSU chatters - another two deaths. I wait for the victor to approach the bus. Man I've been hunting for hours to get a better backpack and take my cache of guns to the bean noobs on the coast. It's coming. The stress is still on. The gamble is yet to pay off. I hold my position, covering only my exposed flank and waiting for the last man through the corner of my eye. Session lost. OK. NO IT'S NOT OK FUUUUCK! This shit needs to stop, it's endemic.

Tell me your stories of the M136!

I shot the north barracks wall with it. It made an impressive noise and no damage. Sux brah.
  4. LU93 We were at our airfield, playing zombie grenade fetch. You heard us; thought we were an easy target. You drove your ute right to the perimeter wall. Your buddy, Angel Delight, didn't quite take cover. Angel Delight caught 750 grains of lead. Center mass. Your ute on fire; block split. We moved in. You restarted the server, wiping the loot that was rightfully ours. We waited. We re-entered. We requisitioned your magically repaired ute. You had relocated in the downtime. You shot our driver with a silenced automatic. You aimed poorly. We raced to provide aid. You shut the server down for the night. We'll be waiting. Your shit is ours.
  5. OP the devs change the loot spawn rates quite often. Last week you couldn't walk into an industrial building without finding axes in every corner. This week not a bloody axe to be found. I think it's really difficult to hit the sweet spot, but they're homing in pretty well already. In context of the game; Cheno is packed full of military installations. I'm half surprised there isn't an AK in every cabin.
  6. I propose that the regular server setting (those that give away player locations on mouseover) be renamed in server description. Rather than having regular in the server name have "PvP" or "Bandits". Something to give the first day newbies a fighting chance of not being sniped in their first two hours. New players are joining the game thinking that 'Regular' means easy. This is so far from the truth it's not funny. This needs to be fixed somehow, and sooner rather than later. I edited my post to clarify the suggestion, apologies if some of the posts below now seem incoherent.
  7. Quaby have you tried accessories? Sunglasses are pretty easy to see, or camo faces whatever.
  8. I either have 'vet' in my filter or the number of a particular server. I avoid reg servers like the plague. I really dislike people having instant range finders and see me through mountain hacks. New players beware is all

    Hackers are ruining the game

It's the way of the PC, don't let it get to you.

    Hackers are ruining the game

At the moment it's a real problem. I almost never die to hackers, debug plains guys have got me a few times though. What I do is join the server and wait in the lobby - if there's no obvious hacker killspam I join. Anything happens out of the ordinary (crazy sounds, teleport, obvious deathspam/screaming, realise I'm shooting at an apache) I go straight away and hit escape followed by Alt-F4. (Interested to see how this plays out over the next patch) The reasoning behind this is simply that my save state is currently not recorded, so my character effectively rolls back. You have to be quick to beat the save on death or next scheduled autosave. And yes you're damn right I Alt-F4 if I spot a hacker.
  11. Rogan (DayZ)

Suggestion of using VAC ban for hackers.

VAC bans are deferred, which makes them unfit for a game like this with permadeath. What you want to do is ban hackers as quickly as possible. Using VAC a hacker could quite easily kill thousands of characters before they were removed from play.

[VIDEO] Shooting unarmed people has consequences

    That was classic.

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

Simple to fix with a logarithmic scale.
  14. Regular does not mean easy. Regular means the game spots players for you, through objects. It makes you stupidly easy to hunt. I PvP and NEVER join Regular, because regular is easy mode for bandits. Put 'vet' in your server filter and everything will be a lot less painful.
  15. Same as Draco, but I also use 3rd person to corner peep during engagements.

    Headlamps

    Solid idea.
  17. You're completely ignoring my point. My point is not removing mouseover. My point is that Mouseover is on regular. The way servers are reporting themselves is putting complete newbies into servers filled with people using mouseover for PvP. The setting is not the issue. The issue - NEW PLAYERS GETTING FUCKED - is the issue. You click middlemouse and scan. I avoid mouseover, so I couldn't really say.
  18. This is fair there are a lot of easy kills in Dayz. Chenarus is a very dangerous place, and all new players need to learn to use the environment. What many PvE proponents miss is that they are playing the game badly. If a carebear wants to survive in this game they have to be smart, use your binoculars, choose your loot locations carefully, use the map and anticipate the likelyhood of encounters. It's the bandit element which gives PvE types a real challenge, because otherwise you're just playing zombie grabass. There is little challenge to the zombie AI. The first time I realised the zombies were easy to outmanoeuvre, it was ably demonstrated by some Enfield douche running around the town of Electro with impunity. It turns out, when you know how to herd them, that the zombies are zero challenge. Having a gunfight in a town filled with zombies... considerably more interesting. Does that mean I kill a new spawn without a pistol? Depends if I want his bandages and painkillers. But that's not the game I'm playing ATM, I'm survivor hunting. I want your fat loot, and given half the chance I'm going to take it from your bloody corpse. No hard feelings. It's about beans, you have them and I want them. NVG and GPS... even better. If in the course of that I get to have an amazing firefight with another well equipped bandit force, or hand out pistols to new spawns, then so much the better. I can respawn and find a hatchet like everyone else.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

It would be nice if this was automatically handled by the game, the lower mechanic is too clumsy for this particular use.
  22. Things do not 'degrade' IRL. They may require cleaning and maintainance, but they don't degrade. Realistic maintenance for weapons, power for electronic devices etc, would be authentic - unreversable deterioration from proper use would be completely unrealistic. A set of NVGs will not 'degrade', nor would a GPS. They might get scratched, worn or dirty but degrade - no. You use your mobile phone daily, scratch it, drop it, abuse it - does it degrade? No it's either working or broken, and if it's broken it's because you did something specific that the phone was not designed to handle.
