    Ugh. Well, I guess it's a good thing I can't play for a couple of days anyway I guess. I know this is an alpha, but I've never heard of an update getting released early because of the update service...that's a little bit extremely sloppy. I love the game, but they really need to get on this connectivity bullshit. Oh well, I'll just wait until things are working again and then I'll play then. I also get an error when I try to download the latest.torrent in the attempt to roll back. Fuck my life.
  3. Well they have a lot to do before a true stand-alone can really come out, especially since Rocket has stated several things that he wants to still be around. They're messing with the game's mechanics but he's also mentioned that he wants cohesive ways to add things into the game. September seems far too early to think about that kind of stuff. The biggest thing is that he wants humanity for this game, but the problem lies in the fact that DayZ would have to be on a MUCH larger map and essentially become an MMO for that to work...easily at least.

    #3 I think is the largest reason. You can have communities set up organizations on servers outside of the game via their own boards, but that's not quite enough.

    Servers need to be regulated

    Frankly, the servers do need to be moderated and weeded out. Even using the filter doesn't give you a "server is fucking broken" option. I've managed to track down about 3 servers that are relatively busy a lot of the time, and I can connect to them, the problem is that sometimes I don't want to have to deal with PvP like when I'm helping a friend out with starting the game, it's much easier to just give them a helping hand when there are only a few others on the server, not 30+. It may just be me. I would just like to have servers that won't allow people to load in (from the "waiting for host" problem to the loading bar/screen problem) be removed from the server list, I don't think that's too much to ask, or at least have a black/white list posted somewhere, no matter how long it is.

    Go into your expansion folder, there should be a beta folder in there, provided you installed the beta update.
  8. FYI, this is not a solid way to roll back. This was one of the many attempted measures that I took yesterday to roll back until the 1.7.2.1 update was in full swing release, but I couldn't ever get myself logged into a 1.7.1.5 server, ever. Most of them told me I had deleted material.

    Multiple people have posted "guides" on how to do it, but none of them tend to work for whatever reason.
  10. I would say between every major update, sure, and if not that, then the major phases of the game such as when we move from alpha to beta, and then from beta to release. I still feel that players should have a weapon of some nature to start off with, a melee weapon of course, no need to bring back the revolver, but that's just a personal opinion.
  11. If the game was as realistic as possible, there would be settlements that had trading centers, hospitals, job centers, private military arms, and the like. It's a survival game first and foremost, that's pretty clear, and banding together to help each other makes more sense than KOS unless you're on a server that enlists that sort of a thing. I was hoping to get into this game and have warring factions more than anything else, but it's just an FFA which is fine and dandy, it really is, but the idea of survival is lost one the fact that the zeds aren't as dangerous as the players. I have to agree that hindering PvP is not the right path, but finding ways to enforce and encourage team play makes more sense than not. The biggest problem is putting in a system that would do this without seriously hindering the game. PvP is the life of most games, but this should be more PvE with some PvP involved, or so I feel. Rocket may feel different and others players may feel different as well. I'll do the PvP as required and adapt to the game as best I can, but I would prefer to have more organized structures, which would require a lot of help from other players and the developers of the mod themselves. TL;DR - PvP is great, but team play should be the primary focus and small groups should band together.

    next Patch: FIX D/C BEFORE NEW FEATURES

    Problem with fixing the KOS deal going on now is that there needs to be a version of ROE implemented into the game. There needs to be a proper way to identify each other without altercation to start, and to have a decent system of walking away from those engagements without shots fired, such as an instance when two players are simply moving between the map and aren't being bandits in the slightest, or when having a shoot out is a detriment to both players because of the zeds in the near by area. The question is, how can that be implemented without breaking the game?

    I'm assuming it's intended. I still think that if you're 50 meters out from a zombie, he should only be aggro'd to you if you fire a loud weapon, so mainly sound. Sight should be a huge limitation no matter what because the zeds were almost an afterthought from the feel, I rarely had a problem with them if I was careful enough, so it felt like I needed to get gear to not be underhanded against players rather than the zeds themselves, oh, and the environment. Increasing the probability of zeds attacking you via sight is a good thing for the mod. Then again, I haven't had a chance to play since the update, thus, I can't comment on personal experience, only what a couple of my lucky friends have been able to tell me.
  16. I just found out that I lost all my gear as well, oh well, no sweat, I can get it all back and it's not like it was unenjoyable getting said gear. You just gotta be careful and remember that it's an alpha test, so you're not going to be keeping a lot of your gear over the course of updates.

    Possible To Roll Back?

    Hmm, see, I did that, but the game still recognized that it was on the 1.7.2 version of the game. However, I might have deleted too much. I assume that after I do this, I shouldn't use SixLauncher to try and get to a server, just fine one with the in game browser? EDIT: Now I'm getting something saying that I can't play/edit this mission because it depends on downloadable content that has been deleted. Then it lists the DayZ mod files...but they're the 1.7.1.5 files.

    Build 1.7.2 Rolling Update

    Cannot connect to any server at all, I've attempted updating my beta patches and everything, I still can't. I get a "error" that tells me wrong CD Key when I apply beta patch 94444, but the update still applies itself properly. I have no been able to connect to any servers, and I'm really bummed because my frequented server is still running 1.7.1.5 instead of 1.7.2, but this has left me without any way to play the game now since yesterday. I really hope the hotfix is released tonight.
