  2. playing day z should be like playing project zomboid in mindset, there is no win scenario, this is a story on how you died. its blunt and truthful, you will ineveitably die, the game will do everything to support your death, some people will last minutes, some will last months, but exsistence is only temporary

    alls we are told is the infected are based off of something discussed between rocket and his brotehr (who works with viruses) and that the infection is some sort of mutation in a virus. nothing more has been discloused, though it likely wont be any diffrent then lets say 28 days later, or whatever the virus is in walking dead, a rapidly spreading virus infects people, military move in to stop, over run, apocolypse.

  5. i dont think the mod attracted the wrong people. i think people come with exspectations and they get somethign diffrent, and that itself is data rocket can use. in effect it got what it wanted. the game is not over hyped, because nobody is hyping it, rocket isnt saying anything asfar as in stone waht the mod will have, players make grand assumptions. it wont be like minecraft, when notch released a list of everything the game would have at launch, and then stopped developing when the game made gold, there is no list with day z, there are no promises, there are ideas, there are plans, but most of them arent brought up. if anyone feels they are being hyped up, remember rocket never advertised the game, it got popular on its own, and anyoen who thinks day z will change doesnt read what he writes about the game. things will get added, but it will always be this brutal game we have.

    Romero Zombie vs Rage Infected

    one of the massive limiting factors to slow zombies, is that the engine cannot handle large enough hordes to ever become a threat if they are slow. even 1500 zombies in the size of the current map is nowhere near enough to become a threat. the other problem is, what slow zombies represent vs fast ones in other aspects, such as psycological. rocket has went pretty in depth with this over the course of many posts. fast zombies work for todays mindset far more then slow ones. the other problem with slow zombies, is even in large numbers, they generally never become a threat, until you give them extream numbers (such as 5 zombies witin every few feet of the player at any time) no more room in hell does this nicly, but it is vastly smaller maps, so its easy to crowed. also id really love to not refer to slow zombies as romaro zombies, the guy did a couple of good movies, but then he ruined them b having zombeis develop feelings, the ability to play instruments, and work firearms, yeah he did some major thigns for zombies, but he did alot of really really terrible things too.

    What do you think about non-hive servers?

    By just playign the game you are testing for rocket, he can read the data and figure out from there. but by playing on servers who change configurations so drastically, you comprimise the development of this game, a lack of data, or coruppted data wwill cause problems. as far this mod owing anything to anyone, rocket never promoted it, he never intended for it at this stage tot ake off like this, it was word of mouth that did it, and it happend because it offered somethign other games cant. but if you sit back and stand in teh way of development (by playing and thus supporting servers who comprimise data) you are only hurting hte project. i dont care what spin you put on it, servers that try things like changing the day night cycle to stay day, servers that modify the data, are standing in the wya of deleopment, and that is just as bad as hacking IMO.
  8. the only way to combat hackers is at a development level, and by reporting them. developers will have to overcome the exploits to the game, the players can take videos of the hackers hacking, make it known and have action taken against them.
  9. alls i can telly ou is what rocket has said he wants to add. he wants to add reasons to not kill each other, such as gainign profincey in skills (local to only this life) meaning things can be build or crafted or done that would be harder if not imposible in a smalelr group. he intends on making more customazation he wants to make the world bigger (thus spreading the population out) doing this will go along way into what you your suggesting without limiting anything. hes also stated that the stats show the game isnt just a death match, and he doesnt intend on it being a deathmatch. but he wants to do it, without imposing any game enforced penalities to anyone, this will all take time, but i think the other problem is day z doesnt have a problem with any of the things your mentioning, this is something rocket himself stated. you may think its a problem, and its an opinion i wont argue with you, because its yours. but as hes teh developer, its both his intention and will to have the game as it is now. which means its not a problem, its a feature. i hope that when otehr features are added, to give players like you who wish to no pk, that make your lives a bit easier or safer you find joy in Day Z, but right now they are not there, and even when they are added, one dick with even a cz can drop you from well outside the city on one shot. sometimes its just a sad story, but rocket also love drinking the tears of the angrey, so i guess it all works out.

Also, please understand i have been cival, ive never argued only explained and i try to do it in a calm way. i never said your ideas were bad, i never said MineZ was doing anythign wrong, or that those ideas for Minez were wrong. i have only ever stated that for DayZ they dont work out. i can respect that for you thats not good. I dont enjyo being killed sometimes, well never. but i like that it can happen like that and that i can do it too. thats just waht this is about, being brutal, rocket even said he adds things sometimes just to make people mad. this isnt about having fun, this was an exsperiment to him, it still is. we, or we all should, value your feedback and opinions, even if we wouldnt use them, they are feedback, and ideas, thats what drives development. but also understand what your offering goes against things rocket has stated flatout are non negotiable to the goal of this, so they cant be used, they would destroy what we have. dont take offence to this, dont get angrey with it, jsut understand that this project, and you are at two diffrent places. and thats ok. all in all i hope minez is sucessful and it does what it sets out to, its just alot diffrent then what day z is or will be.maybe when other features are added to Day Z that promote keeping people alive (like a player with realyl high medical skills) murder will happen less, maybe a player run police force will rise, who knows what the future holds. but please respect that this is jsut diffrent then what you want, no harm in having two games that are similure in genre, with a diffrence in opinion. Edit: the reason why alot of friendly communities fail is because the structure didnt work out. they died from inside troubles, or lack of force. for it to work, they are going to need a steady force of atleast 15-20 players on, working together in a tight nit group at high tactical level, it wont be easy, nothing is. the lifespan of a bandit isnt typically higher then a survivor. its also worth mentioning that rocket made a post at some point stating that only around 10% of the players hold the majority of kills, the vast majority of the game is spent avoiding each other, and a suprisingly large amount of players choose to live in the woods in safty. the thing is being a survivor in a world liek this, means you need to adapt to a non trusting way of life, bandits are not evil or bad, they generally dont hunt players, they just kill them when they see them, because they would exspect the same.
  11. i dont like being sniped, i hate missing my spot and paying for it, the problem here is your arguing enforece restrictions. in teh USA we have teh constitution, which gives us things liek free speech, i dont liek the things some people say, but i would never change the amendment to remove it, because thats their freedoms to have it. this mod does not restrict you, it does not judge you, what your suggesting would change that, for better or worse, its what makes it orginal. there are friendly communities out there for this game, there have been groups that set up safe zones for newbies, taxi services, medical services, trading posts, its easier to be a dick then a friend, but its the same in real life, only police change that, and so far none of the surviors bother to make a real police movement, but the game will support that when they decide to.

    ill take teh bait with this. your on teh computer posting this, usign electricity, which had to be manufactured. no matter hwo you do i, (turbines, solo panels, power plant etc) a manufactuing plant at some point did some work, that plant had to be built, which resulted in habbitat loss, which results in animal death. by usign electricity your a murderer too, and that makes you, as a vegen, a hypocrit.
  13. and by the way, the devil dog guy i told you to youtube, he has plenty of videos of walking up to the airfield, alone, with an AK, and getting great loot, and killing people. theres anotehr guy whos naem escapes me, he died, he respawned went to the airport and on the way got three heli crash site spawns, killed the zombies and looted them all, nota single sniper. you might be having more badluck then otehr people, but solo play works just fine.

You miss my point. im not saying group play coutners snipers (lots of youtube videos show snipers taking out multiple people) and im not saying snipers solo play (ive seen alot of snipers get shot in the back because they got flanked) what im suggesting FOR YOU, is to join a group because its more secure, its not a sure thing, that same guy i told you to watch, loses men from time to time to snipers, but with a group that sniper can be hunted, or at teh very least, your stuff recovered. being in a group wont make the game easier or safer, it makes it alot easier to get back ina fter death, it gives security, it gives power, but it doesnt give you safty. againy our problem is you enter an area, and get shot because you either missed the guy hiding, or he came up later, having atleast one otehr guy with you allows you to have somone watch over you as you loot, possibily preventing you being shot, ot sighting and enemy you missed.

    Day z uses things like the map from arama 2, but the engine from OA, both are needed. as for your specs, i would go on the side of doubt. that system is very very bad for this type of game, you MIGHT be able to play, but your fps will be bad, and that will get you killed, and thats best case scenario. Edit: what i actualyl exspect, your visability settings would need to be low meanign you might not see a threat, the game could lock up, freeze, crash, have render issues, if enough zombies are around, it could make the problem work.also with low textures it can be harder to tell ebtween some terrian elements and a person, which compounds the already not that easy to spot system (camo works realyl well in this game) and the worst case, it wont run at all.
  16. added responses in red Its also worth adding again, rocket has already stated ideas to make co-exsisting more attrative, such as player traits that they gain over time (but not between lives) meaning groups offer better survivability, fortifacations being explored to make settling a mroe reliable idea. Please read the threat with all of rockets interviews and qoutes about the design of this game, you will see these problems are being worked on, its just being done without punishing playstyles, as i pointed out, alot of Minez's philosophy does.

Theres another Zombie game out there called No More Room In hell, it emphizies avoiding zombies then fightign them, as ammo is scarce, and you are vastly out numbered. the one feature about this game i do love, is you can be beaten to death by the zombies, BUT a single scratch or bite from them could infect you, once infected you will slowly subcome to the dieses and die, then your corpse rises to eat your friends. there is medication you can take, that will dely this from happening, but no cure, and its rare to find, and rarely does enough spawn for more then one person to survive infected till the end of the level. i think something to this effect would be a fun addition to Day Z, HOWEVER not until other bugs are fixed. a single bite causeing infection in the current game would be toxic, as teh current bugs associated with zombies would make playing near pointless.
  18. Over all, every single thing you compared between teh game had one thign in common, it punished one playstyle while benifited another. Day Z, as said by rocket, will not judge you, it will not punish you for how you want to play. MineZ on the other hand does. MineZ is geared twords peaceful gameplay between humans, it takes every step short of disabling PvP to actually make it unviable. it ignores the players wish and imposes rulse and sanctions. if you want safty in Day Z you can group up and make a military and protect the land, if you want safty in minez, just play, because teh entire game is designed to cater to those players. For 25 bucks the game doesnt offer any reason for me personally want to try it. it seems like someone wanted a zombie game, with little codeing required, and wanted it to be rainbow friendly. there is nothing Day Z could learn IMO from MineZ while keeping its integrity, except of course, of what not to do.

    Update came. Where helicopters?

    Helicopters got broken in a patch, the bug rendered them virtually non useable, and it was also causing player deaths. so they were removed until they can be reworked.

    i see alot of people mentioning bandit punishing or kill on sight mentality. the thing is, the gme already does this, or rather it allows it. if you guys banded together, got 10+ people on one server, as many as you could, geared up you could hold a town, you could localize and area to safty. the game supports this. the only reason IRL this doesnt happen is because we have the goverment policing us, if you guys take that and apply it, the game would be safer for you.

    Why the core userbase of this forum sucks.

    I think a few reason exists for the hostility. first off alot of peopel complain, but do not provide any form of solution for that, which doesnt help the design process, and infact stalls it, and leads into the next problem. the forums get flooded with people doing this, tons of threads and posts exsist with complaints over some thign thats wrong, without a solution provided. the statement, this is an alpha, applies to this. yes, "x" is broken needs fixing. so suggest a fix, or a revert or something that can be used in solution making. secondly, some players often assume that they shouldnt have to have these bugs, or that just because it wasnt broken before its unreasonable to break now. any time a designer must alter their code or files in any manner, it can have adverse effects, or effect beyond whats anticipated. the other reason people tend to get hot and heavy is the above combined with pride. the hardcore group here thrives on teh challenge, on the current state of the game. when something is altered that they love they will be upset, and what makes it worse is when someone says that it was good/bad, and they dont agree with them. its like showing off a prized object you hold dear, and everyone telling you its terrible. to some people wanting something easier would take away what this game brings them no other does. for others, its inacceibility does the same thing. and people feel the need to protect these things they have. the core of this userbase doesnt suck, its misdirected. their opionions are there, they have an idea what they want, they just need to restructure how they say it. instead of saying "x" is stupid now, or "y" is broken, instead just explain your viewpoint, instead of stateing it, keep an open mind.
