  1. I believe 94876 is incompatible.
  2. We just found our first antibiotics on Day 7 and we've been to hospitals a lot. Rare is an accurate description. I'd try to play through it, don't give up because it's difficult, but stay away from your friends.
  3. Bull. The patches go out whenever they bloody want and Rocket can do whatever he pleases. What Steam does and how they market is not under their control. DayZ hasn't been advertised by DayZ staff as anything other than a mod very early in it's development. That you chose to pay for a game to be able to play the mod does not put ANY burden on Rocket or anyone else to provide stability or QA.
  4. So your plan was to not actually use the truck? And you wanted it why?
  5. Good, provides conflict. Vehicles should not be hoarded or monopolized, unless it is by sheer effort to continuously defend and reacquire them, not hiding it 15 miles off the map.
  6. Weapons are plentiful if you look in medium and high value buildings only. It's also very quick if you sprint to those buildings. If you sneak around some small town you spawned outside of that doesn't even have anything other than low value spawns, half of which are bugged doghouses, with thirteen zombies between each spawn... good luck with that.
  7. Neither Rocket nor anyone else can control what others do on a private server. All they can do is blacklist them from the hive they're not on in the first place. I didn't like the video because it wasn't funny or entertaining and it sold DayZ short. I can literally spend all day watching entertaining DayZ videos made by people who aren't even trying and yet somehow Yogscast manages to fail at it. If they'd actually played DayZ it probably would have been good. How entertaining would their Minecraft videos be if the whole time someone ran around killing everything for them, dropping off workbenches, swords and armor while teleporting them to nodes they need. /yawn

    Rocket's overall plan.

It's his project. He didn't ask you to play it or pay for it. If I decide to do something, and three months later 500k people want to be a part of, that doesn't sound to me like a reason for him to change his ways, it sounds like a reason to keep doing things as he has.
  9. I have a map, compass and watch. On my server it's showing on the map where I am. I don't see it showing anyone else, but it is definitely showing my current location. I do not have GPS. Is this supposed to be happening? If not is it a setting in the server somewhere?
  10. I understand, and I'm ok with it, but what I'm wondering is if this is allowed/normal or if it's a setting I *should* change or *need* to change to stay within the rules?
  11. Crash sites are so uncommon the chances someone else has found it and decided to wait around for hours hoping that someone else will also come along are rare. Of course this varies depending on how far off the beaten path they are and how populated the server is. The Barracks, on the other hand, are either the only place or the only place other than a helicopter that a lot of good weapons spawn. Two doors, you're going in one or the other. If someone's not there to get the loot themselves there's probably someone there waiting to kill those that are. It's not some place you go with everything you just spent 4 days acquiring, it's some place you hit with friends, carefully, when you've got a camp full of backup equipment somewhere. Either that or you do what I did and just man up and hit the place solo with everything you own and walk away with an M4 CCO, M14 AIM and M249 SAW.
  12. Really the easiest thing to do is full out sprint from one high/medium yield farm/residential to another until you find a gun, then kill anything still behind you. If you die, who cares, respawn and do it again. Once you have something worth caring about you can be more careful. You can start out careful, but it's slow, and you might aggro something anyway, at which point you're stuck running a marathon trying to lose it, only you just spent an hour trying to creep from one crap spawn to another instead of 5 minutes running.
  13. Yes. Find a group. Setup camps, work together. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, anyone else can loot the camp just as easily as you can. Finding the tents so you can get one to put down is kind of a pain.
  14. It's always a fresh start, but if you setup tents you can go back and loot them.
  15. I crawled for 3 hours straight to Berezino and into a hospital to get Morphine. This morning I hunted Sheep and Boar in the fields with 1800 blood until I was back up to 12k. Now if you had both of those at the same time, yeah that's a bit tricky. Blood bag won't do you any good alone, need a partner to use it on you. I'll PM you this evening, if you're still alive and not too ridiculously far away we'll try to help you.
  16. The first night my friend and I played in 1.7.1.5 we spent about 4 or 5 hours in the game and did nothing but die and run from zombies. Neither one of us found a single weapon the entire time. Most of the guides we could find were useless because they started off with the premise that you had a weapon. A day later we could move through cities easily without aggro and had no problem finding all kinds of supplies. We haven't died since and have collected everything from a GPS to an M249. Once you figure out the rules, it's a survival game with PvP. What you will learn is: 1. Avoiding and losing zombies is an art form, the icons on screen are nothing more than hints at best. Experience will give you intuition so you can get around without bringing them down on your head. 2. The closest landmark is displayed in the bottom right when you first spawn, it is very important to know where you are. 3. DayZDB.com is priceless. 4. Avoiding zombies in a small place like Balota while trying to move between spread out, low yield spawns unlikely to have what you need isn't worth the time and effort. 5. Medium and high yield farms and residential, especially in areas where they're isolated and not in the middle of a huge city so it's easier to avoid zombies, are a much better risk vs reward. 6. Never run unless you plan to lose or kill at least one zombie, because it's almost guaranteed one will hear you no matter how clear it looks. The only exception is forests and areas that have no zombies at all. If 1.7.2 is as bad as people make out, that's an added obstacle. It was hard in 1.7.1.5, if they're coming running at you from 200m away in 1.7.2 then something is seriously broken and that's going to make getting your first weapon a huge challenge. I'll PM you details of how to get 1.7.1.5 and get on my server when I get home if they haven't fixed it yet.
  17. Likewise. They can still inform customers of the situation and give some sort of general estimate. Especially since so many are on here asking.
  18. Very disappointing. Every vilayer server I've been on is fast, but all of the threads seem to be people waiting for days.
  19. ken@thekab.com

    Vilayer

Likewise. Figured the July 4th and weekend rush was probably past. The "instant setup" is misleading.
  20. If the zombies are all Olympic runners with nuclear powered hearing aids and an affinity for walking through walls then yes I think it is comparable.
