Excellent argument OHK don't belong in dayz cause they don't belong in dayz rofl. Where do you people come from. Op already said its not about realism you can't play realism card because it's a zombie apocalypse which is not real. This is rockets version of the apocalypse. Capcoms version has a guy named wesker who can teleport and umbrella created the apocalypse. Capcoms other version has you running around the mall and shit running zombies over with shopping carts and chainsaws. Valve has special zombies like screamers. Etc. etc. Nobody knows what would really be where or what so read the op and drop the realism argument it doesnt work. What makes it realistic is ARMA's engine it is realistic gameplay COMPONENT. Dayz is not meant to be the most realistic shooter ever that's what ARMA attempts to do. No skill argument is terrible. Shooting someone with any gun in this game isn't high on the difficulty scale if you are being honest with yourself. Guns in this game have different velocities as50 is the highest if I'm not mistaken so bullet drop isn't as bad. Get over it. Singling out 50.cals is so dumb because if you remove them snipers will still be doing the same thing just with less powerful guns. -

Obviously a knowledgable guy probably speaking from experience. It still can't be applied to this thread cause OP said its not about realism. Your argument is bad because your trying to infuse realism into a thread not about realism. What you are playing in DayZ is an interpretation of Rockets idea of a Zombie apocalypse, weapon damage and all. What your arguing opens the door for characters should shit and also not have infinite stamina. Also no one can run around with a 50. Cal at the low ready for hours on end. Even though your post was informative it is still a straw man argument. You took one aspect of the OP and beat it to death with a counter argument which still doesnt even address the op in his counter to people arguing to take out sniper rifles. All you basically said was your point about realism is wrong in terms of sniper rifles here is why blah blah blah. You just sat on the fence of the argument and picked at one thing so you could attempt to impress with your knowledge of guns. In the end you added nothing except something to confuse the direction of the thread. Are for or against 50.cals being in the game and why? Who gives a shit about your knowledge about what snipers are designed for and what size hole they leave in someone at point blank. I can google that shit. -

Assuming your playing on a server that doesn't range with scroll wheel. The SVD is the easiest rifle to range of all the snipers. M24 and DMR basically range the same with mil-dots. CZ is its own animal. 50.cals still have to be ranged with mil-dots. Your only argument against 50.cals being in the game is that they are 1 Shot kills which is fucking dumb. Urals, VS3 become tanks if you take out 50.cals. Helicopters fly around free with out 50cals. Yes you can kill all those vehicles with those weapons but it's going to take alot of ammo. It's a dumb argument do you really think if a sniper has you lined up with a DMR and knows its not going to be a headshot he still won't take the shot? He is still going to take the fucking shot so your only argument for skill is that he has to shoot you twice because his gun isn't as powerful as a 50.cal. -

Terrible OP with no thought behind it at all or very little. Alt+F4's = Cod kids kills your whole thread. Invalidates your whole thread and makes you look stupid. No one demographic ruined your game. Everyone was a noob at this game once. The learning curve is steeper than cod but it's not impossible to learn. You get no magic cookie because you think your pro now. You are just a number a statistic along with your supposed cod kids. That data collected for alpha testing does not show up as cod kid/ pro dayz player who makes stupid threads denouncing cod players. -

Excellent read. It all comes down to efficiency! The AS50/M107 are the most efficient sniper rifles in the game. That is why people prefer them. The next tier down of sniper rifles do 8000 damage unless it's a headshot. You are pretty much dead anyways if you don't die you are not effectively going to return fire at the range you where engaged at in the first place. You will have to bandage or bleed out, possible broken bone. The sniper has basically won anyway you are pretty much neutralized he can see where you ran or crawled and has time to move. All the 50.cals do is give you no chance to retreat but the other rifles still basically did their job of they hit. Honestly taking 50.cal snipers out just forces those same players to go one tier down. Taking all snipers out forces those players to m14, saws, fn fals. It is efficiency and that's there is to it. Those same players will always pick the weapon with the longest effective range and that does the most damage. Saying it requires no skill is a dumb argument it absolutely dumb to say its no skill because it's a one shot kill. This isn't COD (yes I said it). I use to play a ton of MW2 and there was this forever arguement that by giving yourself a limiting barrier intervention bolt action > Barrett 50.cal meant you where more skilled even though the Barrett was more efficient. -

Which sounds like to me a person that knows where to get geared. I can do this. I am geared now eventually I will get bored if I die and lose it all I can go to a camp and regear or I can go have a little pvp with basic stuff and just run around cherno and elektro where I know there will be action. I die again respawn run back to cherno or elektro and do it over again till I get tired. Its not like all fresh spawns running around cherno or elektro are New Cod Kids. Could be people looking for a change of pace who want to run around and kill with a makarov. That is what we are talking about here right? Cherno and Elektro cause anything else above that people usually have gear if they are headed north and I'm sure there isn't much friendly chatter going on up there. So in turn you must be hanging out around the coast alot cause thats really only place friendly talk happens. Soooooo if you don't like it so much stop hanging in cherno and elektro. -

Going out of his way is Getting a gun in Kamenka and going to cherno to get a gun but maybe he just wants to pvp because he has gear stored in a tent but finds it boring collecting with no action. You do know many people play the game now that its not hard to get your irl friends or gaming friends from other communities to play with you. Then everyone else is the enemy. I don't really see what your point is. I watch streams all the time of DayZ and see alot of people say friendly and not kill. Maybe you just have to try it more often. I don't do it but if thats what your looking for its still out there. Your probably only getting that from fresh spawning though. Anyone with gear will hardly trust anyone else. -

Nothing to see here! Another opinion looking for justification to try to rationalize something they have no control over. 1,000,000 unique users being surprised that some people came over from COD is being naive. People came from COD, Starcraft 2, Mindcraft, World Of Warcraft, LOL, DOTA, BF3, etc....... Would you know how to control 1,000,000 people and how they play? Its a sandbox to think there wouldn't be a portion of the pop that shoot on sight is dumb. Me and my friends came from Starcraft 2 and we shoot on sight. Explain to me why we do that? -
No thought what so ever in these kind of posts. Take out 50.cals. People will run around with basically whatever gun does 8000 damage and has the longest range! DMR's,M24, SVD (snipers) Take out snipers People will run around with M14 AIM's and M16 Acog - Effective at 800 meters. Light Machine guns effective to 400 Meters MK48's and 240's. Etc etc etc. There will be a whine all the way until people just have hachets. What ever has the longest range and does the most damage is going to be the preferred weapon. You know why? EFFICIENCY Not because its overpowered but because its efficient. Running around Cherno and elektro with a AS50 is not efficient can it be done? Yes but i'll take a FN Fal when I am CQC over a AS50 anyday

The Guns aren't supposed to be balanced because Guns aren't balanced. A 50. cal is suppose to be a 1 hit kill. If you are a few centimeters off the shockwave from the bullet will hurt you in real life. Not to dig into the real life argument. EDIT CAUSE I READ THIS: Not Cod next people will ask for auto shield regen. M107 using charges instead of mags and then has an imaginary timer that makes it desolve. wtf gtfo.
