I also got killed multiple times, even with a hatchet picked up in front of me by an unarmed player, but i also found friendly people, one even gave me a gun and a ride on his chopper. Maybe you are spending too much time in or near big cities, I got better luck finding friendlies away from the shore.

Today i was hidden inside a barn, two guys come in running with zombies behind, I tell them to run out to the other door and hide, one of them gets a hatchet from the floor and start hitting me with it. He killed me and after that the zombies got both of them. Yes, pvp is a little weird but i think it's fun anyway.

I don't think you have to save, i just close the game and when I join the same server i am at the point where i was when i left.

I was playing today and had 3 zombies on my back, I ran fast to the train station building with the small ramps in Kamenka, i made an U turn around it (crouch walking since the middle of the u turn). Went crawling below the roof and stayed still, I could hear zombies steps on the other side of the building, then i turned around it and there was one like 2 meters away from me, luckily he was walking away from me so he didn't see me, the other zombies eventually left and i was safe. My heart was pounding so hard the entire time.

I played Dayz for about 30 minutes and I loved it, so yesterday i bought Arma CO. I got the game downloaders (sprocket.exe) and got both arma and armaco installed, I also installed sixupdater and installed dayz mod. Now I realized my installed versions need to be updated, but I am not sure where to download the patched and which ones. When I run arma on the bottom right it says "1.10.80665", and when running armaco it says "1.59.79384". (dayz is 1.7.2) From what I've read I need v1.60 for dayz, but I don't want to install a patch that is so updated that it wont let me into most servers (that happened to me in a few games). And I don't know if I need 1.6 patch for armaco and some other for arma. Could someone point me to the download link of the patch I need for best multiplayer experience?

I installed the patch manually and sixupdater worked, will I have to install 94700 manually or sixupdater will take care of that? And since we are talking about patches/updates, the first time I joined a server i got some messages that battleye was being updated but I dont even know what version I have. Should I update it manually?

i am playing DayZ on my old pc and the secondary monitor, the vga is a gt8600 and the monitor res 1440x900, the game runs very good. I haven't changed any video options yet so not sure what specs is it using, but it looks and run very well. I was thinking about moving the radeon 6950 I have on my main pc to the older pc, but I didn't had to yet. I also tested arma in my main monitor with the same gt8600 and 1900x1080 resolution, there the game didn't run well, there was lag every few seconds, I guess that wont happen with the ATI card, but haven't tested yet.

You dont need to know whats south or easth, just check the town name at the bottom right when you start, then identify that town on the map, put your back facing the sea, and you know that at your left it will be X city and at your right Y city, you can pick where to go and you will surely find a point of reference that will tell you exactly where you are at the map, making it easier to find buildings and place for looting.

I also bought ArmaCO just for Dayz yesterday (but also played arma without mods and it's amazing). I didn't used the steam version, and installing everything, arma2, armaco, sixupdater, 1.6 path and beta 94444 was pretty simple in my opinion, i just downloaded the files and executed them. I paid 25USD not 30, and I think it's worth that and more in my opinion, with different game modes and free mods I know I can get tons of hours of entertainment from this game. DayZ seems incredible hard when you start, but after playing for some hours i am learning from my mistakes and it gets better everytime, you shouldnt get attached to your gear, you will it sooner or later. Also I played on 1.7.1.5 and 1.7.2, and I was able to go into small towns avoiding zombies without problem, sometimes crawling just a few meters away from them. I think people expect to run into towns killing everything on sight, but dayz is not the usual fps game. Some people don't like it but to make it easier you can check at which town you spawn, and then use one of the chernarus maps available online to find a reference point, then you can go anywhere without losing time running without direction.

Dayz 1.7.2 can't join 1.7.1.5 servers that why I asked about that, at least that happened on my friends computer. Anyway, thank you guys, I will try installing "ARMA 2: Combined Operations / Operation Arrowhead / Reinforcements Patch 1.60" and then ARMA2_OA_Build_94444.zip, hope everything goes fine. One last question, since I will need to add "-mod=@dayz" to the arma2 OA beta patch shortcut like the wiki says. Will SixUpdater still work for launching Dayz or I will have to use only the modified shortcut?
