I've been using my original list ever since I released it, and it kicks people regularly. If someone joins with a banned weapon, they can still use it often for a few minutes before being kicked, though. That's because dayzPlayerSave, the main thing it detects, only happens every few minutes. The whitelist for addmagazinecargo.txt is totally experimental, and as I said, I wasn't sure if it was working. -

Yeah. I hadn't really looked into the addmagazinecargo thing that extensively. I did notice I wasn't seeing kicks for it yet, but I also hadn't seen hacked weapons. I had assumed that since the log entry contained the quotes that the list would work as-is. Thanks for testing. Your solution of using the whitelist sounds good, but I wonder if there might be a limit to the size of a rule. I guess we could start by logging it with 1 "". Anyway, again, if someone can show me an example of such a thing happening, I'll remove them. I'll review my logs more carefully as well to check for the same. EDIT: As a test, I searched for "Cow, "Hen", and "Rabbit" (including the quotes where indictated), in my four largest publicvariable.log files for the last month, and didn't find anything, and I have 1 "" in my publicvariableval.txt, so I log everything. I therefore will not be removing these things. -

It's not like I made some decision to start including animals. They just started showing up for some players on recent scans I've made of my RPT files. If you can show me an example of a player getting kicked wrongly due to such a publicvariableval detection, I'll remove them. Now that I think of it, though, these could be the skin of the player that was detected, since my script counts the skin the player is wearing as inventory, even though it's technically not, as in Soldier1_DZ (not a real item, but more the name of the character's model/skin). -

I already use it in my addmagazinecargo.txt as of the last couple days, but I just hadn't gotten around to saying something here. There's really nothing to expand, though. The exact same list works tacked onto the end of addmagazinecargo.txt. I've never seen any bad items in addbackpackcargo.txt though. EDIT: This was later found to not be true. I incorrectly didn't consider the effects of the double-quotes, since I saw the double-quotes in the logs, and for some reason thought the filter compared against the whole addmagazinecargo entry. -

Updated my filter again. I just wanted to re-do it but with a more accurate count for the L85. Now they're only counted starting the day after they were removed from the game. Added: 20Rnd_B_AA12_HE Cow04 IR_Strobe_Marker Rabbit -
If your in-game name is Marmotz, then you're unbanned, and the script has been tweaked to avoid that particular false-positive.

Updated my filter. Added: BAF_L85A2_RIS_CWS Cow03 Dog1 Hen The detection counts include all L85 detections, legal or not. My script that does the counts would need some tweaking to make it not count the old, legal detections, so I haven't done that yet. If anyone knows of any other inventory item classnames that were added or removed with the new update, please let me know. As far as I could tell, only the BAF_L85A2_RIS_CWS was removed, and nothing was added. -
I temporarily made it not kick for that. I don't know why it's not happening to everyone else, but it's just due to incompatibility with old BattlEye filters and the new version, apparently.

It's far from being destroyed. It's just a pretty popular server. Hackers don't like being caught, and they love a challenge. I just try to stay as close to ahead of them as I can.

As of right now, the server is offline as I investigate. After I restarted the server to clear this last hack, someone joined and started actively manipulating my banlist, unbanning and banning GUIDs as they pleased. They also approached some players, told them they were hacking, and then banned them. For anyone who knows about DayZ server config, this entry from scripts.log should show you the severity of the situation: call compile ("temp1 = load" + "file (""US303\server_c74Cwmvf.cfg""); ");

Yep. Fixed: http://clansm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=3319 Same guy as last night, and he's now attacked me on at least 4 GUIDs.

Anyway, I verified that the hacker was indeed also banned. He's attacked me at least 3 times so far on different GUIDs. Good times.

Well sure, but if I made my script do that, it wouldn't even ban the original hacker. I'd rather ban everyone and let them play on other servers while I sort it out than not ban the hacker and let him run rampant.

Rammfisch: Fixed by now? This thread is from minutes ago. I only know about stuff in this forum when I get Google Alerts about it (hence the message in the MOTD about posting at clansm.net for fastest response). Anyway, a hacker caused this to happen. As I've gotten so good at catching what they do, they've figured the best plan is to cause others to run the same kind of code they do. They get banned, but so does everyone else in the server. I've been working with Dwarden and others in IRC to close the hole, but for now, it's going to keep happening. I prefer it over the alternative (everyone dying and losing their stuff). For now, those banned are unbanned, and I'm reviewing the logs frantically.

Due to a one-character typo in an anti-hack script I was editing, I accidentally banned everyone on my full server simultaneously. You aren't really banned. Sorry.

I banned Loganater and a bunch of others for some crazy item spam he did on 11-01 14:30-ish GMT+10. Due to all the crazy hacking, I've been a little burnt out on adminning, so I haven't been reviewing the logs as frequently. In the last couple hours, I finally discovered how to catch most of the new breed of hacks. His hacks weren't the otherwise undetectable kind, though.

I'm looking into it. EDIT: I don't see anything in particular regarding that specific problem, but as the first line of the server's Message of the Day says, for the last few weeks, a new crop of undetectable hacks have been wreaking havoc on the game in general. At the specific time you mention, the server was in the process of being attacked by one of these. I've been working with Dwarden and others in the official DayZ IRC channels to remedy the problem, and I believe I'm close to a solution as of about yesterday, but I haven't quite nailed it yet. I'm sorry, but hacking really sucks right now.
