Download and install DayZ Commander and then add the peoples in game name to the friends list. Will at least tell you when and what servers they are playing on, you just have to find them in game after that ;) http://www.dayzcommander.com/

To put stuff in the backpack from your inventory you need to open it with G then click the bag and at the bottom of the window click on open. Now you can arrow across the items you want to put in the bag. You will see a number at the top op the item list that looks something like 5/20, the first number is the spaces left and the second is total slots in the bag.

All of the private servers are unable to connect to the public hive. Rocket and the DayZ team have no control over them but since they are not able to connect to the public hive, any progress made on that server does not carry over to public servers.

I'm not sure how it's done but have been on servers that have it enabled. I personally don't think this should be a part of the game. Makes it so much easier and takes out any need of learning to navigate.

Yea blacklisting only block the server from gaining access to the hive. All the private servers don't carry over to other servers like official servers do. So any progress made on them will not be saved for any other server.

I did see a post a week back about someone who was coding a launcher just for DayZ (unlike six launcher that works for a bunch of mods) but I don't know if it's out yet. For six launcher it takes a minute or so for everything to update for me and show the correct pings. Being from NZ makes it easy though since any server with a Kiwi/Aussie flag I can join. Try giving Six Launcher a minute or so then list by ping and see if it displays the proper ping. Otherwise try in game and set the filter mission to dayz.

I have the steam version so not sure how the install changes but six launcher does it all for me, I didn't even know I had the beta patch until I tried installing it and found six launcher had done it already. All I did was start six launcher and it did the rest.

If you are wanting to start a server in an area that currently has no local servers or only very few you should have a god chance though. If it is an area that already has a large number then chances are pretty slim. As Waffle posted, only 30% or so get accepted.

You can use the hatchet but you how it is currently you need to drop your main weapon or put it into your backpack if you have enough space. It takes 10 slots and if you dont have enough room and still try the game might eat it. Six launcher shows 9999 for me but if I give it time it shows the correct ping. Version numbers are just the current version of the mod, they all connect to the same HIVE (as long as they are official servers) and should keep all your gear when you update (I think?) There is different versions atm because a patch only just came out a few days ago and broke a few things so some servers stayed on the older patch and some updated to the new one. There will be a new patch within the day for 1.7.2.2 to fix the issues that came from the last patch. As for regular and such, i am not sure . . . To quit just push Esc and then abort.

To me it sounds as if you tried to kill a sniper on a hill, thought you had killed him but instead he Alt+F4 out of game, ghosted around you and killed you when you moved into inspect his body. That would explain why the body was not there and how he killed you from behind. If this is what happened then it isn't a hacker, it is someone exploiting the current design of the game but can still be banned for this. The admin of the server would need to look into the server logs and find the players name at the same time you listed logging out and then back in a few minutes later. I am not sure how much luck you will have with getting an admin to look into it though since this people Alt+F4ing is commonly exploited.

I was happening this happen to me the other day. Had a few friend that play DayZ tell me they had the same. So it isn't a problem on your end so will just have to wait for the servers and hive to start working as they should again. I have played a few times today and not had any problems with this though.

If it was different servers I would say that one of them didn't have access to the hive and was being run through a private hive, but being on the same server is weird. You sure it wasn't the same character just rolled back to an earlier time?

They could try having the hive detect the last few servers the person was connected to within the last 10 - 20 minutes. So example is player is in Server A then leaves to join server B, within a few minutes the player has left server B and trying to connect back to Server A. The hive detects that this player was on Server A within the last 10 minutes and has since logged into a different server so blocks that player access the server for a set amount of time. I think this combined with a logout timer would be a pretty good way to stop ghosting and DCing in combat. Still wouldn't stop people who server hop farming loot and also not sure how much extra strain this would put on the hive.

I now understand why I have to shoot first if I don't want to die whenever I come across someone in game. Reading some of the pointless reply's and immature abuse people give. Sure OP started this topic in a negative note but still no need to abuse and post pointless things. Also this, have you updated battle eye? Also I'm pretty sure when I was installing dayz one of the guides I was following told me to reinstall battle eye through steam. To reinstall it just got to launch operation arrowhead and it should give 4 options, one being to reinstall battle Eye anti-cheat, try that and see if it helps.

I did get a lot of trouble with getting disconnected when I first started playing but it was because the game was going through a large increase in players and the hive was under a lot of stress. I haven't had any problems lately of being kicked out though. Maybe try doing a ping test and tracert to the server IP that you play on and see what they return. How are you trying to launch the game? Via Arma in game server browser or do you use six launcher?
